You know, i have weighed the risks. I started off morbidly obese with High Blood pressure, Diabetes and sleep apnea. Then just recently my mom got cancer. That really rocked my world, I figured that it would be my turn someday and being overweight would not help my chances. So I made the decision to do this for me. I'm much healthier now and ready to meet the challenge head on.

I'm sorry about the set-back. But on the other hand, although the delay is aggravating, its better to make sure that everything will be fine once you are in surgery. You don't want to go through surgery and have complications. I will keep you in my prayers. Lets not worry about tomorrow, today is full of enough problems as it is, just take it one day at a time.

Diabetics: When did you get off your meds after banding?

I stopped taking my diabetes meds right after surgery, my surgeon took me off them. Its been 6 months now for me, my sugar counts are normal and my a1c is 4.6 - Normal. -

Debbi, Lets see, I am short, only 5 ft tall, have brown skin and freckles. I'm from Hawaii, so I have a tan all year long. I have white hair and I refuse to color my hair, I think it defines me as the individual that I am. I like to smile and laugh, expecially now that I've lost 52 pounds. -
I have 2 ccs in my 10 cc band. I had my first fill back on Feb 29th. I used to have good restriction, but now have none during the day. I'm so glad that I'm getting my 2nd fill on July 11th.

I was banded Jan 7, 2008 and noticed that i started loosing hair about 2 months ago. Others on the site have suggested eating more protein (I was getting 40-50 grams daily), so i added a protein drink to my diet and also started taking biotin. It's slowed down some, i'm hoping it will grow back soon.
