  1. Hi Amber, I was sleeved Tuesday the eleventh and was in the hospital two days because of similar pains and nausea as well as vomiting. Turns out my surgeon said my case was due to left over gas from surgery and gerd as I was not taking my omeprazole due to surgery. I have restarted now that I feel a bit better. I am unsure about the yogurt as I am not allowed soft food yet, just liquids. We are still early out and our pouches are super swollen. Your tummy might not be tolerating the thickness of yogurt. I have even heard about people who became lactose intolerant after surgery. Please double check with your Bariatric Surgeon and Team. They will guide you the right way per the diet they put you on. On another note, I have found some great juice options with 15g protein each on the Bariatric Pal store here that will help if you are still having a hard time with water. It is helping me a lot as I cannot stand water right now but I also do not want to return to hospital for dehydration:( I stayed 2 days and it was not fun. Will not be going back if I can help it! Good luck to you dear. Aloha [emoji16]

  5. Hi everyone. I have been on here quite a while but did not post much aside from congratulating others on their journeys. I guess it never really felt real for me until now. Started this journey on November last year and got the last of my testing done by beginning of March. Submitted and approved week and a half later. Had to wait for surgeon's schedule to open. Surgery is tomorrow and I am feeling quite calm. I did my preop liquid diet the past 2 weeks and have gotten past the anxious state. I am wondering now if I am a bit too calm or will nerves kick in later? I had gallbladder removed late last year and egd was also under anesthesia. Am I feeling too comfy because of that? Is this even normal? Just can't wait to be on the loser's bench and start on my rebirth! Good luck to those still waiting. Your time will come. Aloha[emoji3]

I have had second third and 10th thoughts since preop liquid but keeping goals in mind and watching others journeys to success here and on YouTube has helped tremendously. You will check into the hospital and go under anesthesia. The doctor directs a "scope" with a camera at the end down your throat into your esophagus and it allows him to view your stomache. He checks for ulcers, polyps...basically checks the condition of your stomache going into surgery. As my surgeon puts it, "wants to make sure he is not taking out the good part of your stomache if there are any issues. The main thing the surgeon checks for is the h. pylori bacteria which is a pain to have as they will have to put you on antibiotics to kill it before proceeding with your surgery. They do a biopsy for that while in your tummy and then when they are done, you wake up and usually are cleared to go home within the hour. The whole process takes maybe about 4 hours. Hope that helps you. Aloha[emoji2]

  18. As well you should hon! Nobody likes to be treated as if they are not there and not a participant in matters concerning them. How rude! Sad to say, but there are people like that. On the island I live, there is only one "team" so I did not really have options. Luckily it is a very supportive team. I am sorry you are experiencing this and I cannot say I have an answer for you by experience except be assertive. As you start to lose weight and gain confidence, speak up for Yourself. There are people in this world that fat shame in exactly the manner you described much as they would ignore anything else they didnt like. I am always flabbergasted by people who take up professions they are not suited for especially when it deals with People! Speak to your surgeon about your experience and ask if you can be referred to another dietician. You don't have to do anything or see anyone that makes you uncomfortable. I hope this gets better. On another note, wishing you a better Holiday season and congratulations on your post-op. Aloha???? Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

Just curious about the liquid diet.

It's mostly for people with fatty liver that need it to be reduced before surgery. You must not have a fatty liver so that's actually a good thing! Good luck on your surgery???? Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App

    This is NASTY!

Hi Raymia, I am currently in the preop liquid stage and I have wasted quite a bit of moola on disgusting shakes too. I finally found Atkins shakes (15g) and they are delicious. They come in packs of 4. The mocha, milk chocolate, cafe caramel, and dark chocolate are favorites. To switch it up french vanilla and strawberry are good too. You can usually find in a Walmart or Target. costco has a case of Premier Protein in an 18 pack. Its good too with twice the protein (30g) of Atkins but just one flavor. One flavor gets pretty old quickly so I stay with Atkins for variety. These brands are both creamy and the container makes it easy for on the go or slow lifestyles. On a side note...do not fall for Advantage shakes, only the package looks good. The shake comes put clumpy and yogurt like with a weird aftertaste. I hope this helps you.
