It's official!!! My surgery date has been set!
Mvpo8961 replied to ryanjoey's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats on the date. I know that feeling of elation and dread at the same time. I personally had little pain. NO GAS PAINS. Just a little from the incisions that was gone in a couple of days. I just was tired for the first week. What I did that I would do differently is not run around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to find protien drinks. I spent lots of money trying to decide which I would like to have. Within one week I was getting the Protein I needed from the normal stuff I consumed. Just remember you are only on liquids a short time after surgery. Usually within 2 - 3 weeks you will be on mushies. Myra -
Sherri I don't know how you feel about lemonade. But Tropicana makes a sugar free lemonade with 5 calories per 8 ounces. Even my husband who doesn't like sugar free stuff liked it. I am drinking two liters of it a day for my Water. No caffeine or carbonation. Myra

www.smartspot.com Has anybody looked at this website from Pepsico? I noticed today that the Tropicana Sugar Free Lemonade that I have been drinking is a smart spot product. They have guidelines to follow to be designated a smart spot product. Limited sugar, vitamins and other things. Being newly banded I am on the lookout for products that are a smarter choice than ones I have made in the past. Myra

Congrats on the soon to be banding. Look at this thread for ticker info. Myra http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=16218__________________

OMG FunnyDuddies all four of my tuxedo cats drool. I told the vet they have a SGD (salivary gland disorder). They all like to sit in my pants also when I am doing my business. Maybe it is a genetic trait? HA HA HA That is SOOOOO funny. My cats are kneaders too. They all have a favorite place on my body to knead. With eleven I never know who is going to be sleeping on the bed at night. I typically have 4 - 6 cats and 3 dogs on the bed. Love those fur babies. Myra

SunnyDee I'm so glad for you that everything finally came together. I know that is a big weight off your shoulders. Congrats to pplqueen also. Won't be long before ya'll are on the losing side. Myra

Hey everybody I just wanted to drop a line. Went for my first post op appointment today. It has been 2 1/2 weeks. I have lost a total of 15 pounds according to the surgeon's office scales. I started on the mushy phase last week. Since I am diabetic and my BS were doing a roller coaster I needed to get a more regulated meal plan. No problems what so ever. No gas pains after surgery. Bloating went away in a couple of days. Been doing yard work. I don't think I could have asked for an easier time. Well it's late and I am going to hit the hay. TTYL. Myra

My preop diet was the phase 1 on the South Beach diet. My liver was nicely shrunk and flexible according to my doc. I was on the preop for 9 days. Myra

WARNING WARNING WARNING NOBODY FALL DOWN LAUGHING I have ELEVEN cats and FIVE dogs. Chelsea is my granny kitty at eight. She is a torti & white. (animal shelter) Belle Starr is six and a true calico. But she is a grumpy b*tch. (animal shelter) Mr. Tinkles is my four y/o tuxedo cat. (animal shelter) Miss Kitty (another tuxedo) and Jazzy (grey/black tabby) came together from the SPCA. Nani (long haired grey/black tabby) came from the animal shelter VERY SICK. I was sure she was going to die after having her for three days and taking her to the vet each day. She was so tiny they couldn't really do anything for her. She had a respiratory infection and couldn't eat. I force feed her every 1 - 1 1/2 hours for a week, round the clock. Used baby neosynephrine drops in her nose. Now she is fat healthy and loving life. Boo and Callie are sisters that were abandoned by their stray mother. They are both muted tortishells. Blue-gray and look like they have been rolled in face powder. Precious in a MANX that came from the SPCA because nobody wanted a kitty with a deformed stumpy tail. She is an orange tabby with orange eyes. Oscar and Sassy are tuxedo kitties. They are brother and sister and they were strays once also. DOGS Jenni is a 16 y/o standard red dachshund. We adopted her around the age of 11. She was the victim of a divorce in which neither party wanted her anymore. Hard to believe having a dog all it's life and then just dumping it at the animal shelter. Buffy and Rowdy are pseudo pomeranians that are brother and sister. Lilly is a white pomeranian that was a puppy mill rescue. Forty dogs were rescued. She was #2. All but two had heart worms. When we adopted her from the SPCA a lady had just brought her back after having her for a week because she WHINED in her CAGE. DUH lady she was just rescued from living in a cage for three years of COURSE she whined. Plus she had a UTI. During her treatment for heartworms she developed a bleed in one of her eyes probably secondary to the aspirin treatment. Eventually we had to have that eye removed and found that she had an injury to it sustained at the puppy mill. We knew she was blind in it but she doesn't let it slow her down. Lucy is the last fur baby. She is a Yorkshire Terrier that we took in after the folks that bought her (paid almost 2000 dollars for her) decided they wanted to sell their house and didn't have time to potty train her. She was six months old and they worked 12 - 14 hour days and just left her inside all day. They were going to take her to the animal shelter. But my husband (who works with the woman) volunteered to bring her here. So that is my animal clan. I will try to get some picture later and post. Myra

Warning to everyone losing weight!!! Could happen to you!

My doc told me in my preop visit that 5% of LapBand patients end up having their gallbladders out. He just wanted me to be aware that it could be a possibility. M -

Any of them would be an improvement. I like Salma. Although Nicole could use some biscuits and gravy. M -

I was banded two weeks ago. Before preop diet I was taking 90 units of 70/30 insulin every morning and 70 units of 70/30 every evening. Now I am taking 50 in the morning and 25 in the evening. I anticipate that continuing to go down as my weight does. I am in the very early stages yet. My fasting blood sugar is running around 140 - 150. Jack however is a master. He should chime in soon. Pistachios are my snack of choice at the moment. M

I am new but right now I count calories, grams of Protein and that's it. 1200 cals per day 40 - 60 grams protein. If you go to whole foods market's website they have tables of info for seafood, veggies and fruits that give you a table comparison of what each contain. Myra
