Thanks Biddynz, I said the same thing to those who had theirs before mine. It gives us perspective on how we could be too. Let's motivate and lift each other up! Aloha:) Sent from my SM-N920P using BariatricPal mobile app

LOL Shedo! I have seen this weird food ritual phenomenon in action! I think so long as we get our required protein, liquids, carbs, etc. we are good to go on whatever else we eat staying at appropriate calorie level as well. I drink my vitamins and fiber gummies and go through my facial routine every night before bed so that it's a no brainer and I am not worrying if I forgot to take it throughout the day when I am awake. Establishing some kind of routine is a must. Thr same goes for drinking times and eating times. When I was fresh out of surgery, it was such a chore! Now, it is so normal to me, I wonder how I was ever able to eat as much calories and food as I did before[emoji23] Sent from my SM-N920P using BariatricPal mobile app

Thanks. The struggle is very real. I was a wine drinker before surgery but was more on the moderate side. When my surgeon discussed it I kind of brushed it off thinking it wasn't going to be a problem. After surgery, as I am also a student often stressing on papers, I found I was reaching for the glass more than usual! I have to admit my shopping has leveled out as I am also a fan of online shopping. Lately, I have had to cut back as clothes I have been ordering end up sliding off me within weeks so I have resorted to shopping in my closet from previous years. I will wait until goal weight to shop again! lol. As for glowing skin, that is probably the vitamins that I take religiously or maybe its the makeup! lol. I have often seen some folks who end up with tired looking skin and I think it has to do with taking vitamins. I was a bit shocked to find out that not everyone takes them as they should:) Sent from my SM-N920P using BariatricPal mobile app

    My Transformation Journey

Aloha Desi, I couldn't have said it better! I had my surgery on April 11, 2017 and I started at 312 preop, surgery weight of 302 and currently at 274. I am losing very slowly and am still learning new things about this journey everyday. Finding the balance between macros, calories, etc. all the while reminding myself to eat. Some days, it almost seems easier to go without food but my bariatric team advised against that bad habit as it is not helping me lose. Some days I can go up to a 1000 calories or more and sometimes I am stuck at 500-800. I never know how my day will go or where I will be stuck without appropriate food so I have taken to carrying a "snack" bag at all times consisting of protein bars and other protein rich foods. I also used to sweat a lot here in humid Hawaii but as you mentioned, am now cold all the time. I also visit thr gym 3 times a week and think that has helped with my loss as I seemed to be losing even slower prior to that. I have to admit I for some reason am always thinking of leaks and although I show no signs of it I always have it on my mind since they tell us "you never really know" if it is happening due to subtle signs. Anyway, congratulations on your current success and may we continue down this path to our goals. Take care and God bless you. Aloha, Flo Sent from my SM-N920P using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi Seattle, You can flavor your water with whatever flavors of crystal light suit you, just make sure they are the caffeine free ones (usually noted in the nutrition fact section) so they don't irritate your tummy. Another caffeine free option if you were once a coffee lover and can't get over a morning coffee drive routine, I order a customized grande, decaf, little ice, no water, no sugar or milk iced Americano from Starbucks in the morning (try using the mobile app and then drive to pick up, so much easier for ordering no errors!). It comes to you basically taking up only half of the cup. I then add in the caramel flavored premier protein shake (usually found at Walmart along with other flavors, pretty awesome at 30 grams protein per 11 ounce carton) which acts as both a sweetener and milk substitute and I am good for breakfast! Try it, I really think you will like it. Powerade Zero and Propel water was allowed but it was too sweet for me. Basically my go to is the crystal light in decaf lemonade, peach tea flavor, peach mango green tea flavor, grape, etc. They have really helped me up my water intake which is about 50-60oz now at 1 month and 12 days post op. Now, the struggle is not getting it in but reminding myself to drink before the day is out. I get so caught up with work when I next glance at the clock it's time to go home and I have yet to start my third bottle or even second one. Hope that helps ya:) Sent from my SM-N920P using BariatricPal mobile app

It will! Trust the process and keep following your bariatric team's guidelines. I have to be honest and say I even had started to regret a bit like I went through the process and lost only a little before it stopped? This thought had started circulating in my head and then, breakthrough! You will see yours too. Patience is really a new thing for me with this process. Good luck[emoji16] Sent from my SM-N920P using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi Splat, No worries. I totally get it. I was just there last week (three week stall). I saw my surgeon yesterday for my one month postop and to advance to soft foods and finally saw the scale moving again. I was starting to freak out that I hadn't lost anything in two weeks. Saw my specialist doctor for the bariatrics and nutrition info today and learned that since my water intake was still below 60 oz, my body was holding onto water to preserve it. Another interesting thing I learned was that even though I was getting in all my protein usually through shakes and a bit of my pureed stage at the time, it did not amount to enough calories. With two 30 grams of protein each in the premier shakes I was using, calorie count was only at 160 calories each! She told me I actually at three weeks to one month post op need to be around 800-1000 calories and protein should be increased from 60 g to 80 g or more. I am now diligently watching my meal preps and making sure I eat even when I am not "hungry". She told me it is not about tastes or when I want to, it's about supplementing my body so it can function. I left with the promise of trying harder on both water and protein intake. Suffice it to say I stepped on scale today as I had stopped 3 days ago from discouragement and was pleasantly surprised stall had broken and I am down 3 lbs in 3 days! Hang in there and I hope this helps you. Aloha[emoji4] Sent from my SM-N920P using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. I thought preop and postop liquids were mine until I got to pureeds! suffice to say I went back to liquids to await soft foods. It is much easier with shakes now that I returned to work. After much research before surgery, I guess I did not count on food and sipping scheduling being a whole separate schedule from the rest of my day, i.e. work, school, my son, etc. crazy! what was your miserable phase?

Hi Teacup, I hear that! Said the exact same thing to my surgeon last week for my two weeks post op check. It does not help that the hunger isn't even a motivation. I am 6 days from a month and I have to say hang in there, it definitely gets better[emoji5] Sent from my SM-N920P using BariatricPal mobile app

    what was your miserable phase?

Congrats on your loss so far! That's a great, steady rate. I look forward to my turn. Currently 3 weeks post op and so far lost 12 on preop liquid diet and 18 postop. I am running a bit slow but then I am only now starting to get all my protein in. Water is the hardest to drink I can't understand it! Slowly adjusting... what was your miserable phase?

Hi Coco, How soon postop were you allowed soft foods? My surgeon seems to be content with 2 weeks per stage. Took me a month just to clear liquids. Am finally in pureeds and that is another two weeks. Just want to chew on something already! lol. Sent from my SM-N920P using BariatricPal mobile app

Where Do You Wear Your Patch Vitamins?

agreed with Crowmilk. I tried thigh or hip and they roll right off when I go to sleep. The shoulders are the only place I have found they stay stuck.

    Any sleevers in college?

Hi Jesse, I am a junior at University and was sleeved the 11th. Probably should've waited till finals were over[emoji28] as I am totally procrastinating being just a week out from surgery. Still, life goes on and so does the semester. Planning on hanging out at the library for the next 2 weeks to prevent it. Struggling with protein and water is finally going down better. Think I will be okay. Already down 16 lbs preop included. Haven't seen the 200s in forever so I am excited for this journey. The timing was not ideal but like school work we suck it up and carry on. Hope your doing just as great! Aloha[emoji16]

    100 lb milestone

Congratulations on your success! You look gorgeous!
  24. You're welcome and I totally agree on how others are able to eat this early. It's a chore just getting liquids in! Lol. I have found using those tiny plastic 2oz cups to pour my water every 15 minutes helps. Hope you feel better soon[emoji5]

    Insurance packet to be submitted

Excited for you Joann! Hang in there and give it a full 5 business days. It usually takes insurance companies up to 2 weeks but it depends. I gave mine 5 business days before I started the phone calls , lol. Turns out they had already approved it but my letter was taking its time in the mail. Anyway, I will pray for your turn girl. You are on the home stretch! Blessings and Aloha coming your way. Thanks for the encouragement the other day. Now 3 days post op and feeling better and better. Take care. Flo[emoji1]
