Pregnancy symptoms different after wls?
Bhappy replied to akaleela's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I have hypermesis gravidarum this pregnancy and had no nausea with my first. I also find I'm uncontrollably hungry but because I'm so sick I can't keep anything down. I'm hoping it passes after the first trimester is over in a couple weeks. -
I recently found out I'm pregnant and I'm worried I may not be getting enough vitamins. My bloods were all good except my red blood cell distribution width was slightly high. I am taking 1 prenatal vitamin and 1 DHA per day. The vitamin has 1mg of folic acid in it. Does anyone know if this is sufficient? I was worried if I took two a day I'd be getting too much of some things. My surgeon hasn't responded and my OB told me to contact him as she wasn't sure following bariatric surgery. Thanks!

I just googled it! Fingers crossed I'll be able to as well!

@beth_d What is ebf? I understand the Starbucks habits I have to avoid like the plague. Thank you for all the help. I really appreciate it!

That's amazing@beth_d !! I was 323.6 day of surgery, I'm now 263 and I want to try and get to 200 before we get pregnant, but I don't want to wait too much longer as I too have fertility issues. The dr said she will start treatment when I hit 250 so I may just go for it and hope that I continue losing after pregnancy. Have you found you've lost quite easily post pregnancy even though you were past the 12 months post op weight loss period?
-
Wow@beth_d that's awesome! Firstly, you can do it! Once you get back on track for a week or two it will feel normal again. Secondly, I need to know how you only gained 2lbs in pregnancy. We are going to try again in a few months (I'm 4 months post op and down 60 lbs so want to lose another 60). I'm nervous about the weight gain though. Any tips would be very much appreciated!

How much protein shakes should I take at one time?
Bhappy posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there! I'm 12 days post-op and on purees. If I make a Protein shake it ends up being about 500mls. How much should I drink at one time? I've been sipping it constantly over about 4-5 hours (Drs orders because I was getting terrible spasms). The spasms are gone now for the most part and I'm worried if I don't start setting meal times I'll stretch my pouch. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Does anyone else have pain in their chest when they burp and stabbing stomach pain when they swallow liquids?

I think we could be taking too big of sips. If I half the tiny sips I was already taking it seems to help. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

My mom asked me if it was possible I had a hernia but the surgeon said no. I have no idea, but swallowing is so painful when it hits my stomach. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I just tried a gas x and it's helping so I'm not burping so much. I can't do the broth. The low sodium one tastes so awful. I'm feeling pretty nauseous tonight so hoping by morning I'll feel better. If the pain would go it would be so much easier. I started Protein shakes today after speaking to my surgeon so that's helping energy levels. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

@@Darcia thanks for all the great info. It's helped calm my nerves a lot. I am worried about post op care to keep my mind straight as I know when you go through the province the pre and post op programs are quite intensive. I hope you're feeling well! Thanks @@Darcia ! This was helpful to read. I am really nervous, but feel a lot better knowing you've just been through it. I will let you know how it goes! Not long now. It was a last minute decision for me to do this once my endocrinologist said I had no real options but surgery. I have been spending my days researching and trying to get my head around it all. Does Dr Gagner offer post operative care. I am in TO and when I spoke to the Ontario Bariatric Network they said because I am going out of province, I won't qualify for their program. Thanks and speak soon! -
@@Faith16 that's awesome! We should be buddies!
