Any other teachers being banded!?
SugarBean replied to MIGMOM's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Mig - I am a school librarian. I was banded March 24th. So, I have every stage while in school from liquid to real food. I have 30 minutes for lunch. Sometimes I took a frozen meal like SmartOnes or Lean Cusine. Sometimes I would take leftovers. If I am lucky, I can microwave my meal a few minutes before my lunch time. Try things like cheese sticks wrapped with a piece of ham or take tuna or chicken salad. I eat breakfast before I go. (I have a 40 minute ride) Around 8:30 I sneak in a yogurt, SF pudding, fruit or Protein shake (I like the ready made in a bottle sugar free Carnation Instant Breakfast) I have always liked chocolate milk and it fills me up. You'll find ways to eat - your a teacher, teachers are creative in their thinking. Good Luck to both of you. -

Help after surgery....
SugarBean replied to slimteacherin08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Slim - you should be fine. You may want someone to be on call just in case you are not up to it. But, I do not think hubby really needs to take two days off. Have everything close to you and take it easy. Remember to get up and walk each hour - it helps with gas and gets you back on your feet quicker. Good Luck!!! -
Pamela - only 67 pounds to lose - you lucky duck. I have more than twice that to lose. I have lost 80 since December (30 before surgery and 50 since) Keep it up and you will be at goal soon.

Blood tests on the low side, anyone else?
SugarBean replied to Mom2_4's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doc told me to add a B12 supplement each day. -
Georgia - I'm glad to see that you are back running. Leslie - My gracious, I bet you fall apart at the dentist office too. I think I am going to go hit the elliptical machine for a little while. I'll see how my leg feels. I have to finish up before "Nashville Star" I voting on Melissa Lawson.

You are too funny!!! Did they not pick up something in your psych evaluation - just joking:tongue_smilie:

The doc said I could run if I was up to it. I have to wear this crazy support stocking (thigh high) for a week. Then I will do my other leg next week.:glare: The procedure does not really hurt, it is more of an aggrevation than anything. BTW my sister-in-law (trialsnurse) is getting banded in the morning She is excited, but nervous (I guess we all felt that way) She has never been under anethesia before. We started this journey together but her insurance required a 6 month plan and mine did not. I am so glad it is finally her day.
-
Leslie - WTG!!! I may be repeating a week or two myself. My leg is sore and bruised from the EVLT this morning.
-
Whosya - You are too funny!!! - boot pictures!!
-
Missy - I have the thinning hair too. I think we only have to deal with this for a short few months. I figure I am losing more weight than hair so I can deal with it for a few months. I also keep my emotions in check when I think of a girl at my church who has undegone treatment for breast cancer and now the cancer has spread to her spine. She has a young family too. It make you think huh??? I to am doing the couch 2 5k (Hey Leslie) I have had trouble with my hip a month or two ago and had to have a cortisone shot. If you don't get any better soon go see a orthopedic doctor. It might be a simple fix (shot, exercise) Anyway, good luck. It looks like you are on your way to a healthier you!!!

missrach - I started my weight loss journey in December, had surgery March 24th. I lost 30 pounds before surgery and 50 since. I have had only one fill. Others have had 2 or 3 fills by now. I think everyone is different. I sort of like being a little loose. I am a rule follower, so I watch what I eat and I exercise. I will probably get a fill at the end of August because I am feeling a little hungry between meals.

Texgirl - I was having the same problems from Thursday - Sunday. The thread was shutting down and If I was lucky enough to post, I would have to copy and paste from Word to the reply box. Grrrrr.... it was frustrating. I went to the "contact" at the top right of the screen and e-mailed my "technical" problem. Alex was very helpful. I erased all the browsers cache and Cookies, and finally updated my Internet Explorer. I do not know what I did fixed it or the tech people fixed a glitch. Anyway, I am back on and happy for all the support. Fenton - Glad to see you are back. Your human, you went on vacation, and now you are back. You'll get back into the swing of things and be okay!! Tess - I had EVLT (Endo venous laser treatment) for varicose veins. It will slow me down on the couch to 5k a little. Whether I will run in the morning depends on how my leg feels. The doc said if I am up to it, go for it. I will walk if I am not able to run. We will see.

My EVLT went well this moring. Not much pain, but I do expect to bruise some. To my suprise, the doctor said that I could go ahead and run if I felt up to it. So I think I'll work on Week 4 Day 1 tomorrow. By the way, I have a pair of thigh high support hose. At least I don't have to pull the panty hose up on both legs and the stomach. I do not think I could even breath with that on my stomach. Bonnie - I ordered a pair of extended calf boots last winter, but I could not wear them because my legs were to big. I decided to go ahead and keep them since I was losing weight. The other day I was in my closet and happen to spot them. I tried them on and they were actually to big in the calfs (NSV) You never know, you might be able to wear tall boots this coming winter.

Tess- WTG you did your first run/walk interval today!!!
-
Girls I am going to have Endo Venous Laser Treatment (EVLT) on my leg tomorrow to get rid of varicose veins (It is lovely to have inherieted my mother's legs) I am doing one leg this week and one leg next week. I am afraid the doc will tell me no running  I am getting ready to start week 4. If I can't run for two weeks, should I just start over or repeat week 3? I'll see what the doc says about running in the morning.
-
Yahooo!!! It is wonderful to be on the down hill slide. Good luck girls!!!! I am hoping for good luck with skin issues myself.
-
Leslie - I am so glad your DH is going to run with you. My DH and Son are going to the track a few nights a week. We are all sort of doing our own thing, but it is encouraging that we are all there together.
-
Tess - Good luck with the couch 2 5K. I just finished week 3. Sometimes I think it gets harder as I progress, then other times I think it gets easier. I do know that I feel a great sense of accomplishment when I finish each work out.

How supportive was your husband??
SugarBean replied to LookingForMe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My husband and son have been wonderful. When I was on liquids and mushies, I never cooked a thing. They were both so supportive. They are my biggest fans. You may need to sit down with your hubby and have a good talk with him. He will need to be there for you every step of the way. Ask for his understanding. -
Mama - great hair!!! Renewed - good luck with the new running plan. Gerogia - be careful with that ankle, take it slow. You do not want to re-injure it.
-
Renewed - I have been upping the last day of the week just a little. I finished week 3 today and ran 5 minutes instead of 3 for the last interval. I sort of peek ahead to the next week and see what will be the toughest part and try to add that. It lets me know if I am ready to start a new week or if I should repeat this week.

My nutritionist has great ideas
SugarBean replied to wickedme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds great, also use a baby spoon or fork to help you eat smaller portions and to eat slower. -
puterlady - walking will help the with the gas. Take your time and heal. Jordan - So far, so good, I have never PBd. And yes, I try to eat a variety of foods. You have a great attitude, you will do fine.

Gosh, I just went to Wal-mart for a bit, now I have to catch up on all the posts. Where do I start. Adoption - We started talking to Zachary when he was about 2 about adoption. We decided that the word "adoption" needs to be a household word. Not over used, but known. We told him that he did not come from mommy's belly and that the part in my belly that carried babies was broken. (Which it was - PCOS) And that God knew that we needed a baby boy and He knew that Zachary needed a mommy and daddy. We have always been open and honest with him. Of course, he is 11 now and knows about the birds and the bees. He was neglected when he was a newborn, so much so that my cousin who was the foster parent thought he had a hearing problem. She was a smoker as well. He had a horrible case of bronchitis when he was 3 months old. The three of has us have been blessed. Most of the time we forget he is adopted. Loves bond I guess. Renewed - Drew is a cutie patootie!!!! Leslie - Thank you for sharing about your adoption. Yahoo 2 pounds. Kathy and Renewed - God has surely bless the both of you and the kiddos.
