Surgery is Tuesday 12/27 and I am a bit of a wreck
Middus replied to sunsetterdottie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well, as with reviews, the happiest people usually forget to post because they're are busy having fun. The dissatisfied customers on the other hand, fell the strong urge to voice their greviances when presented with platforms to do so. Gastric sleeve is a major surgery. A few people go in with the mindset that it is a tonsillectomy. Your body and mind will need time to adjust to the massive changes. By the time you realise it was worth it, you may also be too busy having fun.. ☺ All the best with your surgery Sent from my SM-N900P using the BariatricPal App -
Is there a such thing of a half bypass?
Middus replied to KaylaWls1216's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, the sleeve originated as part of the duodenal switch procedure (which has a bypass component), so she probably had a sleeve gastrectomy. Sent from my SM-N900P using the BariatricPal App -
HOW MUCH DID YOU LOSE BEFORE GETTING APPROVED?
Middus replied to pleezeSleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on your Surgeon's requirements and your Nutritionist's recommendations. My surgeon required 'some' weight loss.. Nutritionist said 10 lbs (cos she thought I'd gained weight since my initial consultation, whereas it was terrible Water retention after switching HBP medication) All the best! -
To be honest I never really strictly adhered to my Pre-Op. Had 2 proper meals the day after thanksgiving, and 3 days before surgery (Dec 5). I already modified my eating habits so I had lost close to 40lbs in the 3 months leading to my surgery. I also new my liver was within normal bounds (perks of having a radiologist as a friend) so I wasn't too bothered. I wouldn't recommend cheating though.. I was already on a self administered '2 Meal Replacement diet' for several weeks.

Sometimes, hiccups are just hiccups, and there's nothing more to them. Sent from my SM-N900P using the BariatricPal App

I won a Flex at the office raffle back in July and started wearing it.. Then I got the: 'Lose 10 lbs in a month Challenge' from my surgeon. Started using it to track my activity, constantly trying to beat my previous day's/weeks averages. Combined with healthy eating, I ended up losing 17lbs in 5 weeks.. and 38 in total before Surgery. I haven't tried any other activity tracker, but as a process measure, a Fitbit is great.

Serious life question about hiccups.
Middus replied to cassandramarie93's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had them immediately I started Stage 1. Contributed to my staying an extra day at the hospital. They disappeared on the morning of the 3rd day post-op. I was told they would go away and they did. -
Just got sleeved 12/14/16. Discovered sleep apnea!
Middus replied to tonytiger87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have always snored but I've always felt I never had sleep apnoea. I don't remember ever having any of the symptoms. After I got sleeved (December 5), a machine at the PACU kept beeping anytime I fell asleep, and they thought I had sleep apnoea. I was put on CPAP, but the machine still beeped when I tried dozing off (which was a task as the machine tried its very best to force all the air in the grand canyon up my nose) . They took off the CPAP and concluded that perhaps I had residual respiratory depression from the general anaesthesia which my post op morphine doses were worsening. Got discharged to the ward after closely monitoring for 2 hrs. -
I'm allowed to have cream of; mushroom, chicken, and potato. Recently started tasting disgusting I just basically take protein shakes and yoghurt now. 8 days post-op. Can't wait to hit the gym..
