  1. I'm a barber and am on my feet all day at work, so my doctor suggested at LEAST 2 weeks, though he'd prefer I take 4 weeks. I split the difference and decided to take 3 weeks. His only concern was that, since I'm on my feet all day and hairstylists don't get much time for lunch anyway, I would have my liquid and protein intake in check before returning so I don't get too fatigued and pass out behind the chair. Being a teacher, I'm sure the last thing you need is to be even more exhausted at work! I probably could've gone back after 2 weeks, but took 3 weeks off just in case. I originally put in for a 4 week medical leave (unpaid) and since I saved enough money to cover expenses for the month, I thought I'd use an extra week to just enjoy some time to myself at home getting acclimated to my new routine.
  2. I argued that point with someone earlier! But I believe that if someone was not receiving healthcare for something specifically related to obesity in the past, it will not be considered a pre-existing condition. I even pushed my sister to start getting treatment for her high blood pressure; she's avoided talking to a doctor about it for years now but I feel she needs it on record that she's trying to treat her obesity so it can be considered pre-existing. I also think the coverage is going to be more inconsistent among insurance providers than it has been in the past. whatever changes are made, I believe they wouldn't take effect until early 2019, but don't quote me on that.
  3. I had surgery on 4/17 and I'm down 17 lbs since then. What has surprised me the most is that the physical hunger I felt is gone. I have to remind myself to eat actually food (albeit pureed food) instead of sipping on protein shakes all day, since my stomach isn't growling or feeling empty. Funny thing is, while I'm not hungry, I think about food ALL DAY. I never really noticed how many food commercials are on TV! It's definitely in my head though--I'm not salivating but it's like I'm mourning the times I would just go grab some fast food whenever I damn well pleased. I am so glad to hear how you other April sleevers are doing, I don't feel so alone now!

  5. Long time lurker here! I was wondering if anyone here is from CO and familiar with the Weight Loss Clinic at Denver Health. I've been in their bariatric program since June. I was told I had to fulfill the program requirements before they'll consider the surgery and even though I'm meeting them all, I'm getting pretty frustrated with the care, from my nutritionist in particular. Where my Colorado peeps at!? Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
  6. Hey there! Does RMC have their own weight loss program you need to be in to beq approved for surgery, or did you just go there with a referral? Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
