I found BariatricPal online.  I am in the pre-op phase of my journey.  
I'm having a Mini Gastric Bypass (switched from Gastric Sleeve after speaking with my surgeon). 
I also suffer from GERD and he felt this was the better choice for me for that reason. 
I've considered bariatric surgery on/off for several years, but insurance was a pain and now it's not covered.  After a recent vacation to Mexico, I started to question the possibility of having surgery out of my country because it was affordable.  I began my research and after hours of searching,  I felt Dr. Illan was the best choice for me. 
I'm a wife, mother to 3 great kids (23, 21, 12yrs) and a photographer. My job is my passion. 
I've struggled the last couple of years with illness which caused weight gain and now exercise is difficult with painful joints, muscles and asthma. Due to those reasons, I feel this is my last resort to trying to live my best life and get my health back!
