Congrats on the job Marissa. That is so exciting for you. My DD just got her first job last week and will get her first paycheck this Friday. It is terribly exciting to get that first paycheck and be able to have your own money. M

I'm a Texas gal but I wanted to say WELCOME TO LBT. Myra

Well fiddlesticks:faint: . Your right it will be here in no time and make all this waiting seem like nothing:nervous . There is a lady on the introductions forum that is contemplating surgery with Dr. Carter. Her name is Denise H and she would like to hear from others that have seen him. She says in her post she is going to be banded August 21st. Just thought you might want to know. Myra

dovie how did your surgery go? Are you feeling better. Check in when you can. Myra

Is he one of the docs in Arlington? We have another lady on here that is being banded in a few weeks by a Dr. Carter. M

lorgurl7 being hungry is kinda an individual thing so soon after surgery. I personally was hungry and on mushies by days 8 - 10. But my doc let me advance my diet as tolerated. The hunger diminishes as you get your fills. They say the worst time for a bandster is between surgery and when you get to your optimal fill level. Simply because we are HUNGRY. You are still in the healing phase so you really shouldn't worry about the amount of calories you eat at this point. You need to get enough Protein and calories or you will start to feel tired and run down. That sharp pain on your left side is a common pain. I personally didn't experience but have read posts of others who did. Some even had it for a few months although not constantly. Do a lot of reading on here. There are a lot of smart folks with good advice. Welcome to LBT. Myra

Congrats on your decision. A lot of changes going on for ya. Best of luck and a speedy recovery. Myra

Denise who is doing your band? The surgeon should have a list of allowable foods. It will depend where you are in the list, thin liquids, thick liquids, mushies or regular food. My doc had thick liquids the second week and I was able to advance to mushies as I tolerated them. So by days 8 - 10 I was pretty much eating normal but soft foods. I don't drink Water. But I do drink 5 - 6 glasses (16 ounces) of Wyler's light pink lemonade a day. Congrats on getting Aetna to approve. I hear they are one tough cookie. Welcome to LBT. Myra

congrats shantell I am glad everything is going well for you. Keep us posted. Myra

The first doc I called for an eval told me they did not approve of weight loss surgery and I would be better off seeking and evaluation elsewhere. If I had insisted (because they WERE listed on my insurance as a provider) I don't think I would have gotten a positive evaluation. So if the doc won't take insurance for the eval it might be a polite way of saying we don't want your business and you would be better served going elsewhere. M

Bumping for kittylover
-
kittylover it sounds to me like the first thing you need to do is call UHC yourself and see if there is an exclusion on your policy. Employers are able to pick and choose what they want to cover when they set up with the insurance plan with UHC. When you enrolled in your insurance you should have been given a summary plan description. In my case it is a booklet about a 1/2 inch thick that tells me what all is and isn't covered with my plan. If you don't have a SPD you can request one from your human resource person. You also can ask them about an exclusion but know that they aren't always up to speed on what is and isn't covered. Also you can call UHC directly and ask them if lapband is a covered procedure and what are the criteria for coverage. Such as a six month physician supervised weight loss plan. Know that you will be talking to a service rep and be persistent to get answers. Ask for a copy of their policy to be sent to you in writing. After you see your bariatric surgeon they will submit a letter with documentation to the insurance company if you don't have an out and out exclusion. Then it is a waiting game. Read some of the other posts on here. Do a search for UHC and you will find lots of info. Don't give up yet it sounds like you still have lots of info that needs to be addressed. Kittylover look at the my screaming in frustration thread and you will get an idea how difficult UHC can be. I just bumped it for you so you should see it when you refresh your page. Myra
-
kittylover I'm a little confused. Did you have your consult with a bariatric surgeon? Have they submitted a letter of predetermination to UHC? Who told you you were denied? Are you sure your policy doesn't have an EXCLUSION for weightloss surgery? Give us a little more info about your situation. A true denial should be accompanied by a letter for UHC giving the reasons why. Then you can appeal that decision. However if your policy has an exclusion then there usually is very little to be done. There is a big difference between denial and exclusion. Myra

Hey babs I live in Collin County and our subdivision is a newer one. We have had a tremendous problem with BW spiders in the whole subdivision with with some folks being bit and requiring hospitalization. I personnally kill at least six a year around my house. My husband and I spider hunt at night with a flashlight. We start that in May because the first egg sacs can be laid that early in the year. Once you learn to recognize their web then they are easy to spot. Their web is a completely disorganized tangle. But it usually has very few strands so they are really easy to overlook. Weep holes around the foundation are a favorite hangout. Anyplace that can get a breeze blowing through it (like where two walls meet outside) are good places to look. Under the rim of seating of outdoor furniture, under the wall hangar for garden hoses. We even had a BW hide in the metal handle of a shovel that was on our patio against the wall this year. Took some work to kill that bugger but we got her. Yes they can kill a large dog in a matter of a few minutes. Good luck with trying to eradicate them. Myra

Jen I have a different take on the limited information. If you really really REALLY love this guy then I think you should fight for him. You ask is he scared/shallow about you being thin. But what if he is truly caring/hopeful that you get healthy. We all make mistakes in life and maybe he is realizing he made the "big one". It is difficult to advise when we truly don't know all the situation. I realize you were deeply hurt but sometimes hurting causes us to really look at a situation and think about ways to change it for the better. Friendship is to be valued and if you can maintain a friendship with a best friend that is valuable also. Myra

Ladydi I am pretty computer illiterate also but this is what I do to copy. I put my mouse pointer at the beginning of what I want to copy. Then I left click and continue to hold down the left side of the mouse down and drag my mouse pointer to the end of what I want to copy. This will highlight the whole area blue. Then I put my mouse point in the blue area and right click. This will give me a little menu where I go to the copy function and click on it. Now at this point you can pull up your signature box and you don't lose the information that you copied. Once I get the signature box up then I put the mouse arrow in the blank box and right click again. You will get another menu that has a paste function on it. Click on that and it will automatically copy everything you previously highlighted into the signature box. I hope this isn't too basic or redundant. Myra

flower they have surgeries where they make an incision, remove excess skin and then suture your skin back together. The incision for the arms would be under your arm so it is least viewable. Same with the thigh area. Don't worry there is a way to fix it when your ready!!!!!!! http://www.infoplasticsurgery.com/bodycontouring/armlift.html http://www.advanced-art.com/ThighPlasty.htm M
