Don't worry time will fly by and do will the pounds. Follow your provider's instructions and workout and you'll do great. Don't compare yourself to others we are all different and don't start from the same place, the higher your BMI the faster you lose initially usually. Focus on being the best you you can be and you'll never fail.

I wore the hospital gown and was in the hospital for 4 days. The nurse would help me shower in the morning and give me a new robe. I was also catheterized after surgery because the anesthesia put my bladder to sleep (not my first time experiencing this).

I recommend bringing a robe for walks. I used medical tape to make sure my gown was security closed in the back lol

The other thing I really liked was having dry mouth spray.

Good luck on your surgery!!! It will be here before you know it

If you're not going to wear the gown bring something with pockets for the halter monitor you'll be hooked up to all kinds of electrodes for a few days and you'll need a place for its brain. Also they didn't forbid me, but they wanted me drinking their high Protein ensure so I brought my own shakes for nothing. I did have a super soft airplane sized blanket and my own pillow from home (used a second way on the way home to hold over my stomach going over the bumpy New England roads).

    Hello!
I am hoping that someone can provide some advice or encouragement for me! I am 2 weeks post - op and feeling depressed and hungry - but just thinking about food makes me sick! And, to top it all off, I have not lost any weight since last Friday! Will I ever feel normal again? Does all this go away?! I want to eat food again and not feel like I am going to die!
    Please help.

I grew up with a military Dad. Believe me it was really hard to get there. The further I am from surgery the easier it is.
I have lost so much weight at this point that I don't want to back track. I find that I will obsess about things and think they are really better than what they are. So I will taste something. After 1.5 years of low carbing and eating clean and healthy, carbs and "bad" foods just don't taste that good to me. So a taste is enough to remind me I don't even want this thing, I just think I do. Buying size 10 jeans tastes a lot better than a cookie.
That being said they had Cookies at work, they looked super delicious. I took a bite, stood by the trash can, tossed the rest and went back to my office. If I had took that cookie with me back to my office, I would have sat and pinched off of it and had the whole thing.
Is that an ideal situation? Not really. Most people would say never touch the cookie at all. This works for me. A taste just turns me off, even if its good, it just isn't as good as not being morbidly obese.

It is important to get that stuff out. Get a fleet enema and maybe some exam type gloves. With the gloves, you can carefully reach in and pull it out without straining. The enema will lubricate things and make you go too.
If there is a lot of blood, or the bleeding won't stop, you'll have to be seen.
You need to be proactive making sure you have success every couple of days.
Miralax, milk if magnesia, Smooth Move tea, metamucil, other Fiber supplements, etc.
    Good luck!

You are doing great. I'm at 6 months out and I've lost a total of 128lbs. Yes, my hair is thinning but Idk if it's because of the surgery because I was a cancer patient so it could still be from that but hey, there's some beautiful wigs out here and I like to change my hairstyle a lot so I don't care about the hair. 1 thing for sure, you don't have to be bald if you don't wanna be bald this is my before and my 6 month which was 4/ of April 2017

Let me first say, I don't regret this. I got the sleeve for my health and wellbeing and I knew it was going to be hard. I just didn't realize the depth of my love for food.
I'm 10 days post op, living on cottage cheese, re fried Beans, Protein Drinks and Water (along with some other puréed food).
I had a relationship with food that is gone now. Tostino pizza rolls won't be there for my next Netflix binge. chips and dips won't comfort me after a hard day at work. I can't sneak away to Breakfast with my husband while the kids are still sleeping and I'm sad about it. I'm sad about losing food.
And I'm tired. So very tired. And emotional. I get my walking in, I go to the gym when I can and I do stretches at home but dang it. I am tired.
I know it's a process and it gets better and all that but I'm just being honest and open and transparent because that's what we do here.

I'm about 2 weeks out from surgery and am struggling to get enough calories, Protein, and liquids. The only thing that tastes good right now are sugar free popsicles. They are also the only things that don't get stuck in my throat. I've tried a lot of the Protein Shakes, premier, EAS, Muscle milk, etc. I can't even drink crystal light with out it getting stuck.

I agree! I started gaining weight when I was happy & comfortable in my relationship. We both love eating & drinking, that's it. I believe what also contributed to my weight gain was I eating the same portions as him. He's taller than me so he didn't gain as much as me, I'm really short. I'm not blaming him but I think sometimes people get fat because they're happy & comfortable. It's not always a tragic reason why we become fat.

A year ago, I started this process. I had surgery on 8/31.
The day I started at 258 pounds, on the day of surgery I weighed in at 241. I was wearing a size 20/22.
Today, I am wearing a size 12, and down to 165. Still have about 30 more pounds to go, but so very happy with my decision and would do it again.

Thanks for the suggestion! I am ready to move beyond Water and chocolate Premier Protein. I'm hoping actual food Protein will settle my stomach (especially in the purée stage).

I cleaned out my freezer today. It was the most time Ive spent in the kitchen for three weeks! I totally understand passing through the kitchen and feeling that pull to grab something. Now I look at the food and think "eh".

I'm going to pick up the oikos, some fat free cheese, refried fat free Beans, fat free cottage cheese, and eggs for next week. I feel nowhere ready for the next stage, but just in case I want to have everything in the fridge!

My husband and teenager already ate my stockpile of fat free pudding and other sleeve friendly foods I bought ahead of time. It's annoying because the whole pantry and kitchen is full of their "normal" food. I guess that's another topic all together lol

I have to take anti-nausea medication just to drink one Protein Shake a day (30 grams protein). Ugh I'm so ready to begin feeling normal again!
This time away from eating has taught me the difference between head hunger and real hunger (I think anyway!) I struggled at first, but the last two days I have been free of craving my old favorites. How exhausting lol

I had this problem after dropping over 100 pounds about ten years ago. Went from 230-118. My doctor had no answers- it was a nightmare! She said something about it being broken and then having it removed, so I never went back. (She lost her medical license shortly after).
The pain went away when I gained weight. From what little research I've done, it seems to be linked to changing posture after dropping weight. This time, I will see my physical therapist before it gets out of hand like last time.
    I hope you feel better!

I missed this thread last week.
First I want to say that it is really nice to have someone actually post what they are eating. It is really helpful.
What app is this? I am guessing My Fitness Pal because the nutritional information is all wrong. The calories on the ground beef seems low, depending on how lean it is.
HOW CAN YOU EAT 6 OUNCES OF BAKED chicken? !?!!??! i can't eat 6 ounces of baked chicken at almost 2 years. I would have to eat it in 2 sittings, and if you are doing that, cool, but I could have never at 3 weeks,
I also don't understand how you can eat Quest bars that early. I had issues with them even at 3 months, although I have noticed the new formula (the change it like every 6 months) is a lot softer.
I think you are underestimating your calories, and your portions, unless you are dividing them into 2 meals are just too large.
1000-1300 calories isn't the issue, neither is your "lack of activity" as other people have said. The Quest bars give them up, that is too many carbs in a day. Give up the diet tea too. The fake sweeteners in those alone will make you stall out. Carbs also make your liver larger, so just eating a lot carbs can make you gain Water weight.
All I ever did really to lose my weight was walk. If you walk 10-20 minutes 2x a day the first 6 weeks, that is good. The point is to heal, not lose weight, and not to over exercise. Being active is enough.
    TLDR
Drop the Protein Bars, swap them for Premier or other low carb Protein Shakes
    Giive up the Ground beef
Keep your calories to 200-250 at a time 5 times a day
Limit your Protein (chicken, fish, whatever) to 3 ounces at a time,
    Keep your net carbs 0-25
    Walk every day.

Also are you using a scale to weigh your food? You are either over or under estimating it and I am not sure which. Scale, not measuring cups or spoons. Scale. Only a scale is going to be accurate, everything else is a guesstimate.

I can't believe it's been almost 9 months since this life changing event for me! It wasn't until I put these photos beside each other that I realised just how do different I look.
    HW - 140kg or 310lbs
    SW - 132.5kg or 291lbs
    CW - 84kg or 185lbs
    Surgery Date - 7 June 2016
I've dropped 10 dress sizes and lost 54kg or 120lbs and am now wearing and Australian size 12 top and bottom. I've never been a size 12 in my entire adult life
After having a pretty shit year last year, I'm so glad I did this
I can pretty much eat anything now, just obviously in much smaller quantities.

Try the oikos yogurts. They are so delicious!!! 10 G Protein each.
I have also seen the light regarding hunger. It's funny, I used to say, but I don't eat that much!! How am I fat?? I blamed my lupus meds and diabetes. Now I am remembering every time, I just casually walked past the pantry and stuffed an Oreo in my mouth. Or finished off the kids fried chicken so it wasn't wasted food. Or all the times I had "just a few bites" of the cake on the counter while I cleaned the kitchen. YES, I did eat that much!! I just did it without noticing.

My worst experience so far was the horrific pain I woke up to after surgery. The pain was terrible and not managed well with the medications I received in the hospital. I stayed for four days due to the pain and inability to drink fluids due to nausea. I was up ten pounds from the IV fluids.
My experience with pain does not seem to be typical. I do not respond to most pain relievers for some reason :/

I was sleeved 3/15, home from hospital on 3/17. Surgery went well no complications. Since friday I have felt this morning sickness type discomfort. I was on 3 different anti nausea meds in hospital, never vomited but heaved a few times. Haven't taken any prescribed zofran yet because I wanted to really feel what I really feel like post-op. If that makes sense. Anyway, the feeling is terrible any moms out there relate? I feel like I'm 12 weeks pregnant minus the fatigue. I haven't felt the urge to vomit just existing with this nauseated unwell feeling. Ive been meeting/exceeding my Water and Protein requirements. I used to be a savory craver but I can't stomach the thought of having anything except my Protein Shakes or something slightly sweet. Just like when I was pregnant. Will this get better? I'm so depressed.
