My Name is Tasha -- alias #LuvTheSkinImIn and I joined this site to follow those on a journey similar to mine as well as share my journey with others.  I have learned that many people who have undergone this type of surgery (or any type of weight loss surgery) are facing the same types of challenges and need an outlet to share, vent, cry or squeal!  I know I do!

The reason for my surgery was not just that I was overweight.  In Fact,  With a BMI of 49.9 medical professionals referred to me as uh, MORBIDLY OBESE.  On that note, I hope to never hear my name in the same sentence as those words (MORBIDLY OBESE) again.

In 2011, I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis, Congestive Heart Failure, Diabetes, Pulmonary Embolism and Cardio Myopathy, (brought on by that dickens of the Sarcoid disease).  At this time, I weighed about 225 -- keep in mind, I am a little person... Only 5'2".  The doctors told me if I didn't exercise or do SOMETHING to lose the weight, I would certainly meet an early demise.  Then about 2 months later, I went in for a simple heart test and I was told my heart was only functioning at 11%.  A normal person's heart [ejection fraction] is at 60% or better.  So I way was below the health curve.  And -- The cherry on top?  I was told I would have to get a pacemaker.  "I'm sorry, come again? WHAT?  I am only 36?

I knew then, something had to give - So I set out to do just that.  Only to yo-yo back and forth losing 20, but gaining 30...losing 60 gaining 80.... You’ve been there I am sure.  For me, losing has never been the issue.  Its that keeping it off little "monster" that is hard for me to shake.  The thing is... I LOVE the GYM. I have since the 80's and Richard Simmons was all the rage.  But I LOVE FOOD even more.

Besides joining this site, I have created a blog www.skiniamin.weebly.com  Feel free to peep it if you like! Looking forward to sharing with all of you!
