    Gym

I was cleared for exercise at 1 week post-op. I'm not doing a gym setting because I find it super intimidating but I am taking pilates classes for tonight and zumba for cardio.
  2. I know what you mean. I haven't gotten sick, at all. So far, my stomach is receptive to new foods also. However, I get this "you're too full" feeling if I heat certain foods and I have to stop immediately and walk it off. Some foods give me gas pain but never have I gotten "sick". I have also noticed that while I do have a capacity restriction, I sometimes feel hungry after 2-3 hours. I too worry that it will be easy for me to fall back into bad habits but I guess that is where we need to make the most effort. I was saying the other day how I think more needs to be said pre-surgery about the psychological aspect of the surgery. It wouldn't have deterred me from getting it done but it would have been nice to be completely informed so that I don't think I'm loosing my mind.
  3. The most difficult part for me was the day they took me off the iv and my happy drugs and I left the hospital. I was never in excruciating pain, but rather felt discomfort. you'll be fine - best of luck to you! xoxo

    Can't wait to go home

The day after surgery you are given a liquid to drink and they take an x-ray of your new belly to make sure you have no leaks and that they can start you on liquid diet. The stuff tastes ratched but everyone has to go through that before they clear you for liquids.

    Crying on the bathroom floor

I also had a stall for over a week at about 2 week mark. The scale was not tipping one way or the other. It is super frustrating but this morning - bam - it tipped 3lbs down. I spoke to my nutritionist who reminded me that my body needed time to catch up to the weight I lost. In the meantime, I also got my period and sorry for the TMI but went #2. I'm not having a regular bowel movement and I feel that now that I am pureed food, I should be going more. I'm only going once a week. Do you find that your body is loosing inches and not weight?

    Surgery is TODAY!

You're probably done by now but best of luck to you! Welcome to Phase II of your life xoxo

    Salad - 4 months out

This is SOOO disappointing to read! My craving has been a really good sheppard salad and I've been anticipating getting the go-ahead because this was the first thing I wanted to eat! My body is craving something green and fresh - crispy. What a bummer!

    first post-- protein question

I'm almost 4 weeks out since surgery and I still have a hard time getting my Water in. I was told to use Crystal light for the water to help it go down easier and that seems to be working well for me.

The need to eat until stuffed

If you don't mind me saying, you sound frustrated and I can totally relate. You need a good support system, someone you can call or email or text for advise. If your surgery center doesn't have a good nutritionist you can rely on, then maybe seek out another one. A good support system, I find, is crucial to this process. Also - while these forums are good and sometimes very informational, I find that they can sometimes be very critical and insensitive. Seek out a friend or two you connect with and maybe take it from there. Best of luck! xoxo

    Coffee

My plan allows for decaf tea and coffee. Thank God for that - it's been cold in NJ and I've needed warm liquids. I can also have a low-fat (or maybe even no-fat) hot chocolate. That's a good alternative also for a wicked cold day if your plan allows it. But remember, NO sugar added.

    When did your tastes change?

I'm 3 weeks out and mine changed RIGHT after surgery my taste buds changed. Everything tastes different and foreign to me, guess it is. LOL
  12. So - I remember my nutritionist said no raw vegetables but I am dying for a cucumber and tomato salad. OMG - with just a little lemon and salt. Tell me again why I can't have this?

WLS is the easy way out

YES - omg I saw that too and I nearly lost it. Granted - WLS is a tool for us but this process is in now way "easy". It takes determination, strength and valor to make the decision to go through this. It takes perseverance to not let our "brains" take over and fail at this. I have cried at times because my family is eating great tasting food in front of me and I want to throw my shake out the window but here I am. We should all write in the Good Morning America and that chic from People magazine.

A confession but not food related!

Oh sweety! You both sound like incredibly giving and unselfish people. Maybe just tell hubby that right now, your knees hurt too much. All my pains, ailments, stressors virtually went away when I had my surgery. NO lie - 2 weeks after my surgery I was able to move better - and just easily. Find comfort in knowing that VERY soon - you will be riding along your hubby in his pretty new truck and his pretty healthy wife sitting next to him. xoxo

    Suggestions on puréed foods

I also made a chicken Soup - and pureed it. A turkey chili type dish - pureed it. I'm not there yet but I already made my food and froze in mason jars. #overeager lol I have a bunch of recipes selected on pinterest, you're going to like that.

    NEED SUPPORT :(

I found that first phase to be SUPER easy at first then towards the end, Super Difficult. I promise you, as soon as your able to use a blender, the shakes get better! I promise. Hang in there - this phase doesn't last forever. I am phase 2 and at this point, I find the cravings are worse. Imagine living in a house full of guys who are foodies!? Kill me now! I swear I want to stab them with a fork when they are eating something yummy! I don't sit and watch anymore, I eat before they get home and then I go into the next room while they eat. I know this is going to be rough for you too, especially if you're going back to campus. Be strong and remember why you did it. You can do this! xoxo
  17. Ditto on the 3 week stall! Like you, my pants fit loose which is a good thing I guess but yeah, a bit frustrating. Just think, we haven't been eating, so the weight has to come off eventually, right? If not, where is it going? lol

    Stalling Already?

I'm so glad I saw this today. I've been at a stall also and am 3 weeks post-op. HOWEVER< I also just got my period today. I'm hoping it was Water weight and it will come off in a few days. I'm not eating a lot so the weight has to come off eventually! Ditto on the water intake. I am struggling to finish a 24 oz water bottle a day.

    No weight-loss

I am encountering the same problem. I lost the first 15 lbs FAST then nothing! I am starting to work out - someone told me that our bodies need time to catch up to the weight they lost. I don't know but I feel your frustration.

    Costco trip

Please don't over-stock on the Premier shakes. I got them for a recent weekend trip I did, just to have handy in case I couldn't "make a shake" in my room but I'm not a fan. Tzasiki, hummus, yogurt, cottage cheese and ricotta are all good puree stage foods.
  21. I was sleeved on 12/21 - released from the hospital 12/23 and back to work (office job) 12/27. I can honestly tell you my worst day was the day I was released from the hospital. However, that was only with discomfort and maybe some gas getting stuck half-way up. It was smooth sailing since then. I don't know how true this is but I heard that the better you follow your pre-op diet, the better your post-op goes. I was told the pain comes from the surgeons having to finagle more in there. Again, I don't know how much of that is true but I will tell you that I followed my pre-op to the Tee. Don't be scared. Do what you're told to the best of your ability and move forward. xoxo

    Bowel movements

    I'm 3 weeks post-op an I've gone 3 times. I seem to be on a once a week schedule.

    1 day post op

Yayyy - good for you! The worse part is over.

    Regrets after surgery?

I think I can relate but for different reasons. I am 3 weeks post-op tomorrow and lost 17 lbs. which I'm not sure what to make of. I know of other people who lost a lot more but they also had a lot more to loose. My issue? I'm HUNGRY! I've been really good about not letting my brain hunger take over but it's so hard. I have had weak moments and eaten a few crackers here and there Are my expectations unrealistic about not being hungry?

    Baked Ricotta recipe

I've been looking for something like this! I'm still on phase 2 and need something warm for my belly. So damn cold here. Thank you!
