    Body weight scale recommendations

I hate my Fitbit Aria... I never get consistent weights even after "recalibrating" it like they suggest if this happens... this morning I got 8 different weights that were up to a 6lb difference... so frustrating especially since it wasn't a cheap scale.
  2. I'm going in 4 weeks... I'm going through A Slimmer Me with Dr. Montano. There are many many great doctors there so if you do your research and reward reviews here you'll be fine! I'm excited to go in a couple of weeks.

    Unjury protein

I ordered the chicken soup for post op and got it yesterday... it taste like a broth but not as salty so I think I will like it if I can get it to mix well. I didn't get the other flavors because I'm thinking I'm going to go with another brand once I'm off clear liquids post op

    Any Alaska Sleevers

I'm in Alaska but I'm in Anchorage.
  5. Hey guys I'm about 5 weeks out from surgery and I'm trying to get things prepared. My flight is just over 6 hours (3 hours from San Diego to Seattle with a 40 min layover and then a 2 1/2 flight from Seattle to Alaska). Do I need to arrange a wheelchair to get me around the airport? I don't want one if I don't need it and want to walk as much as I can but I don't know what to expect after surgery (I'll be flying home post op day 3). Also should I bring single serve protein packets to sip on the flights? If so how many would you recommend bringing? I should probably get some protein in that 6 hours but I don't know if I should just bring one packet for the entire flight and that will be enough to last since I won't be taking in much or bring more than one. Any other suggestions or tips? I originally had a window seat but from reading it sounds like an aisle seat is best so I changed my seats, is this best?
  6. All great points!!! Thanks everyone. While I don't know how my recovery will be I have had 2 c sections and the second one was a breeze and I was up walking within 6 hours so if it's anything like that or similar I'll be ok. The point about boarding too early is a good one especially since I'll be in the aisle seat and getting up and down for the other people in my room won't be fun. I have a weekend bag that fits under the seat so luckily I don't have to worry about the overhead bin. I'll plan on not having one but won't hesitate to ask if I do need it. It won't be international (flying into San Diego and then flying back to Alaska) so I don't have to worry about customs.
  7. This is why I wondered if I need a wheelchair... I don't know how weak I will feel and I don't know about walking through the airports. Ugh so hard lol. I don't have to go through customs luckily so I'll be able to get water (I'll bring a shaker so I can just use the water fountain to fill it up) and I'll just have single serve protein to mix. I plan to take it on the plan and sip during the flight, sip during my lay over, and have another packet for the second flight if I need it. Maybe I'll request it and then if I don't need it not use it.
  8. Oooooo thank for the info on the shakes that's good to know. I'm only taking a carry on because I don't want to deal with bags and I want to bring as little as possible. I will not request a wheelchair I do want to walk as much as possible.

    Mexico aslimmerme

It isn't... it's $150 for the meds in the basic package.

    Mexico aslimmerme

A deposit prior to hold your date (10%) that you pay by wire transfer or depositing it to their banks (Wells Fargo)... you can wire transfer the balance 1 week before surgery or take cash or cashiers check with you and pay when you get there. I'm not comfortable taking that much cash so I'll be doing a wire transfer or cashiers check.

    Mexico aslimmerme

It's been amazing so far. Anette and Lizette have been super responsive and helpful. I'm pre-op scheduled for May 18th (but fly in the day before to do pre-op testing). I'd love a partner!

    Mexico aslimmerme

LTVSG has an amazing doctor I am just not comfortable with the coordinator and hearing that he may be doing some shady things worried me so I decided not to go with them even though Dr. M is amazing. I went with the basic package. After comparing the two the difference that I saw was a nutrition consult, a psychology consult, and spirometry... I didn't feel I needed those things. I can get set up with both a psychologist and nutritionist here so I went with the basic package. Anette the coordinator is really great and will talk to you about which package is best if you need. I found a girl on instagram that just recently went through ASlimmerme and she is beyond happy with her experience so I am even more comfortable with my choice and can't wait.

    May??

May 18th here in Mexico with Dr. Montano
  17. Prior to last year I would have never even thought about weight loss surgery let alone abroad. My best friend told me about her dad's journey last year and I started my research... then she also went and that's when I was like ok WLS isn't the stereotypes that I thought before (I was the one who thought it was the "easy way out") I said ok. I looked into my insurance and what do you know they cover weight loss surgery... but all the hoops, not having an in network provider here (I'm in Alaska so driving to another state isn't an option), and most likely paying more out of pocket than going to Mexico lead me to go with Mexico instead. I'm going in May and I am completely relaxed and ready because of all the stories, videos, and research I've done, watched and read. I already know I'll be getting plastics out of the country as well when I am that point in my journey. When I tell people I'm going to Mexico they have the same reaction I would have had before so I'm just trying to do a lot of education and I can't wait to share my experience after surgery in order to help even just one person decide it's not anything like what many misconceive surgery abroad to be.

    Best exercise video/program?

The good thing with Beachbody is they have a 30 day money back guarantee so if you hate the workouts you can return them. I did turbo fire for a few months and lost a good amount of weight but gained it back when I stopped watching my calorie intake. It really is basic to advanced and many of the programs have modifiers. Jillian is definitely more intense her yoga has me almost in tears lol but I enjoyed how I felt after.

Another place that has short inseam in Alloy. I love their clothes especially during clearance sales when you can get clothes at great prices

    Best exercise video/program?

I signed up for Beachbody on demand all access and it is all of their programs for $99.95 a year. I love their workouts because of the variety since I get bored easily. They also sell individual programs for various prices as well. I also like Jillian Michaels... her programs are too hard for me right now at my size but when I was smaller I did them and loved the workout I got.
  21. I'm currently pre-op but over the past few years I've noticed whenever I try on shoes with a heel my back and sciatic nerve hurt really bad. I haven't worn heels in years and of course I was close to 100lbs lighter at that time I did wear them. I am wondering if anybody else had issue with back pain in heels prior to surgery and if it reduced or went away after. It's not just skinny heels it's also booties with a heel that cause pain... which I'm guessing is because I'm so heavy (my back pain and sciatic nerve pain has increased as my weight has). I'm hoping as I lose weight I can wear heeled shoes again since I love booties and would like to add them back into my wardrobe as I lose weight.

    Healthy beverages besides water.

I absolutely love water so that's pretty much all I drink but when I need a break or something different I drink Bai or add a sugar feee drink packet (there are so many flavors but I've only tried the Hawaiian Punch ones so far) to my water to change it up.
  23. Hey all... my surgery is scheduled for May 18th and right now I have 4 jeans that fit comfortably and 1 that's a little tight but I can manage and about 10 shirts. I'm on the fence on whether I should buy a few pairs that I can fit now or just make do with what I have since surgery is less than two months away and I wouldn't be in them long after (most likely). What do you guys think should I just wait and make do with the few jeans and shirts I have or should I get a few to get by until it's time to go down a size or two or three...
  24. Thank you both... I knew I could hold out but sometimes you just need to hear an answer from other people for reassurance
