    Pissed Off and Rebelling

No way i would have lasted 6 months.. Although my appointments were spaced out. Add the 10lbs weightloss requirement, and it ended up being about 4.5 months. Hang in there. I can see how the period is beneficial to many people. I was highly informed so the days seemed to drag..
  2. I use weighing scales at home. I don't use measuring cups. 3oz of meat/fish and another 2-3oz of soup. Lunch is usually packaged (and weighed) from home, or 2oz of tuna

    Contempt

Well, I have friends that don't know I had surgery, and sort of show some contempt anytime they're eating sizeable food portions but I'm having just 2oz of fish and 2 spoons of rice. Someone once said I'm acting as if I'm the first person to diet.. I don't really care. I can now shop at regular stores and I'm still losing.. You just have to ignore them and keep doing what you're doing.
  4. Let me not commit the same 'crime' as your doc, but the 'one size fits all' is usually between 1000 -1200 cals.
  5. I don't know why Briatric pal posted my response 1 million times though
  6. My BCBS didn't require anything more than BMI > 40 or 35-40 with co morbidity. Your Endocrinologist's diet should count as a supervised diet. I was only asked if I had attempted dieting before.. (my surgeon also had me lose a minimum of 10lbs before meeting with me to discuss surgery)
  7. He's lowering your expectations by giving you the expected average weightloss. However, not everyone falls in the average zone. That being said, I think 700-800 calories is too low for that amount of activity..

  11. Yep. It's probably BS. Go with what you're most comfortable with. It's less about the surgery and more about how we use the surgery to achieve our goals anyway..
  12. If the post op instructions state so, it's better to follow instructions. Polish may interfere with pulse oximetry, especially brown or red nailpolish.

    Psych Eval

It's just to rule out depression and eating disorders. I did some psychiatry classes in school so I pretty much knew what to say and how to say it..
  14. I prefer to look at things from both sides. Is there something in your nutrition charts that makes your doctor assume your BMI won't go below 40? Is he basing his decision on your nutritional history or is he just trying to sell you a procedure? I was asked why I didn't want a bypass, as it guarantees the best weightloss. I told them all I wanted was a reset. Something to get me back to where I can actively take control/charge of my nutritional life. There are no fixed rules. Saying you won't go less than 40 is merely an assessment. Tell him what you want to do and psyche yourself up to follow through with your plans.. All the best..

Recovery time for intense workouts & Sex

I agree with Big Viffer about muscle loss though. I lost some muscle mass as the weight started coming off..
  16. Walking is exercise though..
  17. Well the suggestion to have bariatric surgery wasn't originally mine in the first place. So the friend who suggested it knew about it. I told 4 other friends (we've been buddies for over 17 years). 'Sort of' told my younger sibbling, and that's about it. My family won't understand. Surgery is culturally a 'big deal'..
  18. Congrats on the weight loss. Hope you're still doing some exercise at home and boosting your protein intake, to ensure you're not losing muscle..
  19. Congrats!! That's really awesome. I doubt I'll get to that level.. but let's see how it goes..
  20. It is probably water.. I doubt you're eating enough to re-gain that amount as fat.. Against typical advice here, I weigh myself everyday.. most times just to amuse myself.. I fluctuate between 3-4 lbs every 2 days. I only assess myself with my weekend weight.
  21. I had nausea after eating for 2 days. Had trouble eating anything too.. it disappeared as quickly as it came. I am 3 months post-op

    Giving blood???

Technically they don't want people who just had surgery to donate blood but if they didn't ask about that, no problem. No more donations for a while though.. at least till your 3 and 6 months post op blood test results are in
  23. I was hypertensive before surgery. I was told to discontinue my hypertension medications 2 days before surgery. They didn't want the medication interacting with their peri/intra-op medications..

    Throw out the Scale

How are you dealing with the 'cat calls' and the attention... [emoji3][emoji3]
  25. I can't use trackers anyway. I eat mainly West-African food with unverified calorie estimations. I have to do it the old fashioned way: portion control
