Oh NO NO NO. I am absolutely thrilled to have done it. I know though it will take some time to reach my optimal fill level and I am not in a hurry. I didn't gain this weight overnight and I don't expect it to fall off overnight. So I am in it for the long haul and thrilled about it. Do you live near Dallas? I noticed you have desoto in your screen name. I live just north of Dallas in Allen. Myra

Not for me. Actually my doc let me advance my diet as tolerated. Since I am diabetic my blood sugars were doing a rollercoaster. So by day 10 I was eating mushy/soft food like fish, mashed potatoes and such. It really helped to get my BS under control by getting back to a seminormal eating schedule. I haven't looked back. I go next week for my "four" week checkup. It is really being done at six weeks but that is okay cause then I can get a fill. So transitioning from liquids to mushy/soft was very easy for me. M

The two most common themes for this time of your surgery are SIP, SIP, SIP and WALK, WALK, WALK. I found it difficult to get enough fluids/food liquids the first few days. But then my swelling went down and I have had no problems since about days 8 - 10. I personally didn't have a lot of gas. It is very individual what you will experience. Did your doc give you instructions to follow post surgery? Myra

Hi U Perk Ma I was banded 5/19. Everyone is different but most folks don't have real restriction until their band is being adjusted. Although you do hear of folks doing well without fills but most folks have to start having their band filled to have real restriction. I too can eat anything I wamt right now. So until I reach my "sweet spot" for restriction I have to be careful in my food choices. Not to say you don't have to be careful after reaching optimimal fill. Good luck. Go over the the Lapband support forum and introduce yourself on the May 2006 Band Crew June Chat thread. This is a thread for folks banded in May 2006 so we are all going through similar things right now. M

Just wanted to say welcome and congrats on your banding. I was banded four weeks ago today so I don't have any suggestions for a plateau breaker but you could do a general search. I have seen several threads about this. Myra

Hey Everybody. I just added Laurie Jane & brother and Purple Weeble to our list of Merry Maysters 2006 on page 4 and that puts us around 106 folks on the list. We just keep growing and growing. Myra

HELP Financing Suggestions/I'm about to give up
Mvpo8961 replied to jjolive's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Have you tried Capital One Healthcare financing? I think they are pretty liberal. Myra http://www.capitalonehealthcarefinance.com/ -

New Sho I think in the land of lapband you have few peers. Not many have lived through your experiences and come out ahead of the situation. M

http://www.lapband4u.com/ Here is the website for Dr. Louis Fox. He has an office at Medical City of Dallas. Know of several folks that have seen him and all liked him. Do you have insurance coverage or are you going to self pay. I know Dr. Fox uses the Surgery Center of Richardson (SCOR) and they charge 15,000 for banding for self pay. That was in January so I don't know if there has been any change but if so it will probably be very little. Myra

I am starting to wonder about my choice.
Mvpo8961 replied to dovie6523's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Dovie I have been wondering about you. I knew it was getting close for the six month wl program to be over. I would say see the surgeon just so you know your options. I can understand the reluctance of the staff to jump right in when you have yet to see the doc. It takes a lot a resources to work on one patients case. Many are reluctant to put that effort into someone who then may not be their patient. With insurance dictating where you can and can't go (because the ins plan only contracts with certain docs) it is common to have to switch docs. I still am going through the did I do the right thing stage. But you know what my brother who had RNY went through the same stage. I think anytime you face a life altering decision you second, third, fourth etc guess yourself. The best you can do is make an informed decision and then believe in yourself. Keeping my fingers crossed for ya. Myra -
That is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO funny. I get hormonal about once a year (pcos) and this is that week. To top it off my 15 y/o DD is hormonal also this week. My poor husband (who grew up with three sisters and a mother) is at the end of his rope it think. I will definitely pass this on to him. Myra

New Sho I want to say I am positively in awe of how upbeat you have stayed through many years of difficult situations. You still keep plugging away in the face of adversity. THAT TAKES COURAGE AND PERSISTENCE. I understand you were upset by the PM that was sent to you. However I went back and read your original posts and you do say the SURGEON considered you a lapband failure. You also said in one post that you were coming out of the lapband failure closet. Now I realize you were venting about a difficult situation. Someone else (probably new to researching lapband) would probably truly desire to understand why you would make that statement. They might consider it rather tacky to just put the question on an open forum. I am not trying to be mean or anything like that. Truly I am not so please don't be mad. I really do admire your courage. Myra
