Hey Don, so glad you finally got banded. I got a fill last Monday, after not getting filled for about 4 months. This one, finally seems to have helped. Still have to fight that head hunger sometimes. Went to a party Sat night and really wanted more of that good stuff, but stopped with the little bit I could eat. Felt good to do that. I am on the losing side again. Want to stay there :>)

Katie, please try to chill. I know Sept 11 sounds like a long time to wait, but the time will pass. Use this time to concentrate on chewing really well, taking small bites, etc. You want to be ready, with the right habits, before you get to a successfull fill point. It took 4 fills for me to reach that point, but I think I'm finally there. I just had a fill on 8/4 and I am feeling full almost all the time. I have had 2 or 3 times of PBing. Not a good thing, and I know it's because I swallow before I think, and chew enough. Very uncomfortable. I am finally showing a weight loss on my scale. A pound for each week, and it feels so good :mad2: My doc told me several times to "go for it" if I wanted but to realize that the barriatric groups want young healthy specimens to show off their skills, so not to be disappointed if they turned me down. I didn't go for it until a couple of women at my church scheduled surgeries, then I decided to follow one to SW Med School. They were fantastic and really care about the patient, and are committed to help them have a successfull outcome. I am 65 and have several med problems. But those are going to be resolved, now that the weight is going away. Well, I'm finally getting sleepy and have to get up fairly early, so I'm gonna run, be abundantly blessed,

MaryD I missed your surgery date. Sorry. This has been a week from the nether regions. Son in law in hosp with a nonrepairable heart (as we found out when they did the heart cath). Grandaughter in hosp with an allergic reaction to sulfa drug, then again, last night with a leaking spinal tap site. Daughter with a serious Latex allergy, reacting and having to take boocoos allergy meds to stay with son-in-law, and sometimes with gd, when I was not there. Enough said.... I had a fill on Monday. I think this one is working, but I did a very bad thing last night. We bought Chinese take out. I ate till I was full. Good deal, to start with. But then I left it on the table beside me and picked it up every hour or so and ate some more. All together I didn't eat as much as I used to. But I broke the rules. I would have been fine if I had got up and put the leftovers in the fridge, but I just kept eating them. I gotta get over doing things like that. I also had my first PB last night. I actually didn't stop, the first time when I was full. I stopped when I PB'd. Just now remembered that. Doc said I lost 5 lb in the last 6 weeks. I think there is something wrong with what his nurse recorded, last time, maybe, cause my recordings and my scale haven't moved much. Oh well, maybe I've learned my lesson and will do better this time. Hang in there Karen and MaryD. Maybe you can learn from my mistakes, too, and not have to do them yourself. DH just got up, will run,

Well, Don, I'll have to keep those sweeteners in mind. I don't really like Stevia either and now have a box I just bought of packets. I may take it to the car club meeting tomorrow to see if anyone likes it. One packet of it is 2 servings. It doesn't sweeten my mug of coffee enough and I'm afraid to use a 2nd packet, 'cause it might make it bitter It's hot back here. I need to head up front. I'll bet we break the 107 record today. That'll put the index over 110.

Good Morning, Karen, sounds like you are doing well. I haven't reached my sweet spot yet. Get another fill Tues. of next week. But I finally got off the sugar (mostly). DH brought in another load of sweet stuff from his cousin yesterday. Will take a lot of it to the church for the missionary to Mexico. He likes to take sweets to the kids. They don't get enough sweets for a little to hurt them :>) It doesn't seem to be calling my name. I fanally got brave enough to get back on the scale. Have lost 2 lbs. this go round (about 6 weeks). Only time I have a problem is when I forget to chew well before I swallow. That HURTS !!!!!!!

Oh MaryD, you only have a little over a week to do liquids. You can definitely do that. I was thinking this is June  It is exciting. And I'll get another fill a couple of days before your surg.

Oh MaryD, I feel for you, but this too shall pass. At least you have a date now. I only had to do liquids for a few days before surgery, but different doctors/centers do things differently. You can do it. We have been drinking a new product called Mon A Vie. It is a juice made from the acai berry, and I think, blueberries and grapes. It is supposed to help regulate your BS, among many other things. It seems to work for me. I think I have whipped the sugar monster, finally. Yes, I have used Stevia. I just bought a box of the powdered packets. We haven't been able to find the tabs DH uses in his tea and I thought maybe he would try it. Haven't mentioned it to him yet as he still has almost a whole bottle of tabs. Well, I can't think if there's anything I need to say or not, so I'll not.

Joann, hang in there. Sounds like you at least know the principles. I know them too. Sticking with them has, for some reason, become just very hard. It is something I'm gonna have to work thru. Sue, all artificial sweetners seem to make me sick, always have. Except Splenda. If I use too much of it, it even does. I just need to get me under control. I hope that maybe coming here and reading everyone's posts will help me get it back together. I did ok for a couple of months, then got on a sugar jag. I try to keep snacks here for the grandkids. (We have 12, and keep a lot of them....helping to raise 4, which we have 16 - 20 hrs a day....the other 9 yo was here for 2 1/2 weeks, until yesterday....the 4 next door don't come every day now, since their Mom got laid off last week.) We really can't afford to feed them fruit, much, so it's sweet or salty junk food. However, I'm about ready to say "Eat your junk elsewhere, 'cause gramma and grampa can't have it if you want us around a while." Maybe when I get the sugar monster tamed I can feed them goodies again, or maybe they will just have to stick with popsicles and peanut butter.

Sue, yes, I know where you're coming from too. The people in China, and all that. (I do love the people in China, but eating all my food won't help them :crying:) I seem to have a REAL sugar problem. If it is not around it's ok, but if it is, I seem to binge. My DH is a newly diagnosed diabetic and we are having a time finding what he can and can't eat, so we need to just get the sugar and Splenda out of the way. I have little restriction, yet, but the problem is the nut behind the plate:huh2: I just have to get me under control. Seem to have a bigger problem than ever. I think it is called rebellion, and I can't think of any reason for it, except just plain rebellion. Why do I rebell against what will help me? DH is not able to use Splenda, it runs his blood sugar up. I can't use the other sweetners, they give me a dry mouth and throat, a headache and sometimes nausea. I think I'll just have to get over it, better than running his BS up. I bought sugar/splenda free stuff yesterday to make him some deserts with, hopefully that will help us both.
