WCM I saw Jessica Seinfeld on OPRAH earlier this week talking about her new cookbook "Decietfully Delicious." They had a segment with a teacher talking about veggies and of course most of the kids snarl their noses to broccoli and spinach etc... These same kids wanted more of each food after they had tasted it and were told which veggie was in the food. Butternut squash in maccaroni and cheese. Broccoli in the chicken nugget batter. Jessica Seinfeld also puts fresh veggies on her kids plates. I think I might like to get the book and give it a try. You should have seen OPRAH stuffing her face with all the samples.

Check out www.thedailyplate.com You can log your food and exercise. It is pretty cool. -
Busy Liquid Tylenol burns my stomach even if I take it with food. Can you take the Tylenol EZ tabs (easy to swallow) If your not on liquids you should probably be able to take them.

Losing weight, No PBing, Slime, or Stuck
SugarBean replied to LundyLane's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
LundyLane, I have been blessed as well to lose weight with no problems. I have had only one fill. I felt great at the doctors office a few weeks back. I felt wonderful restriction. Two weeks later, I have started to slow down on the weight loss and am starting to be a little more hungry. My appointment is not until the end of August. UGGh. I plan on waiting it out a few more weeks. I don't want the band to do all of the work. But, if I start gaining, or get to hungry I will call for a fill. Good Luck and enjoy your journey. -
Kerri sorry to hear about your Nana. I will keep your family in our prayers. Tess My DH is a diaylisis nurse in WV. We were in the Gatlinburg area in June, we love it there.

Cutie - Welcome. I will finish week one in the morning. Whosya - That is so cool to meet and train with the USA Triathalon coach. I am a major Olympic fan. I will watch just about any sport summer or winter. Hey, I have added the "8 minute arms" workout from www.youtube.com The video is from the early 90's. (I am so glad we do not dress like that any more) I am a little nervous about having big flabby arms when I get to goal.

Fenton - Wonder if recording everything you eat on www.thedailyplate.com is as good as actually writing it down. There is still that visual effect. :confused2:

TA DA!!! I DID IT!!! Week 1 - 2nd day workout. I am just amazed that I can do this (at least week one) I would have never thought in a million years that I would be running. Keep up the good work everyone.
-
I will do my second workout of week one tomorrow.:tongue2: My thighs feel like rubber. When I took my son to soccer conditioning this evening I walked an hour with the other moms. So, I am really feeling it tonight. I have been concerned about my arms. I have big bat wings:ohmy: I hope with some weights they won't be too bad. I prefer not to have surgery, but will if needed. I have discovered the "8 minute arm" workout on www.youtube.com The video is from the 90's, you can tell by how they dress, but I was able to do it and it works all the muscles in your arms and shoulders. :wink2: If you search youtube, you can find 8 minute workouts for abs, butt, legs, etc... Good luck to all, and to all a good night.

Good lost! Now gain whats the deal??
SugarBean replied to mzreeda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There is no way I could wait until I get to the doc's office to weigh. You are the brave one. I am trying not to weigh myself daily. Weighing frequently helps me readjust my eating and/or exercise if I have gained. -
I read your posts the other day and was so inspired, I thought that I would join you. Last night I did the first walk/run for the first week. Oh boy, I did okay to begin with, but the end was a struggle. I did it though!!!! My 11 year old son and his friend joined me last night. My son will be walking/running with me on a regular basis. :cool2: We live on a one lane country road with a few hills. It never failed, Zachary always said "run" when we were walking UP the hill. :tt2: I think however, that I will be doing each week twice. At least in the beginning. We will see. Whosya - I will be following your advice about doing the time and not worrying about speed. I am thinking about (possibly) doing a 5k that we have locally in October/November. I'll have to check my progress first. Have a great day!!!

So, what are your Protein results from the dialy plate? Are you up to par? I am not a protein fanatic, but I do like to keep a check on it every now and then with Calorie Counter, Diet Tracking, food Journal, Nutrition Facts at The Daily Plate
-
You probably need to calculate how much protien you are getting for a day or two. You will need at least 50-60 grams of Protein. You will lose some hair and muscle mass if you do not get enought protein. If you are getting enough, then do not worry about it. If you are not, add some. We want you to be healthy.

Bandster Gal, I too love my band!!!! I am down 76 pounds!!! 30 before surgery (March 24th) and 46 pounds since. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself (and my family). I have finally taken charge of my life with the help of the band. Yes, I said help from the band. I am responsible for what goes into my mouth and the band is simply a reminder for me. Best of Luck to you!!
-
Good Luck this Friday!!! The band has been great for me. I have no regrets. I tihnk everyone is a little nervous, its normal. For me recuperation was not so bad. Just get up and walk asap. I think that helps you get back on track faster.

SugarBean commented on LaneyC's blog entry in Blog 52590
Six weeks sounds more like it. You have to give your stomach time to heal. Just hang in there. -
Slim1: Getting the band has been the best thing that I have ever done for myself. I have made a commitment to myself to be healthier. I can't believe the difference in my health already. No more blood pressure medicine, more energy, more self-esteem. I can't wait to see how I feel at goal. jjsmiles: WAY TO GO!!!! What a success. Keep your mind set on your goal and you will do great.
-
Andrea, You are doing great!!! I was banded (in Virginia) on March 24th. So far, so good. I have had no problems thus far. (slime, pb, etc...) I am trying to work on my arms. These bat wings have got to go. So I am really trying to work on my arms.

Good lost! Now gain whats the deal??
SugarBean replied to mzreeda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
For me it is normal to lose weight well and then all of a sudden gain 2 or 3 a few days later it is back off. Who knows, maybe a little extra salt in the diet and I retain a little fluid or maybe it is muscle, who knows, I am just glad I re-lose it. Remember to always weigh at the same time each day. -

Don't worry, it will come off. I thought it would take me forever to lose a pound in the beginning. When you are barely drinking or eating any calories you think the pounds should melt off. Sometimes you lose quick and sometimes you lose slow. Just hang in there, the numbers will drop. -
MIKI, Congratulations on getting down to 200. That is something to celebrate!!! Happy Birthday

Banded 3/24/08 and have lost a total of 75 pounds 30 before the surgery and 45 after. Probably another 65 - 75 to go. I am on the down hill slide now!!!!
