I haven't seen any of the Republican candidates address this idiocy of "fairness". Biden froths at the mouth saying, re: taxing people who make over $250k/year, "I call that fair". Obama talks about "fairness" in raising taxes on people he, in his infinite wisdom, classifies as "rich." Why the hell is it FAIR to ever take someone's money away just because you think it is? SInce when is it OK to decide that someone doesn't deserve what they've earned?

Oh, Missy, don't you know by now that that's just the mainstream conservative media distorting the facts? LOL! -

There couldn't possibly be a real concern about fraud, of course. -
Oh - here is a link to one of the things mentioned above: OHIO MAN BRIBED BY ACORN ACTIVISTS TO REGISTER TO VOTE 72 TIMES - New York Post
-
I received an email today with a great commentary on this (sorry, I can't link it because it's an email, not a web page): In the weeks leading up to November 4, the New York Post found dozens of people who have different names but share the same story. Most of the accounts, like Christopher Barkley's, are from swing states and involve ACORN, the "community activist group" submitting the bulk of the new voter applications. Barkley says he was "hounded" to register by ACORN workers in Ohio, a crown jewel of the presidential race. "I kept getting approached by folks who asked me to register. They'd ask me if I was registered. I'd say yes, and they'd ask me to do it again." Ohio voter Lateala Goins told a Post reporter, "You can tell them you're registered as many times as you want; they do not care. They will follow you to the buses, they will follow you home..." Another man in Cleveland says he "was given cash and cigarettes" by ACORN representatives for registering a whopping 72 times in the last year and a half. The fraud gets even worse in Texas, where one county found that 4,000 of its registered voters were dead-but even that didn't stop many of them from voting! In Florida, a state that President Bush won by less than 600 ballots in 2000, the Sun-Sentinel learned that more than 30,000 felons are still on the rolls, despite the law rendering them ineligible. Although 11 states are investigating ACORN's role in widespread election fraud, time is short. With the nation on edge and Americans sharply divided as to who can lead us back, democracy cannot become corruption's next victim. Regardless of who wins, we all have a stake in an honest process.

Add to that the fact that Obama voted twice in the 2009 budget resolution to raise taxes on anyone making $42k or above, and the fact that you can't only tax people making over $250k to pay for all of the extra spending Obama is "obsurdly" proposing, and you have to squarely face the fact that taxes are going to go up on everyone with Obama as pres. Then, of course, if you own stock and Obama increases the capital gains tax from 15% to 28% (as he's said he would), it doesn't matter if you make $250k or not -- up go your taxes. The Congress' Joint Committee on Taxation show 20% of those with capital gains in 2005 had annual incomes less than $50,000 -- oops -- did we just get a tax increase on people making under $250k? And then today, showing his stunning knowledge of the economy, Obama proposed a zero capital gains tax for small businesses. Which, of course, small businesses don't pay. "Obsurd."

A new catch-word! Not only is Obama an obamanation, Obama is obsurd!

Election fraud and donor violations are not a trivial matter. Especially if the donations are being masked under made up names because they're foreign.

It's that type of behavior that's going to deal the final death blow to the market.

Poll - Democrat or Republican?
gadgetlady replied to KariK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
FASCINATING! Lately I've been finding a lot of annoyingly poorly documented articles asking the reader to reach a conclusion that may be accurate but simply isn't warranted by the data presented. At first, as I was reading this article, I thought it would be of a similar nature -- but as I continued, I found it to be very compelling. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it were true. This article about the connection between Ayres and Obama is also well done: Ayers and Obama: Follow the Money | Verum Serum. -
We need some investigations, to be sure, but I'm not holding my breath. While they're at it, they should investigate some of Obama's donors. More Bogus Obama Donors Surface, Donations Made Between July and Early August - CBS News. Specifically, people like Dahsudhu Hdusahfd who lives in the town of Df, Hawaii and works for “CZXVC/ZXVZXV”, and Uadhshgu Hduadh who Obama’s scrupulous campaign records show is currently employed by “DASADA/SAFASF”.

You'd think in 2008 we'd be able to figure out a way to have a one person, one vote system. Not likely.

Just like "global warming", everything is Bush's fault. There's no need to find a rational explanation. -

Poll - Democrat or Republican?
gadgetlady replied to KariK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It was an interesting read. No matter which side you're on, I would think it important to know when someone's deliberately lying. Especially since you don't always hear it in the MSM. -
I don't think that's a realistic question to answer because of the 1st Amendment. However, there is a reasonable question of a pro-life Democrat vs. a pro-abortion Republican, and in that case I definitely wouldn't vote for the Republican. I would look very closely at the Democrat's stand on other issues to see if I could stomach them, and if I could I would vote for the Dem (gulp!). But more likely I would end up voting for a 3rd party candidate.

Are We Ready For A Woman VP?

What he does is lie and make things up. This wasn't a gaffe. It was an outright lie. The Katie's Restaurant in which he supposedly chats with the patrons has been closed for 15 years. The employees of the Home Depot in which he supposedly spends a lot of time don't remember ever seeing him there. -

Have you looked at Obama's net worth recently? His INCOME in 2007 (not his NET WORTH but his INCOME) was $4.2 million. I think all politicians are out of the mainstream's league in terms of net worth. But having a net worth of $1.2 million wouldn't make me do backflips about how out-of-the-norm it is -- especially where I live in California! You don't have to have much of a house here to get pretty high up in net worth pretty darn fast. -

You know, Biden gave a "shout out" too -- to the patrons of Katie's Restaurant (even though it's been out of business for 15 years) and to the patrons of Home Depot that he talks to all the time (even though he never goes there). At least Palin's "shout out" was to real people! -

Me, too. I'd happily switch -- I'd love for the Dems to get the 34 TX votes and the Republicans to get CA's 55. -

As always, luluc, you are entitled to your opinion. I don't agree but it ain't you and me who're going to decide this election! There's not a snowball's chance in hell California is going to go Republican and I'd venture a guess the same is true about Texas going Democrat.
