    Women please help.

I haven't but I have heard that is normal after rapid weight loss.

Can I have bread and if not why?

Just today my NUT told me absolutely NO bread until phase 4. She said although we feel good, our stitches are still healing from the inside and bread expands in our bellies and can potentially pop a stitch.

  8. So I had my first Post-op today with the doctor and all looked good! I also had my first post-op visit with the nutritionist and wanted to share it with all of you. In preparation for being advanced to the phase II, I pulled out my list and started making pureed foods last night so that I can start today. WELL...... she said NO chicken or turkey for 3 more weeks. She said that chicken and turkey are very hard to digest and our stomachs are not ready yet. I'm allowed yogurt, baby food, cream Soups, fat free pudding, etc. I'm glad I didn't dive in last night. LOL She also said absolutely NO carbs such as Pasta, rice or bread because those expand in the stomach and can burst through a staple which takes up to 6 weeks to heal. Lastly, she said I can get creative with my shakes by adding frozen fruit to them or even decaf coffee or flavored syrups. No Peanut Butter yet. The most important thing I took out of our meeting was when she said "shakes are still a priority, only supplement with the food if you can fit it. Right now, the Protein you put in your body is key". I couldn't look forward to start eating but I realize now that we still need the protein. You read so many different things on here regarding restrictions, diets and what is allowed I just think we should all follow the advise of our specific doctor and staff. They are the ones monitoring you and are the ones that can best suggest alternatives.

    Not losing enough

Don't get frustrated. Remember that slow lost is better than fast for many reasons. For starters, you will sag less. The saggy skin comes when you loose too much weight and the body doesn't have enough Protein so it goes for the muscles. Secondly, your hair will fall out less which also comes from rapid weight loss. Don't worry, you have the tool so that you can't eat the way you used to. One day, you won't recognize the person in the mirror. Stay motivated - don't loose the faith - you'll be fine.
  12. I don't think I was at a "low", just maybe not as high? LOL I am 1 week post-op and I'm finding that my weight loss is gradual which I kinda like. I think this will minimize the amount of hair loss and loose skin that I can potentially have. I feel great and look forward to the next step every day.

    Food Cost

Yes. Like everything else - you're going to need to do some planning. For week 1 made my own Jello (it's cheaper). For week 2 which I am entering in 2 days, I took a look at the list of allowed foods that the nutritionist gave me; Then I went on pinterest and punched in for example: Broccoli, pureed foods You get lots of good ideas. Some that you can't use yet but otherwise, good ideas. OH - I also googled "list of high Protein foods" and I got this: https://authoritynutrition.com/20-delicious-high-protein-foods/ . Again, make sure they are on the list of things you can eat and if they are, look up recipes for them. Get yourself 4 oz either plastic or mason jars with a lid, something like this: https://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-19695/Jars/Canning-Jars-4-oz?pricode=WZ495&gadtype=pla&id=S-19695&gclid=CIHv2N-ul9ECFVOHswodI2ECtA&gclsrc=aw.ds so that you can freeze your food and it won't go bad. This way, you'll have food for a week. I have a Ninja blender but I'm suspecting a regular blender will be fine too, set to Puree. Best of luck and reach out if when you get your date! xoxo

    Food Cost

keep in mind whether you will be making your own meals or buying. You should get a diet plan from your nutritionist, they will outline what you will be eating week 1, weeks 2 -3, 4 and so forth. I am 1 week post-op an I can tell you that I have invested in Protein shakes, Jello and tea. For next week, I am moving on to pureed foods and so I will go to the farmers market so that I can make hi-protein meals and freeze them. It's easier to take with you. all in all remember whatever you do, you're spending less than the "old" you.

    getting my sleeve tomorrow!

I think you will find that everyone is different- including your before and after taste-buds. I loved a certain Protein shake before, now I can't stomach it. The good thing is that the liquid diet is only for a week or so, so you'll be ok. BTW I like Jay Robb whey Protein vanilla.
  18. You are NOT alone! I am 6 days post-op and I swear I'm ready to shank the hand that gives me another Protein shake! Lol the broth grosses me out and the tea goes down the the best. I find myself craving real food but I'm not sure if it's because I'm bored with what I am drinking. Either case, I'm ready for step 2! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Sleeping on Stomach

At day 5 I woke up on my belly, your body will always try to do it but the pain will prevent you. When it doesn't hurt anymore, your body will adjust. Took me 5 days however, I was using a small pillow the hospital gave me "support" my belly like I was pregnant, that was a huge help! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I'm 6 days out and I am still having this problem. 2 days ago I made the mistake of using almond milk (allowed on my plan) instead of Water for my shakes, just to get a variety. What a mistake! Gave me the worst diarreah!! Back to water but now I'm just bored with it. I go for my first post-op on Thursday, still a little diarreaH but mainly bored with the liquids! OH I'm sipping faster now too. But I made the mistake of taking a sip that was too large and it gave me BAD gas pain!!! Won't. E doing that again lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  23. I am happy to report that my surgery was yesterday and all went without event. As if yesterday afternoon I was walking around and going to the bathroom by myself. Feeling pretty good except just uncomfortable from hard bed and dry mouth. Feeling excited Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. So- body girdles are huge for post-surgery so help the skin tighten up and you don't have so much extra skin. The have ones that come down to your knees and have a cap sleeve, leaving room for your bra. These are huge in the Hispanic communities. Anyone try them?
