Does anyone else think it's really weird how the WLS industry and doctors don't have an agreed upon recovery plans for patients? I've read on here that some people can eat soft foods one week out and others are on liquids for three weeks post op. I know medical care is like this for a variety of different surgeries but it seems weird that the plans vary so much. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Bridesmaids Dress

Yeah you might just want to order one size smaller than what you are now and then get it tailored. You can always get it smaller but not bigger. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I am a couple days past two weeks post op and still in the liquid phase. Every time I drink a Protein shake I get a stomach ache. I am not drinking too much. Is my stomach just not tolerating anything or is something wrong? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Yeah I'm just questioning it because the different is so vast. To me it's like one doctor telling someone to walk right away after knee surgery vs. the doctor telling them to lay in bed for three weeks. The recovery methods are completely different. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm on stage 1 right now after my December 16th sleeve surgery. My mom was nice enough not to make a dinner I like this year for Christmas but let me tell you, I'm so sad about it. I know this is part of the process and only temporary but I want all the Christmas goodies I'm used to. I'm trying to remember why I did this in the first place and that has got me through most of the season. Later there's a Christmas party I'm going to where everyone will be drinking and eating and I know I'll be so sad. I wish food didn't have this kind of hold on me. I just started my pre-op diet today. I knew I would get migraines during this diet because I'm addicted to caffeine and I wasn't going to drink it. However, I feel generally weak and a little "out of it." It's an unaware feeling, kinda drowsy. Any way to fix this? Anyone else experience this? I drank all my Protein for today. I just finished day 4 of my two week pre op diet and I've been reading a lot of posts on here to motivate myself to stick with it. The most unimaginable thing I keep reading is that people actually aren't hungry after the sleeve. Did anyone feel this way? What did you do to keep yourself from not going crazy? I would eat just about anything at this point and I'm super picky. This diet is taking a toll. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thanks everyone. I am reshaping how I look at food but I think it was an extra hard challenge being on the liquid diet. I just can't wait to chew something again. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

You're welcome. A lot of people are deficient on Vitamins and the doctor usually just tells you to take them so you're not alone Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Out of Breath 4 days post op
sill21 replied to FattyGirl14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had this a week out for about 3 days. I called my doctor and they told me to take half the pain medicine. I did and it helped. Now a couple days later it's gone. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I'm one week post op and I cannot finish one Protein shake. I try to do the 4 oz at a time and can't even really do that. Plus if I do that for one meal I want a different liquid for the next. I know I'm not getting my protein goal in. How long does this last? Did anyone else experience this? I'm worried about my hair falling out. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How long does this horrible nausea last?

Did anyone have an extremely dry mouth around 6 days out post-op? I've been getting my fluids in but all of the sudden starting today my mouth is dry even after drinking Water. I think it might be from the medications but even if it was, why did it just start today? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My father suggested Gatorade and it actually worked. It got rid of the dry mouth for hours! Idk if it will stick but it definitely was a short term solution. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I wonder if the answer from your doctor would have been different if you drank carbonated drinks instead of coffee. I'm curious. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
