:update: This morning I hit 249.8. It has been a long time since I have been in the 240's. I think my face looks younger. I kinda like this.:clap2: I have lost 18 pounds in the last month.:heh: Myra

Well the elliptical was assembled late yesterday afternoon and it is great. It even has a little fan in the console so I can point it toward my face if I get too hot. Which I am sure I will at first.:nervous So today I plan on giving it a real workout.:clap2: I will let ya'll know if I am able to walk tomorrow.:heh: Kim I will update you in a week or so after I have given it some time. But from the look and feel of it so far I think I am really going to enjoy using it. Drew's that looks like so much fun. I remember roller skating in a lifetime far far past. When I was about eight my mother had a red velvet dress made that looked like an ice skater's costume for me to roller skate in. I loved it.:clap2: Tell 3loves to take it easy for a couple of days after that fill and let us know how things are going. Myra

Well folks my weightloss hasn't been as great as ya'll but I have to tell you I had a (for me) huge NSV yesterday:scared: . I was able to work in my garden with my DH and do everything I wanted to do. :heh: Now granted I have lost about 30 poundish in weight:omg: . But it has already impacted what I am able to do in my daily activities.:clap2: It is really amazing.:girl_hug: TTYL. Myra

OK All you bandsters out there...I need your help!
Mvpo8961 replied to tanderson's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't stop your montly check in until you know for absolute that you have been approved (approval letter in hand). That way if they come back and say you need such and such you won't have a gap in "physician managed weightloss program". It would be a shame to have to start completely over for one missed monthly visit. This almost happened to me. M -
Kim here is a link to the elliptical I am getting. It should be here anytime today.:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: http://www.nordictrack.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product2_12401_10301_30951_-1_19053 I can't wait. Great news on the knee Drew. Marci are you running three miles? Thanks for the encouragement Neal and Kim. I might even think about putting a ticker back in my sig. Just a quick update on my dental work. My partial plate was incorrectly made. The lower teeth didn't meet the upper teeth. So it has to go back to the lab to be remade.:angry However, the good news is when I popped it in I could talk normally. The dentist was concerned that it would be loose and I would have some difficulty speaking and chewing. Like the trouble folks with lower dentures have. Hope everyone else is doing okay. Myra

paladin & 3loaves & family Can't wait for ya'll to get down here to OK. We are practically going to be NEIGHBORS!!! My elliptical will be delivered tomorrow and then I have to wait for the people who actually put it together to come to the house to do that. So I think it will be probably a week or so before I can use it. I confess that I don't really LIKE any exercise equipment. Since the elliptical doesn't require picking up and putting my feet down it is less painful to my ole diabetic feet (remember I have neuropathy in them so I have the way altered sensation). So if it gets me moving in a more consistent pattern then I will do it. You know, I thought I could do Water aerobics. But the class was just like a land fitness class as far as using my feet on the bottom of the pool. I seriously couldn't walk for about a week after my first class. I never went back, needless to say. However, I do have good news on the weightloss front. I have lost 14lbs in the last 14 days. YEAH!!!!! Trust me I can actually start to tell it. So onward and upward. Myra

WOW you guys are seriously making me cry.:think I go TOMORROW to get the last of my dental work done. I can't believe it is finally going to be over. I never thought it would be so hard. Had I known I would definitely have had it before I had the band. But I didn't so I have to start now like a new bandster. Drew my surgeon had me start tracking my Protein because he thought I wasn't getting enough. He was right. I am now eating about 60 Gms of protein a day and feeling so much better. I want to know if all of ya'll are going to desert LBT when you reach goal leaving me behind? Congrats to everybody for doing so well. Myra

Currently I eat two to four ounces for the most part. I measure out portions and that has helped me keep an awareness of how much I am eating. Myra

Right-o Helen have enough for a few days on hand. I forgot this one thing. IF I HAD TO DO IT ALL OVER I WOULD TAKE A PILLOW TO USE ON THE WAY HOME. I mean I felt every bump in the road. So it would have been nice to have a pillow to splint my tummy with. Also I would take the vehicle with the best shocks so you don't feel those bumps. We took our pickup truck that bounces like a person on the moon. I thought I was gonna pass out before we got home. Of course my DH took the LONG way home to save driving through rush hour traffic.:angry Myra

Does your doctor's scale weigh you heavier than at home???
Mvpo8961 replied to Sunta's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My docs scales weigh more also. But I tend to have my appt after 4 in the afternoon. So between clothes and fluids/meals his weigh more. I consider mine at home to be my official weight and that is what I watch. Myra -
If you were denied due to a WLS exclusion in your plan ...
Mvpo8961 replied to Candle's topic in Insurance & Financing
When I started my journey in November 2005 I had Aetna insurance. They paid for all the preop testing minus the copay but the surgery itself was an actual exclusion on my policy. My PCP referred me to the surgeon and he ordered the preop testing. Go figure.:omg: Myra -
Hi Melissa the best advice I can give is don't spend a bunch of money before the surgery getting stuff. I tried every Protein drink on the planet I think. All at great expense. After my actual surgery I could ONLY drink skim milk with CIB for about a week. It was the only thing that didn't make me queasy. I know there is a post op surgery suggestion list floating around. But seriously the time passes so fast that you wonder why you spent all that money on that stuff. The rest is fairly common sense stuff and things we all have done for a long time. Watch what you eat, exercise and get plenty of fluids. Remember the band is a TOOL not a magic cure. I think it is easy to get swept up into the wanting of it and not realize that it is still hard work afterwards. I know I didn't realize how difficult it would still be. I don't know that anybody telling you will help I think it is one of those things that we all just have to experience. Myra

I live in Allen!!!!!!!:clap2: Hello to all the North Texans. Myra

OOOOHHHH kim2bhealthy you have my sincere sympathy on the stomach virus thingy. Just the thought of that makes me queasy. M

Kendra look at Dr. Louis Fox website. There is a link in my sig. I had my surgery done about a year ago and it was approximately 15000 through SCOR/Dr. Fox at that time. I actually had insurance coverage but found out the self pay cost prior to knowing my insurance covered it. Good luck. Myra

Great picture Neal. I bet you WERE freezing your B-B-B-B beak off (anybody with a kiddo should recognize that Disney movie line:) ). Well I am finally seeing some movement in the scales. Started out a pound shy of 280 and I can say I am now in the 250's. Not by much but still going in the right direction.:clap2: My elliptical is going to be delivered on March 8th and then I have to have the folks contracted to put it together in for that. So it will probably be a couple of weeks before I have it to use. I am sooooooo looking forward to it. Gotta run need to do some painting. TTYL. Myra

Congrats on the weight lost CG that is truly amazing. I have thought long and hard about why folks stop losing for extended amounts of time after they have lost a significant amount of weight. I think there is a time where we have to step back and "own" our new body for a while. Like the normal person would do (not the morbidly obese person) when they want to diet. So instead of thinking of yourself as a 300ish pound person who hasn't finished losing yet. You can now think of yourself as the 185ish pound person who needs to start a new journey. I think after a bandster loses significant weight it takes time to wrap their minds around not being a truly morbidly obese person. It seems that some folks then reach a *mind* plateau for a while before they are ready to tackle that last little bit that they really want to do. So no get it in gear tips here but again a congratulations on your wonderful success and continued success. Myra

LindaV here is a link that can give you some basic info. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003580.htm Let us know what happens. Myra

White06 how did things go for you? Did your pain get better? Just concerned. Myra

You probably need to research fecal impaction. liquid watery stools can oddly enough be an indication of a constipated impacted mass of dry stool. Especially as you have had this problem before. M http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000230.htm

3LOAVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad your back. You don't know how many times I think about you and hope things are well for you. You know we will practically be neighbors if you move to OK. I live just north of Dallas. My band journey has not been as smooth as I had hoped but I think it is looking better. I have had another dental set back this week. I was on the verge of getting my partial plate to complete all my work when I had to have a root canal done. Now that tooth and the next one to it are very sore and getting loose. I can wiggle them with my fingers. So I go back to the dentist Monday and I think they will probably be pulled. Lucky me I will be down to five teeth on the bottom. I just have to laugh about it though. They will eventually all fall out or stabilize enough for me to get a plate. I am waiting next week for my elliptical machine to be delivered. I am very excited about getting it and can't wait to hop on and get started. I hope that will kick start my weight loss. I went to my surgeon today and boy did I get a spanking!!!!!!!!!! Oh well when you only have one tooth to chew on it is hard to eat by the bandster rules. He thinks I am not getting enough Protein. DUH I could have told him that. So onward and upward. You know I just feel it in my bones that I am on the verge of getting things straightened out for the first time in a long time. I think my "business" will go well once I get everything into place. I am not an artistically inclined person so I have to study and practice very hard to get the look I want. I am trying to specialize in table top birdbaths and things along those lines. I am going to make some pictures for my website I hope this next week and will post it for folks to look at. Let me know how the potential move goes. Love ya. Myra

Well I haven't made much progress in the weight loss department yet. Not losing but then I am not gaining either. So I guess that's a bonus. However, as everybody knows, getting my dental work done has been a long drawn out thing. But today I went for the impressions for my partial plate and it is the last bit to be done for me to have a new set of teeth. If I had truly had an idea how difficult the dental work would be I would have had it done before the banding. The second thing I have done is make a modest start on a home based business. I am developing a product line and getting ready to deliver to my first customer. I am decoratively painting home and garden accessories. I am mulling over making my own catalogs and developing my website. I have already purchased my domain name but haven't started construction on the site until I have my product line fleshed out a little more. I also ordered an elliptical machine this weekend and hope to get on the exercise band wagon. Myra

One Year Later...Not A Success Story
Mvpo8961 replied to NeenBand's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
RB I had a slip after I went for my second fill during the time I was having extensive dental work which is almost finished. But I was on really soft foods and it was a couple of months before I found out that I had slipped. So I lost a lot of time. So they took all the Fluid etc etc. Now I am back to 7cc in my VG as of about three weeks ago. So I am really just now getting restriction. But guess what my port is flipped almost to the point of being inaccessible. That is why I am seeing Dr. Fox next week to set up a time to go in and get it fixed. So if it's not one thing it's another. But I hear you about the sauce/cheese. My favorite meal right now is sphagetti noodles, Ragu Alfredo sauce and shredded chicken. But what is really killing me is I can't seem to let go of the pistachios. White06 I hear you it is really a difficult battle isn't it. Myra -

Hi leenerbups I'm right there with you and renebean. I have lost about 15 pounds and I am disappointed also. Ironically renebean and I have the same surgeon and I see him next week. My husband and I are confounded by the fact that I have not lost more weight because my portions have definitely decreased. I am buying an elliptical machine to see if I can kick start something, ANYTHING over the next few weeks. But it is about to drive me insane. So I feel your pain. Myra -
Yeah for LINDAV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You go girl. Anybody else? Myra
