  1. I have lost almost 90 pounds and I am thrilled with the way I look, the issue is I think I am going crazy. I am yelling and angry all the time. I have no patience with people, especially my husband and daughter. I have so much rage inside of me and I never was like this before the weight lose. I was the jolly, happy person, or was I? I think I mask a lot of my feeling through food, but now that I am not eating is the real me shining through? I hope not, because I do not like the new me inside, but love the person I see on the outside. I need help and do not know if this is normal or just me? Any advice would be appreciated.
  2. congratulations, this is only the beginning just wait. I am down 100 pounds in 8 months loving life
  3. I also have to dress nice for my job, I had my bypass surgery 11/9/16 so I was fortunate, that I was able to where leggings all winter and went to Walmart or thrift shops and only paid no more than $5.00 on tops. I started at a size 22 and I am now a size 8. Before I lost all the weight I would spend a fortune on my clothes, now I go to the clearance racks only or Walmart and spend nothing and you know what? Everything looks great on me. Good luck just enjoy the ride, it is truly worth it. Now with fall coming I have no clothes, so I am going shopping and can not wait.

    Kidney stones

My surgery was 11/7/16 and have not had any issue as of yet. I have not had anything except water since surgery. As a treat to myself, I might have 36 oz. of dec. tea when on vacation. No issues.
  5. I am months out and I am still very limited as to what I can tolerate. However, being a size 8-10 is much better than a size 24 .Meals times has been a very difficult and emotional time for me I will not lie. I use to love to eat everything, now most foods taste horrible to me or I am unable to keep it down. We have to remember this is a work in progress. My entire life I have eaten when happy, sad, stressed, etc. Now I am unable to eat and have to find other ways to deal. Not easy. But loving they way I look.
  6. Not really. I love they way I look, I just wish I was able to more normal food. The doctor said my pouch is very small and I have lost the total amount of weight most people lose at the 1 year mark. I am happy, I went from a size 24 to a size 6-8 and loving life. Meals are a challenge for me, but I think of what I looked like and felt like one year ago and I was a mess.

    Shrinking without losing pounds

The same thing with me. The scale has not moved since March when I was a size 14, I am now a size 8 yet the my scale and the doctors scale says I have stayed the same. So strange. The doctor says the weight is redistributing itself.

    Can't win today

Your are not a failure. It is probably really bad gas. I had the same issue and it was coming out of both ends at the same time. Try to walk as much as you can, that is what I did. The beginning is always hard. Do not expect to be able to drink much, small sips all day. I only was able to handle chewable vitamins for about 3 months. You should start feeling better in a couple of weeks. That was my major issue, gas and not being able to go to the bathroom. Once you are able to handle more, your bowels will come around . I had my surgery 11.9.16 was a size 22 I am now a size 8. I take miralax a scoop everyday in my morning protein shake. Just think of what you will look like when a couple of months. Try to keep you chin up, this shall pass. I look at myself in the mirror and do not even recognize myself.

If anger is the way you're responding you have to figure out what thoughts you're thinking to make yourself angry and allowing you to treat people badly. It's the thoughts you're thinking that is making you angry. Change your thoughts and change your behaviour. Possibly you feel like you're missing out, possibly you feel you deserve better and it's making you resentful which is fuelling your anger. Losing weight is not synonymous with being angry. From my personal experience I have slightly less patience cause I'm not stuffing my feelings but I always ask myself what would be the most loving response. It's not always easy but worth it. 1 person likes this 1 Like this
 James Marusek 3,401 Bariatric Legend Gastric Bypass Patients 3,401 7,293 posts Location: Indiana Surgery: Gastric Bypass Surgeon: Christopher Evanson Surgery Date: 05/16/2013 Height: 5 feet 6 inches Starting Weight: 260 lbs Weight Lost: 117 lbs Current Weight: 143 lbs Goal Weight: 150 lbs BMI: 23.1 Posted Monday at 08:05 AM · Report post As you lose weight, the chemicals and hormones that were stored in your fat cells are being released into your body. These will pass through your kidneys and are expelled in your urine. But they can generate a flush of hormones during the weight loss phase. They should simmer down once you transition into maintenance. It is important to meet your daily Fluid requirements, because it take fluids to flush these hormones from your system. 1 person likes this 1 Like this
 inspyrdbyu 36 Senior Member Gastric Bypass Patients 36 94 posts Surgery: Gastric Bypass Surgery Date: 08/01/2016 Height: 5 feet 1 inches Starting Weight: 192 lbs Weight Lost: 77 lbs Current Weight: 115 lbs Goal Weight: 120 lbs BMI: 21.7 Posted Monday at 09:29 AM · Report post I am 9 mos. out from gastric bypass, and I could have written this myself. I've lost the same amount of weight and been having the same issues. It's horrible. Very good advice from blondie66. I will be putting forth the effort to change my thought patterns and see if it helps. Not an easy thing to do, but completely makes sense. Please keep us posted if you find anything else that works for you, and know that you're not alone.

I am at the 6 month mark and have lost 90 pounds but I have been stalled for 4 week. I am exercising, not eating carbs., mostly protein, cottage cheese, yogurt, protein shakes, 1oz of nuts, not much of anything else.

thank you, I am trying to walk more and I am drinking plenty of water. The issue is, I am unable to eat a variety of food. I am little by little adding in food, but I can only handle cottage cheese, protein shakes, ground turkey, yogurt. sea food, beef, chicken make me sick.
  12. I had my gastric bypass 11/9/16 I was 237 I am 5'3' and have gone from a size 22 or 3X to a size 10 in 5 months down 88 pounds. Is it easy NO. It has been a re-learning experience everyday since the surgery. I am so glad I had the surgery and only wish I did it when I was younger like you. I also was diabetic and was off all meds 2 days after surgery. My joints no longer hurt, my muscle spasms at night are gone and not bones spurs in my heels no longer are an issue. Wishing you the best.

    Fatigue

It has been 5 months since my surgery and I am still very tired. the doctor said this is normal.
  14. I went to the Bahamas 4 months after my gastric Bypass and really was not able to eat much at all. For breakfast I had yogurt. Lunch was a problem, I had a couple bites of a salad. Dinner was an issue, I would take a bite of a piece of filet and it tasted so good, I would take another 3 bites, and then had to leave to through up. I was thankful after the first 2 days that I brought me protein bars. But everyone is different. I am 5 months at this point and still can only a limited amount of different foods and very small amounts of food that my stomach will tolerate.

    5.5 month stall...

I am also 5 months and have not lost anything in 3 weeks. I see the surgeon on Tuesday, but I did email them and they told me to up my calorie intake. Issue, I really have problems eating. Shrimp, chicken, beef I take a bite and that is it. I can handle soup, yogurt, ground turkey (very small amounts) beans, but this gets old. So it will be interesting to see what advice the surgeon has for me.
  16. I am 5 months out and HATE EATING OUT and all meals period. I never thought I would say that, but it is really, really difficult for me. I am so restricted on what I can tolerate. When I go out and order I normally just pick at the food. What I use to love before the surgery I can not even tolerate now. Chicken, shrimp, beef, turkey, just do not agree with me. I find I have better luck with cheese, soup, sweet potatoes, beans.

    survive without caffeine?

I had gastric bypass surgery in Nov. 2016 and I had to a an ice tea every morning and a coke zero for lunch and dinner. Right before my surgery I was done to 1 coke a day for lunch but made sure it was decaf. I was so concerned about not being able to drink caffeinated drinks before the surgery. I am 5 month post surgery and have not had any caffeine and I am fine. I have decaf tea now and do not miss caffeine at all. You will be fine.

    Pre Op Diet While Travelling

I went on a 10 day cruise 1 week before my Gastric Bypass Surgery. Believe it or not I lost 7 pounds that week., The doctor told me if I gained 1 pound he would cancel my surgery. I ate great those 10 days, all Protein. Omelets for Breakfast, salad and chick for lunch and 2 lobster tails every night for dinner and even allowed myself desert. But I was up exercising everyday for 10 day.
