    Tomorrow it is!

I'm going at the same time tomorrow! I feel the exact same way. I have my list of things to take and have them but at the same time I feel like I'm going to forget something. What state are you having yours done in? I'm in IL.

    3 days away!

I will be sleeved on Tuesday and I could have written Mimiof3's post as well. I have an adult child and a pre-teen child. I'm freaking out about getting things ready for Christmas, wrapping things and hoping everything goes well. I haven't been sleeping because I'm so anxious but I know all will work out. I just need to put it all in God's hands. I could definitely use some of the nerve pills...at least it would be something solid in my tummy! LOL Good luck to all of us and let's all meet up on the losers bench and have a laugh about our pre-op anxiousness!

    Getting Closer! So many Qs!

I'm getting sleeved on Tuesday. While others know I'm having surgery, many others have no idea what it's for. I told my adult child, my sister, brother, and two very close friends. I decided not to tell any others because out of the handful of people I told, I have two of them consistently trying to talk me out of it. I am not wanting to be talked out of anything, this is my decision and I want to go thru with it. I have heard "why can't you just do it yourself, I'll put you on a diet and get you working out, you're never going to eat normal food again, you're really not that big" and so on. What they fail to realize is I'm doing this for me and my health. According to my doctor, I am on the lower end of the required BMI but because of my comorbidities the insurance approved it. I have two auto immune diseases and slightly high pressure, seizures and thyroid problems. Getting this weight off will help me feel better but it's not being understood by the ones I told. I can't imagine telling everybody and the amount of negative feedback I would get at that point. I keep reminding myself I am doing this for me and it's time I work on myself. There will be many reasons people try to talk you out of things, doesn't matter what it is. If you know this is the best decision for you then do it first and think about telling others later. Good Luck to you!
  5. Actually I just asked a medical person who said this makes sense. The patches work but you will have to keep up on them more than if you had the citrate.
  6. I don't know much about it. I'm curious to know if the vitamin patches work. So you know anything about them?
  7. I had the band close to when you did and like you had issues with it. This past year I had it removed because I got extremely sick. I was throwing up all the time, even with Water and no fill. I'm having the gastric sleeve done this coming Tuesday, December 20th. Maybe consider the sleeve rather than the RYN. You and I are similar sizes and I was told I was on the smaller end of the required BMI and they wouldn't even recommend the RNY because it's best not to reroute the intestines due to malabsorption. Just something to think about. Good Luck!
  8. Welcome back. I'm so sorry for your loss. KY Dan said it best: get back in track and make your mom proud. We will be here for you ????

    Protein shakes

Premier protein is great, no after taste but make sure you drink it cold!!!!!

    Alcohol

It won't mess up your band if you drink alcohol. What messes up your band is throwing up. Trust me, if you eat something you shouldn't or if you get sick, you will throw up. BE CAREFUL WITH THROWING UP! I had the band and am now going to the sleeve because the band was causing problems for me. Throwing up is not normal and if you do start doing it and it lasts, you need to go to the doctor and have it checked. I'm sure you know this but alcohol will put weight on you faster than anything. Be careful.

Why does bad food slide through?

It's the same with most foods. If you eat ice cream, there is nothing there to stop it because it's liquid, same with soda. You have to make the conscience decision not to 'cheat' because you are only cheating yourself. This isn't an easy process and it's not a quick fix. You will get out of it what you put into it. Remember, you can stretch your stomach back out if you eat things you aren't supposed to and then where will you be? Things to think about. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using the BariatricPal App

    Liquids - feel like crap

PLEASE BELIEVE ME - I questioned that up until the time I was in the hospital, in my gown, and was given something to 'calm me down' before being wheeled to the OR. I literally thought of leaving! The rollercoaster of emotions was insane! The liquid diet sucked because I was starving and watching everyone else around me able to eat. That messed with me a little. I'm 4 days out and I could punch myself in the beak for thinking those things!!! This is the BEST thing I've ever done and I'd absolutely recommend this surgery as well as do it ALL over again!! Hang in there and baby step it!!! Stay strong and get as much support and inspiration that you can! You're going to be ok!!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App How was the surgery? I'm scared of the pain of having 80% of my stomach removed. I have a child and am hoping to be able to take care of him within a few days after the surgery. I'm also afraid of failing. I've seen it happen so it's hard for me to want to tell people that in having this done. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using the BariatricPal App

My doctor doesn't have me on any one thing. I'm drinking the Premier Protein, unjury powder (unflavored to add to whatever) and health wise power drinks. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App What are power drinks? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using the BariatricPal App

    Liquids - feel like crap

I was told to use Premier Protein. It's actually not bad if you drink it cold ????. My surgery is on the 20th and I'm going back and forth on going thru with it. I'm scared, I have seen a number of people fail with gastric bypass. I'm doing the sleeve and still feel like I don't know enough about it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using the BariatricPal App
