I was wondering who on the boards eats primarily organic foods. I am in the beginning stages of trying to switch over to an organic kitchen. Was wondering where folks shopped and what kinds of things are they getting. M

Congrats to your sister for her soon to be banding and for having wonderful support from you. Best wishes for her to have a smooth surgery and speedy recovery. M -
Yes I have decided that I am going to give the buffalo meat a try. Had to talk to DH about it as he is very skeptical of anything new like that. I will probably get some in a couple of weeks when I make my next trip to Whole Foods. Thanks for the tip about the cooking. I bought one of those indoor grills and I will probably make burgers on it for the family. Put a little liquid smoke on it and see what it tastes like. Glad to hear Tired Old Man and his DW like it also. Lots to learn isn't there. Myra

Hi Nanahanna I was thinking about writing you soon. I know you don't have long to wait now. I am holding my breath till you let me know how things go. (Laughing) Randi congrats on the banding. Time will fly and you'll be getting filled and making us all jealous with how skinny you'll be getting. Myra

Thanks ya'll. I did go to Whole Foods yesterday. It is a dizzying array of foods isn't it. The way they mix conventionally grown food with organically is kinda confusing. It took till this morning to realize they only sell fresh meat and not frozen meat. So I am going to have to rethink the way I buy meat now. I did get some almond flour and whole wheat flour and wheat germ so I am going to start switching my staples over. Butter, milk, string cheese for the kiddo and lots of veggies and fruits. Have any of ya'll ate buffalo burgers? They have packs of ground buffalo meat. I'm thinking maybe a little too exotic for me. I am going to keep at it though till I get it figured out. I'll have to check out Central Market also. No Trader Joes that I know of around DFW. M

LindaV DO YOU STILL HAVE RESTRICTION? (laughing) I couldn't resist. M
-
Jolyow I have only lost about 18 lbs since May 3rd (that is when I started my preop diet). But that's okay (says laughingly because I wouldn't have lost this without getting banded). I didn't gain the weight overnight and I am not going to lose it overnight. We are really just now getting out of the healing phase anyway. I go for my first fill next week. But I have a VG band and know it may take a few months to reach optimal restriction. Don't be discouraged. Just stay focused and time will do the rest. I would probably up my calories to 1000 - 1200 a day. Sometimes when you drop to a low level of calorie intake it will stall your weightloss. Myra

Hey I wanna see a picture of ya'll in your "summer leathers" in Dallas in AUGUST. Makes my brain boil thinking about how hot it will be here. M

New from the Nati (Cincinnati) ? about Protein Drinks
Mvpo8961 replied to SherryE's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
GNC carries Isopure. It is a clear RTD Protein Drink. Most folks seem to like the grape flavor. Google GNC and search their site for Isopure. Unjury.com has an unflavored Protein powder that folks also mix in smoothies and such. I personally tried several different ones at a lot of expense before surgery. After surgery I could only drink skim milk with carnation instant Breakfast in it for about four - seven days. Everything else made me queasy. Then I was getting ready to move off liquids so I was able to get the Protein I needed without resorting to protein powders or RTD stuff. Everybody is different though. I realize your lactose intolerant and can't do the milk. I am just saying don't get too hung up on finding the perfect protein drink. It usually is a short time that you need it. M -
Mskobe read around the forum. There are lots of folks that do fine. Remember that many times on this type forum you hear from folks when they are having problems. So don't let that rattle you. Read, research and ask lots of questions. Myra

How's it going? Have you tried any of the suggestions and did they work? Myra
-
Yep mine too will get it. My 15 y/o is going for her first pap smear Monday the 3rd and we WILL be asking about it. My best friend's sister developed cervical cancer at 19. Later breast cancer and died before 30. Wouldn't you feel terrible as a parent if your daughter died from cervical cancer that a vaccination was available for? M

Niecy how much is the lifetime benefit on your husband's policy. I too have a limit but the hospital where I had my surgery charged in network prices for my surgery so it fell under the limit. Most insurances negotiate a contract price that is below what the selfpay patient would pay. M
