Coming up to soft mushy phase
linziyo replied to QueenTiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll still have to supplement with shakes right now. Try mashed beans, yogurt, soft scrambled eggs, ricotta or cottage cheese to add in some extra protein with real food. Depending on your plan, you might be able to do some braised meat or deli meat too. Pinterest has alot of great ideas if you search bariatric soft foods! -

I think most plans recommend trying to sip 1oz every 15 minutes. You need to avoid dehydration!

I feel you. I only had a 2 week preop, but with post op I will have 5 weeks of liquid diet altogether. Im in my 3rd week right now and its definitely challenging, but gets easier after the first week. The frozen meals will help! Good luck to you

Im glad im not the only one! Seems like people on here are progressing faster than my surgeon recommended for me and its depressing lol and I feel your pain. I started liquids on July 17th, Surgery on July 31st and cant start pureed foods until August 21st.... 5 weeks of boring liquids. We just gotta keep chugging along and I know itll be worth it!

You will be absolutely fine. Dont stress. Just move forward and try to keep on your plan the next seven days. Dont avoid meals you could be having either!

I never had one bit of nausea... but my doctor put a tiny scopolamine patch behind my ear the second i got to the hospital and it lasted 72 hours. I was also offered zofran during my stay and took some home (sublingual). Im sure theyd give it IV in severe forms. Just make sure your doctor knows of this fear, especially if you are prone to nausea, and im sure they can lay a plan out for you to feel more comfortable!

Horrible bathroom problems

Yes, contact your doctor! There is never any harm in calling and a week without any BM is plenty long enough. -
Hi SpicyEvie! How are you doing?
-
I did a 14 full liquid diet, including proteim creamed soups and pudding. Day before surgery was clear only. First week post op I am on clear liquid + protein shakes as tolerated after day 3 2nd week full liquid 3rd week pureed foods 4th week soft foods 5th week normal diet Luckily I havent really wanted much so it has been easy so far, but Im getting super sick of broth as my only savory option. I did find some specialty bone broths at the kowalskis deli today in cool flavors like beef pho and chicken curry that Im really excited about haha. Once I get to the purreed stage, I think I will have lots of options... it does seem like forever though!

I feel really good, thanks for asking! Gas pain is the worst and some stomach spasms when I drink, but its managable. Not hungry at all. I plan on being completely off pain meds tomorrow and I barely had anything today! I havent had any buyers remorse so far! My surgery was at Abbott Northwestern and I had a phenomenal team, but I think we are lucky to have so many great hospitals in the metro that you will be well taken care of too

Hey Lea, Im in Minnesota too! Mom of 2 boys and married for 7 years. Sleeved on 7/31 and looking forward to the journey ahead.

Shoulders and diaphragm are on fire
linziyo replied to Jerry C's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had my surgery yesterday as well. Im still taking the pain medication and walking as much as I can. I definitely can feel the gas pain though throughout my upper chest, shoulders and back. Ive heard other people mention that gas-x may help but I dont have any yet. Hoping tomorrow will be a bit better for the both of us! -
