2 days post op and having doubts.

Hi, On day two I was crying and wondering "what have I done to myself" I had post op problems... couldn't urinate. Needed a cath for two days. I hurt, was depressed. Then I started to heal, a week out I was pretty good, by two weeks I was fine. now at three weeks out I'm down 17 pds post op. Plus the 20 pds. pre op. I'm 37 pds down. Feel good. I decided to buy a canoe when I hit my goal. A canoe!! before this I would have sunk the sucker. So hang in there, it will get better.

Two days post op I was crying and saying.... "what have I done!!!" but it got better each day. Now 3 weeks post op I'm very happy.. I'm down 37 pds 20 pre op, 17 post op. Last night I was on the net looking into buying a canoe when I hit my goal. A canoe!!!!!!!!!! prior to the sugery I would have sunk the sucker.
  4. Hi, Had my first dinner out post op. I'm down 36 pds. 20 pre op and 16 post op. First fill in 6 days. tonight went out to dinner, had a small piece of fish. No problems eating out. This is probably 20% of what I would have eaten prior to starting this change in my life.
  5. Just to share my experience. BMI of 41, banded on 3/25, I didn't cheat at all on my two week Opti fast only diet. Lost 20 pds pre op. The Doc said it was a very easy operation only 12 mins!!!!!!! Post op I have not cheated on my food plan and am down another 15 pds. No problems, no food sticking, nothing. All in all am down 35 pds.

    Surgery In 5 Days!!

Hi, My suggestion is to write yourself a letter, tell yourself all the reasons you are doing this, sign the letter "Love" then read it when, if, the doubts hit you.........

Eating my way to the qualifying BMI

Hey, I slouched when they took my height and had LOTS of change in my pockets when they took my weight!

Unsupportive - no downright hostile PCP

My PCP said he would not take care of me any more if I got a bypass, but that the band was something he could support.
  13. Bring a pillow with you to the hospital so you will have it in the car for the ride home. Stick to your food plan, good luck.

    Menu for the pre-op diet?

Sorry, I was on two weeks of opti fast only. It was hard but had the desired effect, shrank the old liver.

    Pre Op Diet ?

One way to stay on it is to realize how lucky you are. I was on two weeks of opti fast only. It was hard. But my surgery only took 12 mins. The doc said my liver was real small.

    going back to work

Hi, I was banded on 3/25, back to work in a week, no problem.
  17. Hi, was banded 3/25 and am down 35 pds.
  18. I was sent home a few hours after surgery and had problems, I couldn't urinate. My PCDR took care of me, put in a catheter and followed me closely. The surgeon and hospital did not care.... I called them, the surgeon's office said "it sometimes happens" They never called back. No calls or checks.
  19. Hi, I had a rare complication post op... I couldn't urinate and needed a catheter for two days, that was the pits. Had no problems other than that. It took a week for me to go back to work, after the catheter was removed all was well and I got better each day. Have your diet waiting and liquid pain meds in the trailer. Also walking helped sooooo much. If you are traveling, you need to stop a lot and walk. Like every hour or so. If you spend 8 hours going down the road without stops, you might be very uncomfortable. Good luck...

    No WAY!

hi, Each person is different. I'm 2 weeks post op and down 35 pds. 20 pre op and 15 post op.
  21. Easy!!!!!!! it is not easy, but if it were, so what, do they wash their clothes on a rock in the river? or do they take the "easy" way out and use a machine. Or the "have you tried not eating so much" question, no....that's a great idea, why didn't I think of that!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I told very few people, but even some of them couldn't handle it. Their problem, not mine.
  22. Hi, I was banded on 3/25. I'm down 35 pds. 20 pds pre op (two weeks opti fast only) and 15 post op. No secrets..... for me, food diary is essential, lots of protein, lots of walking. My first fill is scheduled for 4/18. I have always done well on diets in the past, but then I always gain it back plus some for good measure.

    alcohol and weighloss

You need to stop using to loose weight. If you can't stop for any reason then you have a problem. It is a problem you can over come. But it is a problem. Do 90 meetings in 90 days and you will understand.
  25. Hi, Was banded on 3/25. Lost 20 pds, pre op. Now have lost 15pds post op. total of 35 pds down since I began. I'm hungry but doing it on will power. First fill planned for 4/19. Went from 270 to 235, goal is 190. No secrets.... Lots of protein, vitamins, no cheating, chew food, small bites
