I only told my hubby and best friend. 1 week before surgery I told my grandma. Then after surgery I told the rest of my family. As far as work goes, since the surgeon discovered polyps (not cancer thank goodness), that's what I used as the excuss for surgery. The sleeve removed that portion of the stomach where the polyps were. Thankfully that was the end of discussion.

I'm fairly new on this site (sleeved in Nov) and read almost everything. I don't think snarky is the proper description for any of you in my opinion. Some people look for validation for going off plan because that's what they were used to prior to wls. But when someone else says not to go off plan, maybe they don't realize it called tough love...so to speak.

I gave my surgeon's contact information on the first visit for my 6 mo med visits with my PCP. I also worked with the NUT at her office and that NUT worked with the surgeon's NUT. That only happened because I told them I did not want anything to screw this up for me and asked that they work with the surgeon's office directly. They were very supportive and were happy to do anything they can to help get ins approval.

I was completely cleared at my 4 wk follow up for all workouts. He did say I my get tired quickly and not to push myself. If I feel pain, stop the activity for the day and call his office to discuss because he may want to see me.

I had nausea in the hospital and wish someone told me about peppermint tea or just smelling peppermint essential oil. When I got home I still felt the nausea all the time but once I found out about this I was much better. I actually bought a nausea blend that was sold at the hospital store about 2 weeks after post op. Good luck. Hope it gets better for you. -
I found some old pants yesterday that I altered years ago to a smaller size and now they fit again!

My sugeon requires 4 weeks off no matter what job you have. At the 4 week check up he determines if more time is needed or if the patient feels they need more time. I have a desk job and asked for an additional week for 5 weeks total but I feel I should have waited longer.

I will be 6 weeks post op this week and so far I have limited my carbs to resemble the Paleo way of eating (maybe closer to Keto at this point). Carbs are what got me in trouble to begin with and I have no plans of eating that way again. Sweet potato and apple sauce (organic, nothing added) are just a few things I allow myself to eat.

Unjury has 21g of protein and 0 carbs per scoop. It's not the 25 you mentioned but very close. -
How do I manage to get enough protein daily!?

Buy unflavored protein powder and add to anything you eat or drink. -

I was sleeved 11/9 and had a similar issue right befor Thanksgiving. I called my NUT and she recommended I use the unflavored protein powder so I can mix it with anything (Crystal Light, etc) and not be tied to a specific flavor. It's called Unjury. Good luck. Hope you find a balance soon. -

I was sleeved 11/7. Day of surgery I was at 289. I don't have a scale at home to see where I am now but I have my follow up this week and I'm nervous to see what progress I've made. The only trouble I've had so far was being nauseous and vomiting and feeling hungry about every 2 hours or so. I spoke with my NUT about it and she recommened full liquids to help with nausea, then incorporate pureed foods 1 at a time to find the trigger. So far it's hard boiled eggs, milk (which I already knew since I'm lactose intolerant), Protein shakes and the massive amounts of Vitamins. I had to switch to a different Protein powder (Injury - unflavored) in order to get my protein in and mix it with my fluids (since there's no flavor). Vitamins are being reintroduced tomorrow. And I have tried to avoid anything new so I don't feel sick again. I do feel a difference in my clothes. They are a little loose and my husband says he sees and feels a difference when we hug.

I was sleeved on 11/9 and felt the same way. Always nauseous after every Protein shake/powder I put in my mouth. My NUT suggested the flavorless Protein powder called Injury. It can be mixed in anything (including the foods I puree) and I love it! I still have nausea from some foods (mostly dairy) but it's not as bad anymore.
