Do me a favor and tell 3loves that I think I have worked out my dental work and am going to get it done next month here in Texas. I had posted about Mexico dentists and I want her to know that I have got things worked out. So next month I will be toothless and awaiting permanent dentures. Myra

Anyone have gallbladder surgery AFTER the band

I haven't but my surgeon told me that 5% of lapbanders end up losing their gallbladders. So it isn't uncommon. M

    Awareness of food moving down???

HarleyNana I wouldn't be at all SURPRISED if I had gallstones as I am Fair, Fat, Fertile, Forty and Female. I definitely fall in that demographic tendency for gallstones. M

    Awareness of food moving down???

I completely understand this thread. I have an almost PAINFUL sensation of the food passing down and through. I am at 6cc in a VanGuard. I don't slime, pb or anything of that nature. I chew chew chew small bites and I still have the sensation. The other day I ate a Lean Cuisine Sphagetti & Meatsauce and it took two hours. Now I have to say that I am somewhat fortunate that I rarely feel true hunger. Yet at the same time I have to really watch my calorie intake or I won't get enough. Being a diabetic it makes it a balancing act sometimes. Even mushy things like a baked potato, creamy chicken Soup I can still feel and it is uncomfortably painful. The amount of food I eat is definitely less that preband. But I have that painful sensation from first bite to the last bite. M

    The "WAITING GAME" is ON!

Once UHC receives the info it can take up to a week for it to get put into their "system". So I would wait a week and then start calling to make sure they have it. I called at least every other day. My original packet never made it to them. It would have taken months for me to find out if I hadn't been calling. Then there were key pieces of info needed. Yet again it would have taken months to find out. Once I knew they had everything needed it took two days for approval. However it took considerably longer to get them everything they needed. Myra
  14. WOW I feel the same way. I have been reluctant to say anything because so many people DO struggle with hunger. I can tell you if I EVER tell my family I am hungry they start scrambling for something for me to eat. It is just something that happens so rarely. Usually if I wait about five minutes the feeling will pass. Myra
  15. Since my second fill last week I have the almost painful sensation of feeling every bite of food as it passes down. I had the sensation with my first but not quite as strongly as now. So it's not like feeling stuck. I don't have slimes, pb's or vomiting. I just feel the food. Weird huh. M
  16. Hi Brad. Welcome to LBT. I hope things go well with your doctors appointment and you get the info you need. Keep us posted. Myra

Do any of ya'll find yourself looking at the AMOUNT of food you can eat and wondering how in the world that little amount can keep ANYBODY ALIVE? I am having a hard time with that. For me portion distortion is far harder than actual hunger. Now granted I just had fill #2 and I think the swelling is finally going down cause I can now burp a little. I haven't been able to do that for over a week. But for Breakfast today I ate 3 whole wheat crackers with egg salad spread moderately on them. THAT WAS IT!!!!!!!!! I am thinking to myself this just is not right. I need to be able to eat more than this. That's what my brain is saying but the old body just isn't cooperating. Myra

Hi Paladin tell 3loves I am glad she is feeling better. I probably won't know for a couple of months what my port is doing. During my first fill under xray it was fine. The second fill it was flipped at a 90 degree angle. I probably won't get a third fill until after we go on vacation the first week of October. So hopefully it won't have continued moving but will just stay where it is. But if is does completely flip on over then I'll just have it fixed. I do have a question for everyone. I have noticed that after each fill (I have had two) that when I swallow food it is slightly painful when it hits the pouch/band area. I don't mean like something is stuck. I mean like I can feel it go down and when it hits the bottom of the esophagus it is slightly painful. I thought after the first fill it was because I was swollen but the sensation never completely left. I went almost 8 weeks between fills and I still have that sensation. I don't slime, pb, or anything else. I eat a reduced amt of food. No reflux. Just this odd sensation of slight pain. I have 6cc in my Vanguard. Just wondering if anybody else has experienced this. 2nd Denial from Highmark

GinaB it sounds like you need the services of an attorney. Even medicare no longer deems lapband experimental. Sounds like the old run around. Get some legal help. Is the experimental/investigational label the only reason for denial? Sometimes they through so much other *criteria* in the mix that it makes it almost impossible for approval. M

Well tomorrow will be a week since my second fill. I have 6cc in a VanGuard now. I can really tell the amount of food that I can eat has definitely decreased. We'll see in a couple of weeks how things go. Myra
