Happy New Year Everyone!!! Looking forward to achieving my goal weight in this new year. Surprisingly I didn't gain over the holidays. I actually lost a few pounds. I just haven't had an appetite lately. I wish every one even more success with the band in 2010!!:thumbup::tongue2::thumbup::smile2::thumbup::w00t::thumbup::scared2::thumbup:

Hello Everyone! Merry Christmas!!!

It is definitely due to being tooooo tight. I have been battling with these disgusting symptoms for the last 3 weeks and very reluctant to go in and have the doctor take out some of the fluid but I went in today and he took 1 CC out of the 7.5CC's in my band and immediately I found relief. I could actually swallow water!!! No more acid reflux symptoms all day and no more spit bombs - my husband was threatening to buy me a container that the guys that chew tobacco use......can think of the name. I was so reluctant because I thought the restriction would go away on its own but what a nightmare I put myself through!!!! Thank God for this relief!!!!!!

Poll: How many have acid reflux problems?
Numbrgirl replied to NJChick's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was very reluctant to have anything taken out of the band but after several weeks of the worst acid reflux, restriction and very little sleep, I finally went to see my doctor. He took out 1 CC of the 7.5 CCs in my band and IMMEDIATELY I felt relief, no more acid reflux symptoms. I don't know why I fought it so long. I guess I thought the band would just become less restrictive over the following weeks from the last fill - what a nightmare. I will NEVER do that again!!!! I would encourage anyone that is reluctant like I was to change your mind and find some RELIEF!!!!! Thank GOD!!!!! -
Glam~ Can you possibly stand back and do an objective evaluation of every part of your life with the band? Sometimes that is a useful and productive way to make some changes or corrections. You obviously know the band can work - especially in light of your tremendous weight loss. I wouldn't say the band is failing or you are failing - I would say maybe it is stalled..... Sometimes our bodies get so used the same routine, same intake of food, etc. that it needs to be surprised a bit. Maybe try to add different exercise and more protein supplements. I hate to see anyone seemingly give up especially when there is so much more potential. I pray that the Lord give you some insight into the best way for you to proceed.

Oh Ladies, today I got relief!!!!! I explained everything to my doctor and he immediately explained that more than likely some of my upper stomach has pushed itself up into the band and this has made the restriction tighter than ever. I was sitting with 7.5 CCs and he took 1 CC out and immediately I could swallow much easier, the tightness was not as intense and I have not experienced acid reflux or the associated symptoms all day. I cannot hardly believe that 1 CC can make such a difference. I have to tell you my doc was so surprised by my loss to date and indicated that this was some of the best progress he had ever seen since he has been doing bands. As you might imagine that made me feel really good. He then told me "now don't go eating a bunch of donuts since I took some Fluid out!' Are you kidding me? I'm not that loose!!! Besides I still have 40 lbs on the horizon!!! Anyway, I just wanted to encourage anyone that is too tight and suffering from these symptoms - have the doc take some out, I was very reluctant and fought it too long to the point I was making myself sick!! Now looking forward to moving on with weight loss and exercise!!

I think we all have a hard time with surrendering. It seems like we want to just exhaust every avenue, get frustrated, disappointed and totally burned out before we get a "duh" moment and remember that the Bible tells us to cast all our cares onto him, surrender to him, and in doing so make our burden so much lighter. This band has been a valuable tool but there is still some surrendering and relinquishing of control that needs to go on in order for it to work properly. I keep my hope placed in Him. Continued best wishes to everyone in their act of surrender!! LOL.

Sorry to sound like a cliche - but you do it one day at a time. Each day brings its own challenges, frustrations, disappointments, etc. We just need to learn to surrender to God - in all areas of our life. So many times we view the word "surrender" as giving up or being defeated - but think about it - when we finally give up our own ways and surrender to God - this is when the VICTORY starts!!!! Our act of surrender brings us to Victory with Him - because we are no longer leading.....He is. Keep the faith ladies!!! Try Activia Yogurt - it really works for digestion issues.
