    Any Brisbane bandsters?

Hi there all, Not too sure whether people have looked at this thread lately, but I'm a new Brisbane bander (currently 5 days post-op). Are there any Brisbane support groups / meetings / lunches etc coming up? Cheers, Annie.

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Hi there all, I just found this page (5 days post-op) and I'm really glad I did! It has been very reassuring to read through all these posts, those who have come before me and those who are yet to come We share the same concerns and feelings for the most part. Fenton, I was banded on 6th of March also, by Blair Bowden in Brisbane, Australia. He trained under George Fielding and took over Fielding's practice when he moved to NYU. Of all the people I have talked to about this (many bariatric professionals), they say the two best lap-band surgeons in the world are Fielding and Bowden. Looks like we're in good hands! Also, can anyone give details on how to add the "Shrinking Shamrocks" logo to my signature? I've tried the "copy and paste", which shows nothing, and the "insert picture", which says the logo is too big! Anyone? Cheers fellow banders! Annie.
  3. Hi there, I'm 22 and 5 days post-op. Will be nice to have some younger people to chat bands with! Not that there's anything wrong with the older folks! Annie.

    Keeping it a secret?

Hi there, I am five days post-op, and I struggled with the decision of whether or not to tell people about having the surgery. My parents both know, as well as my brother. I still live at home, so it would be pretty hard to hide it from them! They are all supportive. It took a while for my Mum to come around to the idea, but then again, she has never had a weight problem. It was actually my Dad who convinced her Some of my friends know that I have just had a small operation on my stomach - I have long standing digestive system "issues" and so they think it's related to that. Otherwise, I don't really feel the need to let anyone else know at the moment. I think it's a fear thing, you know? Like, say I don't lose any weight. Then i'll have to deal with all the people I told asking me "What happened?" Maybe when I get close to goal I will let a few people in, but that's a while away yet. A lot of time to think  Thanks for all your posts, banders. It feels so good to get other people's views, and "get things off your chest". Even though I haven't posted much, I've mostly just been lurking, you have been my support system! Cheers, Annie xox
  5. My doctor (in her 60's) told me that I needed to "Try Harder", despite the fact that I have been on Weight Watchers 4 times, plus Lite and Easy, Jenny Craig, all of the above. My OB/GYN told me that it was essential for me to lose weight due to my severe Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. So what did I do? I went to a new doctor. My new doctor (in her 30's) was incredibly supportive, and told me to go out, do my own research then if I thought it was the right decision for me, she would write the letter. I'm now 5 days post-op, and already feeling like this is the best decision I've made for myself in a long time. Bottom line - the choice is yours. You know what's right for you. Annie xox
