Protein intake, struggling
bossportsgal replied to vsgbeauty13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does she mix it with like 8 ounces and drinks it? Don't with that portion of protein for the day? I just find that even the unflavored has flavor. I'm struggling with getting liquids down. -
I am 5 weeks post op and lately I get stressed and regret what I did. I had such a food addiction. I miss it so much. And then I see Oprah commercials and she lost 40 lbs eating whatever she wants. But yet I can't even get a piece of chicken down. PLEEASSSEE tell me this feeling will go away!!! I'm happy to be losing weight but worried that my addiction to food will never go away. Severely Missing Food
bossportsgal replied to jro5360's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lots of food and gross bad food like McDonald's is what got us here in the first place. It's an addiction and normal to feel like you miss it. But post surgery the hormone that tells your brain to eat is gone. So what we are experiencing is head hunger and acid reflux that can make you think hunger. I'm one month post op and sometimes get so sad because I can't eat what the rest of the family is eating. But then I remind myself of how BAD real bad that crap is. I move my thinking to how good I'm going to feel and look and how already I am more focused and losing weight during this recovery of surgery. I'm starting back at the gym this week and looking forward to toning up. It's just a matter of time for us to heal from this major surgery! We had a portion of a bodily organ taken out of us. Let's heal. But I know it's hard. It's real hard. Focus on present moment and try to stay busy during those moments of "I'm hungry and want pizza" phase. It will pass! Good luck all. I'm with ya! I had mine 1/11 I am on soft food now. chicken with gravy fish etc. same thing happens to Me. I tried to ear chicken with sweet potato but didn't follow the rules and my stomach killed. Protein first then move to veggie or starch. It's a new lifestyle and I have to get used to it. I admit I still get head hungry and I get sad when I can't eat pizza with the rest of my family. But I remember that that food my body doesn't need. I'm losing weight I'm getting as much liquids and protein in that I can but I know that my body is still healing and that I am told over time it will get a lot easier. Does anyone else do this (chew food for taste)
bossportsgal replied to Gman1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 1/11. I do chew food and spit it out or give to dogs. I miss chewing for sure. But I'm slowly giving that up. Make sure your filling up on your Protein. After surgery you lose the hormone that sends the Brian the message to ear. So I am. It sure is the saliva going to your stomach will send a message of not Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I had mine on 1/11/17. Yes that feeling will go away. Just drink those liquids slowly. You need to heal. It's a challenge. And I'm sick of liquid. Just moved on to next stage. And it's good to be chewing again. But just can't get it all down. Key words are chew chew chew. And slow slow slow. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
