    Sleeved jan 4th

Definitely sounded like there was an issue. Glad they figured it out and hope you start feeling better. Everybody is different so probably why so many posts on pain levels. I literally had zero pain from surgery recovery to today and just about 4 weeks post. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Easy perfect turkey

Peanut Oil has been the key to a good deep fried turkey for us in past. We cook ours in a large portable roaster so frees up oven and moist as can be. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Relatively low BMI results

I had GERDS prior and sleeved 12/16 and so far it's been good with no discomfort at all. Maybe because I'm not having any of the worst "trigger" foods or drinks. Hoping it doesn't get bad down the road as I'm reading is the case for some. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Spouse issues ?

I was sleeved 12/16/16 and before surgery told my husband no candy in my Xmas stocking and yet there was a 1/2 my favorite See's chocolate, couple candy bars too and he continually asks if I want to go out to eat. I keep reminding him not yet so not sure why he does this. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    VSG pain vs. c-section pain?

One c-section and seriously VSG experience has been a breeze from first day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. I had sleeve 12/16/16 and literally NO pain, no gas. Only felt nauseous the next morning getting dressed to leave and got some Med in my IV and that went away quick. I read a lot too so was actually shocked at how good I felt. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. Sleeved 12/16 and was off for 2 weeks vacation/holiday days so back 1/3 (planned it that way since I was going to be off end of year) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

5 oz of protein OR 10 cookies

I just ordered some Cookies from this site that have about 15 grams of Protein and HaloTop ice cream also has high protein so plan on having a bite of either when feel the urge. Not sure how the cookie will taste but I was buying that ice cream pre-op and it's good. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Protein and collagen powders

I am 17 days post op and trying hard to get in 60-70 oz from Protein powder throughout the day. I've used collagen powder in Water for over a year that was suggested for better facial skin and continue to add to my water. costco also sells it in liquid strawberry-kiwi that you pour into a bottle of water which is pretty good tasting. Taking pills, how far apart?

I was told not to take full capsules until day 30. I do chewable or liquid right now because even crushed multi were nasty even in yogurt. I am mixing calcium powder from the capsule into yogurt for now and do take that 2 hours after Multivitamin Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Surgery is NEXT MONDAY! What should I expect?!

I was sleeved 12/16/16 and had read all these things people packed and did bring a bit too much because of everything I read. All I used was my slippers, toothbrush, face wipe at night, extension cord to keep my phone plugged it and my iPad. I used one or 2 Gasx strips but really would have been ok without. I feel I was extremely fortunate in that I was up and walking a few hours after recover and had literally no pain from that first day not even incision pain so yes everyone is different. I felt nauseous once the next morning when I was getting dressed to leave so got some meds in my IV. Now about 17 days post and can eat 6-7 oz creamy Soups with Protein powder in about 15 mins which seems more than the few bites some people mention so makes me wonder if left too much stomach! I have only thrown up once from Restaurant lobster bisque being too rich. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    STARTING FROM ZERO ... TODAY

Also to add to my comment my high was 230 and after pre-op liquid I as 195 at day of surgery and Dr had me at BMI 31.5 so not sure how was the same BMI another reader calculated at 5'5" (my height too) and 183. But again if anyone wants to cut their stomach off for what THEIR reason may be that's their choice and sorry I still can't get over someone else being offended by that. STARTING FROM ZERO ... TODAY

I'm 5'5" and had a BMI of 31.5 and had mine done in Mexico. NO ONE here should comment that they are offended by someone else's decision. That is so wrong. You should either offer support or constructive advise otherwise not comment. It's not as if anyone who has chosen to do the sleeve with a low BMI is taking ANYTHING away from anyone else who qualified for insurance reasons so it's hard to understand any comment about being offended. It's a personal choice for personal reasons whether your BMI is 29 or 45. No judgement to either end of the range. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. I was sleeved 12/16/16. As of a week post op I really feel like I can drink Water without it being small sips and easily drink 8-12 oz in say 15-20 mins time with no problem. I'm also starting to be hungry with stomach growling daily. I seem to read how people can drink around 4 oz in an hour so I'm curious to hear from those a week out if they have seen in fairly big easing up on liquids going down quicker. I can even eat an entire yogurt cup diluted with milk in about 20 mins with no pain. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. I'm in the same boat! I was sleeved in TJ, MX a day after you and not counting pre-op loss I've only lost 5 lbs since my surgery date. I am on the lower end of BMI so will take it as I won't be one of those losing 7+ lbs a week. As of yesterday I have felt like I can drink or even have a cup of creamy Soup in like 15-20 mins with no issues. From all I've read people say it takes them up to 2 hours to finish a Protein shake so I'm concerned that it all of a sudden doesn't seem I have to go super slow. How are you finding it like in terms of how long it takes to drink a cup of creamy soup, etc? I have not even once felt like I was going to throw up. Not sure if should be grateful or concerned. 19. I arrived in San Diego Thursday afternoon, picked up on time and taken to Marriott in TJ, Mexico. Friday AM hotel shuttled 4 of us to surgical clinic for OCC at 6:15 am. Entire process was very organized, very friendly staff and great Doctor who came in and chatted for about 10 mins to get to know me a bit. One patient had arrived late Wednesday so all her tests were done Thursday so she was first one for surgery while rest of got all our tests done and taken to our private rooms. I believe I went 2nd or 3rd (little after noon). In recovery around 1:30 for 30 mins then back to my room. This is now where I'm wondering if I had the surgery (I do have the 5 scars though) because I literally had no pain after other than feeling like I had done 100 sit-ups (I know pain meds in my IV) no gas pains (few burps here and there), walked about 30 mins after and maybe did the short halls 10x back/forth maybe 5 times. This AM Dr came in to review meds taking with me and by 7:30ish back at Marriott. I had no problem with a small Water bottle day of surgery and this morning already had cup of tea and a bottle of water, all went down no problem. Go back Monday AM for the leak test then straight to airport. Maybe it will get rougher next feel days but as if know just pleasantly surprised at how easy it's been so far. 20. I went with Dr. Ariel Ortiz at OCC. Sleeved 12/16/16. So far 4 days post op and all is going really good. Had no pain (took my pain meds just 2 days) and incisions have no pain either. Just trying hard to get my fluids in daily. I liked the process, the entire staff at OCC, having my own room their overnight was important to me and having own room recovering few days at the Marriott (the staff there is definitely good with the process as I think they do majority of their business thru the clinics booking patients there). All shuttling is to done with hotel vans and OCC. I know in researching Mexico I spent more then other centers charged but it was worth it for all the things that were important to me for this experience! 21. @@megetslim hope your surgery went well and starting off smooth. I'm feeling really good today, day 4. It is hard to get all Water in (drank about 40 oz today) and 2 Soups with Protein added cause just not hungry. I stopped taking my pain meds end of day 2. Have zero pain, even in incisions. So far all is great. Look forward to hearing how you're doing. HW 230, SW 200, CW 194, GW 140 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. One comment to share, I brought a carry on and one of the medications they give you is a 5 oz bottle you need to add Water to and start taking the first day so then u need to check in your luggage on way home or bring with u a bottle that is 3 oz or less u can pour the rest into and take in carry on. @@DogRescueGal Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. I chose OCC in TJ, Mex with doctor Ariel Ortiz. Airport pick up and crossing border was seamless and same with Marriott check in. Marriott vans shuttle groups to the various clinics string at 6:15.. Arrived around 6:30 am with 4 others. One patient had all her pre-op texts done yesterday so she was first. Rest of us then followed with all our tests., I went in around noon. After was moved out of surgery room into small recovery section where I woke up 1:15 and after 30 mins there moved to my private suite. Nurses come in and check up and then asked me to walk the halls. As of now the only discomfort if feeling like I have stomach ache. We shall see as day progresses but no real pain or gas up to this point! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
