KPNW Sunnyside RNY Process

Wow Lori! Sorry to hear that, you've worked so hard to get to this point. Did the doctor think you would have any success with weight loss based on what he was able to repair? -

KPNW Sunnyside RNY Process
gaely replied to wsheldon77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad to hear your liquid diet is going well(for the most part!) Such a smart idea to take this time from work to focus and prepare for surgery, I plan to do the same! I had my follow up with the Nutritionist and Social Worker on 8/30. They were pleased with my progress, I've lost 12lbs since 7/05(my first appt with them) so they sent me off for labs! They will be reviewing my results on 9/20. Had the ultrasound of my gallbladder today. Feels like things are finally moving along:) Lori, do you recall when you were at this step, how much longer until you think I'll have a surgery date? If you're up for it, I'd be happy to exchange phone numbers so we can text/chat about our progress if it would be easier? Wishing you all the best in the days leading up to your surgery! Gael -
I just had my first appt with the nutritionist and social worker...I think the only way to skip the follow up, or shorten the time between the appts, would be to show them that you have lost weight and are continuing to lose. I have been keeping a good journal, have my cpap, exercising, have all my annual exams done and I still have to go in for the follow up. I scheduled the follow up the same day as my appt and it was 7 weeks out! A bit frustrating, but I'm going to take this time to really focus on me and show them I am ready...which is what they want to see. Hope this helps! Gael

KPNW Sunnyside RNY Process
gaely replied to wsheldon77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lori, that's so exciting! We met with nutritionist and social worker today. We've got our follow up already scheduled for August 30th....I feel like the time between appointments is so long. I'm nervous we won't ever get a surgery date! How soon did you meet with the surgeon after your follow up with the Nut/Social worker? Hoping to get this surgery before my deductible rolls over in November! -
KPNW Sunnyside RNY Process
gaely replied to wsheldon77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wsheldon77, I started the process in November. It feels like each step takes forever but just stick with it and try your best to track and lose along the way. I am on Step 3, meeting with the Nutritionist and Social Worker on July 5th. I'm not sure what the time frame will look like between this appt and my next, but I will keep you posted as I go through each step! Good luck on your journey and let's keep in touch along the way! Gael -
Lori, my husband and I started the process in November...happy to hear it's taking you around 9mos, gives us hope!! We have our appt with the Nut/Social worker on July 5th...I feel like that's when things really start rolling along. How much weight have you lost, or do they want you to lose, prior to surgery? Thanks, Gael

I'm also signed up for the webinar classes that start January 23rd for the Clackamas Sunnyside Kaiser NW region. I'm hoping the process doesn't take too long to get into surgery....I'm so ready to change my life!

Getting pregnant after 100 pound loss with PCOS
gaely replied to jtickle's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
This thread is very informative for me, thank you to everyone who has posted! I was just approved for gastric bypass so I am just starting all of the pre-op tests, classes, meeting, etc. I am 32, have PCOS, been married for 7 years and never used birth control. I am hoping WLS is the tool I need to finally accomplish my dream of becoming a mother Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I was just accepted in my Kaiser's bariatric program and it sounds similar to yours...I am just signing up for the Weight Management classes and getting my sleep study scheduled. When did you start the process? I'm trying to figure out how long all these steps will take before I get to the actual surgery! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thanks for the info! I will look into that support group! Do you know what time they meet? My work schedule is very strict so I'm worried about being able to make it to all the appointments and meetings... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi there! I just got referred by my PCP(Salem Kaiser) today to get a consult with the Kaiser NW Bariatric Program. Can anyone who has, or currently is, going through the process share their experience? Any complications? Timeframe? Dr review? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
