20160809_180014.jpg me before surgery. 256 pounds. 20161017_120456.jpg me at 200, last month. 20161017_120508.jpg me feeling awesome! I was able to stand up that day for almost an hour straight. Which before after about 10 minutes I had to sit down or my back would spasm and my knees but shift out of the socket. P.s. I'm 5 ft tall, was 256 and carried 80% of my weight in my abdomen, lol so there you go. You all inspire me on the daily! Sent from my SCH-S968C using the BariatricPal App Hey Amy, you look AWESOME!!!!!In a mere three months time, you have totally transformed yourself! Great job! You ROCK!!! Kaiser Permanente Surgery
OneReallyBigBird replied to hectorlopez323's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told by my Kaiser surgeon that when I have my surgery on December 14, I will be in a private room overnight, and that there will be a couch available in the room, for any ONE person to stay with me overnight as long as it's just one person. Hello everyone. I'm scheduled to have my gastric sleeve surgery on December 14. I know I'm definitely going to need some support, someone to talk to who can relate to the day to day challenges of the post-op lifestyle. If there is anyone who wants to be a mentor or buddy please let me know. I'm currently 443 lbs and I know it's a long road to reach my goal weight, but with the assistance of the sleeve and the support of understanding people, I'm sure I can do it.:-D HW:660 CW:443 GW:??? Looking for mentor or buddies...

I totally understand your nervousness, however, my surgeon said me staying overnight was simply hospital policy but not really vital to a successful outcome. Thanks for the advice concerning the shots. I can totally see myself sitting there forever, trying to work up the nerve. I will definitely do as you recommend and just administer the injections relatively quick. I'm sure I'll get over my fear...eventually! Lol. Thanks again! My surgeon told me I didn't need a pre-op diet because I had lost another 20 lbs since I saw him 4 weeks ago. I simply have to do "liquids only" the day before, and don't eat or drink after midnight the night before. I have to be at the hospital at noon, and my surgery is scheduled for 2:30 pm. I was told the surgery takes 1 hour. I have to stay overnight and go home the next day. I'm a little nervous because I was also told that I would need to take a medication for blood clots as a precaution. My nervousness comes from the fact that I will have to administer the medication via injection in my stomach twice a day, and I'm not especially keen on giving myself shots. However, because I once had a blood clot situation in the past, I know how dangerous that situation can be. I'm sure we'll both be fine, just gotta relax and take things day by day, right..? Don't look back, turn the page, and let your next chapter begin!
