What about a bean burrito for breakfast? Or Atkins breakfast bar. I eat the cinnamon one and it has 12 gms Protein. I also use them for snack. I also like to mix a half cup of refried Beans and a half cup of taco meat and eat that with a little cheese. M

How would you do with ham? What do the foods do to you. Do you just not like the taste or do you have some type of reaction to the Protein foods? Myra

Hi Emily I think when I do my grocery shopping this week I am going to get some. I have a recipe for crackers to try it on. Here is the recipe if your interested. Almond Thins 1 cup almond flour 1 packet spenda 1 egg white pinch of salt, garlic powder and onion powder Preheat oven to 325. Mix ingredients well. Place mixture onto a well greased piece of tin foil. Spray a piece of wax paper with cooking spray and lay over top of mixture. Use a rolling pin to roll out to cracker thickness. Gently remove wax paper. Sprinkle more salt on top if desired and press lightly into dough. Score with knife or pizza cutter into squares. Lay tin foil on roack in oven. Bake until golden brown ab out 10 minutes. Makes around 48 crackers. They should have the same calories as the whole grain wheat crackers that I am currently using (12 calories per cracker). But they will have a fraction of the carbs. Myra

Diva if your scared of the wrong operation then write on yourself with a black magic marker the surgery that you are having. I specifically requested my port to be placed on my right side and wrote on my stomach "port right side please" per my surgeons request. Myra

My doc didn't say that I couldn't drive but he did say that most patients wait 3 - 5 days before driving. I could have driven within a couple of days but didn't have to. How far of a drive are you going to have to make? M -

an introduction and a thank you
hello, i found this awesome forum while searching for lap-band information for my aunt. last october, she told me that she was planning to have GB. when i asked her if she'd heard of LB, she said no. well, i proceeded to track down and give her as much information as possible. from our discussions, she decided that the LB was for her and convinced her doctor of it as well. since her surgery on 11/22/04, she's lost 75 pounds! she has between 200 - 230 to go and is determined to reach her goal. the lost 75 pounds has already resulted in a better quality of life, and she has hope that she can finally get her weight under control. and she is extremely grateful to me for turning her on to the band. she never felt quite right about GB, but didn't know there was another option. so why am i posting and not her? HA! well, she isn't an internet chatter and i am. but i did want to register and say that i understand your struggles, and i am inspired by your successes. and even though my weight struggle is 10 pounds (well 10 pounds now, but it has been as much as 70 pounds in my life and 30 pounds 2 or 3 times) i have felt/and feel a lot of the same emotions about weight, weight loss, food, nutrition, and exercise as you do. and can i tell you something? i truly believe that LBs will someday be approved as an elective surgery for weight maintenance. i know that i would get one. and i am convinced that some celebrities already have. well, that's all. thanks for being such a great resource.
I wanted to quote your original first post and say that I admire 1 Your willingness to stand by your Aunt and help her. 2 Anybody that can make a connection with our struggles 3 Being an inspiration for us Keep up the good work. We need folks like you. Myra

I want to play but I don't go for my second post op appt till next week on the 28th of course. Can I join in the next one? Myra
-
Sherri you are a bundle of nerves girl. Get a hold of yourself and stop the madness. Talk to your doc about it if you are worried. I will tell you that I had somewhat elevated liver enzymes before my surgery and it had no impact on doing the surgery itself. I did my preop South Beach Phase 1 for 10 days and my liver was fine. But your doc should be the person that you rely on for info. Myra
