I was banded 10days ago! You can wear deo! lol, but yes no makeup, jewelry etc. Leave that at home. If you will be there over night, bring comphy jammies, slippers, chap stick, extra undies and comphy clothes to go home in. You will need for home, Liquid Tynenol, Gas X strips, lots of flavored water. Walk, keep busy and rest too! Get plenty of liquids, helps with healing and hydration. They will probably send you home with an RX for pain. Take that when needed! And good luck! No worries.. you will sleep good while u r getting banded. It was weird, when they wheeled to the surgury room, they gave me something to relax (groovy drugs) and then they lay u on the operating bed, breath in O2 and then I was out, the next thing I know I was waking up what seemed to be like a min later, to being banded! Whoo hoo! You will do fine! :rolleyes2: Take good care of yourself, follow Dr.s order and you will do great! :girl_hug:

Thats interesting about you eating bread. My Dr. says No bread, pasta and rice, gets stuck. Toast is okay, try that.. i love bread too, but its not worth the pain!?
-
Wow I feel bad for you that sucks! My port site is still sensitive too! I have to hold it when I cough or sneeze, that reduces the pain a bit. I am sorry that you aren't healing so fast. I am just one of the lucky ones. I always healed fast. When I had my c-section after with in 2 weeks I was up and doing pretty normal activities that most mom's wouldn't dare!

Its been 9 days since my surgery and I am getting better, still a lil tender around the port. I cant wait till that is healed. I lost 6pds whooo hoo. But I am tired of liquids, that is driving me nuts. I am so hungry for real food. Yea, not mental hunger, just some damn texture! lol I am not hungry after my shakes or liquids for some time. Just sick of the limitations. I will be happy when i am on soft foods and regular food. something different for a change. The other thing, is sinse i am broke and healing I am bored out of my mind! I cant even eat out of boredom! lol I cant wait till I am healed so I can have a life of somewhat?! anyway i am just venting! Oh I did get up wrong and pulled a muscle.. that hurts!!

Yea, I was just thinking about doing that. I have 2 welsh Corgis and its beautiful today, I was thinking about taking them for a walk!

Hey, For the gal that said she has to be on liquids for 4 weeks, I am sooooooooooo sorry that you do! Just 2 weeks for me! And I am almost done. I cheated and added cottage cheese to my diet. I know not much of a cheat tho. I just needed something to chew! I also added low fat ice cream. My Dr. said whatever will fit in a large straw.. anyway the just liquids weren't lasting long. I would have a shake and a lil over an 1hr later stomach yellin at me. So I knew I was ready for purreed stage. I heal fast, always have. So, I will begin pureeing my foods. Since I ate 1/2 cup of cottage cheese and 4oz of yogurt yesterday, I stayed full for 3 hours. So deff an improvement. I have lost 7 pds since the surgury. And for the lady who hasn't had the surgury yet, you will stay full off of 2oz of chicken and 2oz of whatever! They say they want you to have 1cup of food each meal, and a small snack if you are super active. It averages out 1200 cals a day. So far I been averaging out 500-1000cals a day, which is wonderful to actaully stay full off of that! I couldn't do that before surgury. They had me on a 1500cal diet a day. I cheated everyday. I cant stand going to bed hungry! I mean when I did cheat, I didnt pig out, but there was no way that I could do that. I for the first time in my life have staid on a low cal diet with no issues! I love it! :cursing:

yea no kidding! I dont dare eat! lol.. I mean I am going to add cottage cheese, yogurt and pudding, liquids aren't sticking to my bones for very long. Yesterday I had a protein shake and an hour and half later i was starving. I am suppose to have purreed foods starting Wednessday, but I will slowly start a couple days early. I am fine to move around and stuff. I am just broke and the park doesn't appeal to me unless i can bike ride, i cant walk fast yet. I just want to go shopping, out to dinner, movies stuff like that! My husband wants me to fish.. but i havent felt like it! lol As for the person eating already?? WOW... I wouldn't dare and they dont sound like very healthy choices? Are you eating alot?

But I am broad in the since that I want to go out and play oh well.. thanks anyways.. i wish i had other hobbies..

Frustrated in Tennessee
Mariposa replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
did you have the old lap band or the new one? I have heard the new one is way better on the restriction. Also, yea dont beat yourself up. try better the next day. If u have no restriction, go to Body-for-LIFE they (having nothing to do with lapband) tell there people to eat 3 meals protien and complex carbs and veggies each meal, then they say have 2-3 snacks like a protien shake or protien EAS snack bar. Do that kinda. Eat your meals, still hungry drink kelloggs protien water, after a couple of hours still hungry have a protien shake. Anyway thats all i can say. Exercise.. and dont sweat the mistakes.. it will make u eat more! -
oh ok, thats how it works! lol.. yea ditto same for my poor husband! lol.. He gives these looks like what the heck is wrong with you! lol...

I have lost 3 or 4 pds cant really tell on my stupid scale lol.. its not digital. I am on full liquids. Healing well, not so crazy for all the gas that I have. I am hungry every 3 hours, but I guess thats to be expected since I am only on liquids, really, how long can that stuff last in your belly! I get full after 10mins, which was the same before surgury. But it is weird, when I get full, on my the left side of my neck I get a dull to sometimes sharp pain in my neck, weird huh? Not shoulder, my neck?! Also, I am healing fine.. but I expected to lose more then this, (i know ), but I am still bloated and pmsing!! GRRR I bet I will drop a lot of weird after I get that stupid Ms. Flow! Anyway I feel I am doing well, moving around more healing fast, I would be happy to lose 3-4 pds a week verses what they said 1-2pds a week, blah on that! lol... Anyway anyone experienced this weird neck pain?
-
yea I have those too, I dont know if they are helpping or not? lol... i still pass gas and still bloated! It could be cuz i am pmsing.. everything in my body goes weird on me for a week out of the month!

I am a lil hungry but not like hunger? I feel full, but I know i haven't ate in 2 days. Its strange. Getting my liquids in, with no probs. Anyway I will check back in a few day! Good luck to those who are getting it!! Big LOSERS CLub!! -

My advise, walking and gas-X they come in strips.. It passes in a few days, once you get fluids in. The other thing that I did to get it moving fast, was when it was comfortable (dont do it if it hurts) I laid a few big pillows on top of each other 2-3 pillows on my bed and got on all fours, and laid slightly on them. Putting some weight on my belly and most of my weight on my arms and legs, the pressure of the pillows on my belly passed the gas along, that seemed to be stuck under my ribs, which made the sight more painful then what it should of been. The other thing, while sleeping, i would lay a pillow on my belly too, then helped as well! -

I am okay today! I drinks lots of propel, skim milk with flavor (nesquik and carnation breakfast drink for protein) Lots of pop cycles and broth. I am sick of liquids, but I dont dare put anything in me other then that. Besides following the rules  I get the should pain too, don't have much engery for anything else, other then some limited time in the pc and watching tv. My port site is the only thing that hurts. My stomach is gurgle gurgle! lol I cant wait till i am healed and I can start doing normal stuff to keep me busy, I hate sitting around doing nothing. I have lost 2pds which is nice, but I am still so bloated, I imagine once I shed all of this water and bloat I have dropped more weight. I am sure I will notice more once I am healed, which will be nice! Anyway keeping yall up to date..  -

:wink_smile:I am getting better, still sore under my left rib, finally gas is letting up. Still on clear liquids, which is fine, anything more then that, the thought of it, seems painful. I got on the scale yesterday and it was up 8pounds, boy did they at the hospital pump me up with fluids! lol No wonder I feel bloated! Got on the scale today, back to my normal weight, I don't expect to see miracles, did it out of mere curiosity than anything! Anyway doing well, taking it easy, had a lil after surgury remorse, while I was in the hopsital for a few moments I wondered if I did the right thing, I a lil annoyed with my body, mainly because I couldn't lose weight with just exercise and dieting alone and I had to take such an extreme measure in order to lose weight. But then I looked in the mirror, and got the reminder as why I had no other choice but to this! So I am okay.. I know in 6 months I wont have any regrets! But if anything thinks that this is the easy way out, they are WRONG!!! Its not, its painful, uncomfortable, challenging, sacrafise and alot of emotions wrapped in this! I wish my body could lose weight with normal diet and exercise! :wink2: -
Getting banded TOMORROW!!! Liquid diet! Blah!
Mariposa replied to Mariposa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you everyone! I had to be on one day liquid diet, I recommend Kellogg protein water, they have packets for travel! They taste good too, 5grams of protein in each serving. The liquid diet today not to bad, a lil hungry i just stayed full of as many liquids as possible (all low cal) My stomach gurgle gurgle! lol Yea i hope that I stay pretty full off of the liquids for 2 weeks, not that i honestly ever had a huge appatite, well my body sucks and likes to hold on to anything that isnt under 1000 cals! lol.. I am excited and nervous, but I am sure I will do great and finally after all my life will actaully lose all my weight and be a thin girl, instead of the big girl! To the person that is getting urs done tomorrow.. I wish u the best too!! I will be on Thursday and let everyone know how I did! thanks! :woot:  -

I scared/Excited and well Scared! Getting banded next week!
Mariposa posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ok.. I have been trying really hard to get banded, and now I have surgury scheduled for Wed 9/10/08.. i am nervous about the surgury and i know that i will be able to finally get all of my weight off... that I have struggled all my life! What I am scared about besides the surgury (thats always scary) Is when I eat normal foods, all of this food getting stuck, throwing up, pain, not being able to eat and what the heck is PBing?? Sounds scary!! I dont know if I want to eat solids! Not that I ever ate fast and inhaled my food, I try my best to eat slow and eat to mushy! But with yall talking this way about solids getting stuck.. it makes me wanna live off of protien shakes and soft foods FOREVER!! I know, chew your foods well 20-30times take 20-30mins to eat etc.. but its still scarey!! :crying: I dont know.. i think i will end up becoming a picky eater... I do have a question.. for bansters who have been banded for a long time, was able to keep the weight off, and is active.. Once you have reached your goal weight, do they loosen (take saline out) the band, to fit your activity level? I am surprisely active.. and for years maintained my weight, just couldnt seem to lose it and wasnt going to go to bed hungry every night, that is no life.. I dont know I just want to know once reaching goal weight how normal (not over eating) are you able to eat? I am curious.. it seems they always tell you what to expect the 1st.. what about yr 2,3,4,5? Curious... -
Your body will fluctuate 5 pounds every day.. between water, food etc.. i wouldnt sweat 5 pds going up and down! R u working out? If u r u may be building muscle! Dont put all ur faith in the scale.. go by your clothes, inches not just the numbers on the scale ( and this is coming from a chicka)
-
Is this your first fill? I heard it takes anywhere from 0 fills for the new band to 7 fills.. see how u feel after the last one I also was told that depends on ur activity level that you could have a small snack.. not that snacking is okay.. but if your stomach is screaming at u, common sense would think u should have a small healthy snack, maybe a lite protien shake.. just to take the edge off.. talk to ur dr.!

Food Stuck over 2 hours, worst feeling ever!!!
Mariposa replied to ImaGoofball's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
NOTE TO SELF: No ham steak or ham.. lol.. sorry.. this is my fear getting banded next week.. probably will live off of soft foods and protien shakes forever! lol -
My advise, take Vit C, get the flu shot every year, continue to take care of your health. As for your son, when he comes home, make him throw his clothes in the dirty clothes basic or laundry room, make him take a shower, with anti bac soap. Get lynsaw (however u spell) spray your home, open the windows during the fall and winter at least once a week to air out the house.. that should reduce your chances of getting sick.. and if you do get sick like that.. throwing up every hour, not keeping liquids down etc.. go to the ER ASAP!! they will help. dont push it! okay Good luck!
