Exercise: What are you doing post-op?
Milo replied to PDXBandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I walked post-op and do Jazzercise now 4-5 times a week, great fun and very addicting -
After two days on broth, I was gagging. I survived by straining canned soups, pea, lentil, chowder, stews and egg drop. It was fine, I wouldn't have made it otherwise.

Hi Everyone, So I had my surgery on friday, everything went well, while the doc was in there he found a hiatal hernia which he repaired. My gas pain is basically gone, now I just feel bruised up and especially around the port. I am on tylenol because I had an allergic reaction to the percocet. Started my protein today, have been having headaches anyone know what could be causing them? Yesterday I was quite sore and had "what did I do" moments but just tried to keep positive thoughts. I also want to THANK everyone who posts because it really helped me know what to expect and when I was going through the gas pains I tried everyone's suggestions. Thanks Everyone.

I can't remember where I saw this, I think it was another bandster that recommended it, but it is a website with a lot of shake recipes, they sound yummy. Men's Health smoothie Selector

I too don't have time to research what you are up to if anything. Don't use my comments in anything you write if you are writing anything.

I have a surgery date. April 25th, which is next Friday, I am excited and a little nervous about the anesthesia. I can't believe it, everything has gone so smoothly for me that I feel any minute I am going to get a call and someone says "belated april fool's". Thanks for all your support!

What do I need for pre surgery
Milo replied to Milo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thank you, this helps a lot -
I had my appointment today with the surgeon and everything went well. I am going with an out-of-network doctor, so the insurance said they would leave it up to him to decide if I needed the surgery, with a BMI of 46 he said YES!!! I am now waiting for him to call me back with a surgery date which he said will happen before the end of the month, or the first week of May. After I get my surgery date, I need to go and see my PCM and get cleared for surgery. (just needs to write a letter saying OK). I can't believe it, I thought I would have a horrible time dealing with the insurance. I am now just a little nervous about the anesthesia. I will also be starting my pre-op diet so I'll be ready for surgery. Hopefully everything will continue to go smoothly.:w00t::redface::thumbs_up::tongue::thumbs_up::thumbup:

I have decided to tell only a few people. I told my brother & his wife, and another sister-in-law 2 weeks ago that I was going thru this process and they were against it. Try one more diet, are u sure you have tried everthing, just exercise more. My husband was on the border, but has now come around (he was worried about the surgery). So basically I have only 4 supportive people in my journey and have decided that if anyone asks when they see me eating less or doing liquids that I will just say I have an upset stomach or something. This is ONE more thing I am trying and want it to be the LAST thing I do to beat my weight issues. Good Luck and don't let anyone get u down, they don't know what it is like to live in our skin!

Hi Everyone, I am in the process of getting approved for the band. I am a little scared, excited and impatient. I have my Nut & Psych Eval tomorrow and hope everything will go well. Get to see the doc next week again to talk about my bloodwork and where we are in regards to approval(tricare). The Doc's office have been great and really helpful. I am so happy to have found this forum, it has been so helpful and full of great info.

Nutritionist & Psych Eval tomorrow
Milo replied to Milo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have a psych evaluation on Monday. What are they looking for? For me I had gotten a 10 page questionare at the seminar to give to the nutritionist and they asked what diets I had been on, when, how much I had lost on each, which one did I like the best, what I think of my body, do I like my body, once I lose the weight how do I think my life will change, how will I be happier, what is my diet like now, what support systems do I have. Basically I thinks she wanted to see what I have done in the past, where am I at now so that she knows how to counsel me. She then gave me a pre surg diet, weeks 1-4 diet and then I am to see her again at week 4 for more counsel. I really liked her a lot. Pre-surg diet is like a weight watchers diet. The psych asked me about my past, parent relationships, any physical, sexual abuse, any depression, how is my marriage, do I stress eat. I answered truthfully to everything, I have depression in my family, I had post partum depression, and DO stress, boredom, holiday and celebritory EAT!! She was really great too, says thin, fat, medium basically everyone stess eats, gave me an exercise to do when I really feel I WANT to eat something I shouldn't and said I should do fine once I am banded. The exercise is basically, it take 20 minutes for the impulse of "WANTING to eat something" to go away, she said to remove myself from the bad food area, occupy my time, meditate, walk, sit quietly and as I become more aware of my thoughts I will be able to control my impulses better and in less time. whew, sorry for the long post Good Luck on Monday! -
Nutritionist & Psych Eval tomorrow
Milo replied to Milo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Things went really well today, both the nut & psych said they appreciated me being truthful with my answers, they said they saw no problem with me getting the band and if I needed any help to contact them since they were there to answer any questions. Everyone I have been involved with in this process has been super great. I see the doc on thurs and then wait for surgery approval & date. I was quite nervous about whether or not I am strong enough (mentally) to do this, the psych really helped me with that, I feel better and more confident. I am sure as I get further into the process I will be posting more to get more support from everyone. I love this forum. Thanks everyone!!! -
