    Day 1 of Pre-Op Diet

I'm starting my pre-op diet today, too. I'm allowed to have up to 6 premier protein shakes a day and crystal light. I'm thinking that an early bedtime will help. Good luck!! [emoji2]

    Code word

My husband and I have a code word! It's "roadrunner". We've had it for over 15 years, and I can't even remember why we settled on that word. We use it to alert the other in public situations (like when buying cars, wanting to go home, awkward/shady people). He knows that if I say the code word in the hospital that I'm beyond upset about something or in terrible pain.
  4. I have been taking vit D for two years now and my levels have finally gone up-yay! At the lowest, my level was 8. I was approved before my levels went back up, and on all of the paperwork my dr has me diagnosed as having a Vitamin D deficiency. I was taking Vitamin D2 1.25 mg (50,000 unit) capsules once a week, prescribed by my doctor.

    April sleevers!?

That is so great that your finals were moved! This is my last week of class, thank goodness. I'm hoping to be feeling well enough to attend graduation on May 13th. I forgot about sf jello and pudding! Thanks for reminding me

    April sleevers!?

It seems like the last six months have flown by. I remember thinking, "April is a world away!" I've stocked my pantry with refried beans, unsweetened applesauce, various protein bars, PB2, Unjury chicken broth, and protein shakes. I even bough a nifty new food processor for after the surgery. It feels like I'm nesting! My surgery will be April 3rd. I'm starting to have these mini waves of panic/excitement every once in a while. Thank goodness for this forum! You all keep me sane and informed

    PreOp Diet Help!

Hello Bethany! My pre-op diet consists of 4-6 Premier Protein shakes a day for 6 days before surgery, along with Bariatric Fusion vitamins (2 in morning, 2 at night). My surgery will be April 3rd. Are you allowed a small meal during your Pre-op diet? I picked up some PB2 to mix with chocolate shakes. I'm thinking it may taste like a peanut butter cup. Good luck!

Help till I meet my doc.

I've had this happen a few times in my life. At first they looked like white scars but there was far too many all over my arms. My doctor said it was nothing, so I just kind of ignore it. I'm not sure if what you are experiencing is the same thing, so maybe ask your doctor just to be sure. Good luck

    Ursodiol....Help!

I have to stop htz, too. My doctor said it could cause dehydration (I take it for leg swelling). I will continue metoprolol and dexilant-even the morning of surgery. The doctor wants me to begin taking the Bariatric vitamins now. Good luck [emoji256]
  11. My surgery is scheduled for April 3rd. It's feeling very real this week, which is why I believe I'm having crazy and vivid dreams. I usually dream about the same old stuff, but these dreams are weird! My liquid diet starts March 29th.

    Pissed Off and Rebelling

I got through 5 1/2 months of waiting only to find out that my insurance dropped the 6 month wait period over 3 months ago! The dr office didn't know about the policy change even though many of their patients are covered by Highmark BCBS. The only reason I learned about the change was from another poster on this forum. I don't know how to feel about those months, so I'm looking forward and keeping positive. I wish you all of the best!

    Gallstones

I lost over 100lbs about ten months back around 2003. I had pain worse than childbirth in the middle of my chest and through my back. Was misdiagnosed for well over a year. One doctor told me to my face that I was making it up. The hospital said I was looking for drugs!! (I don't even drink or take aspirin). Not one of them ran a routine blood test. I finally went home to NH and with a simple test, they diagnosed me with gallstones. Turned out I had an infection and there were over 60 stones! My childhood softball coach removed my gallbladder. Good luck! I hope it works out well for you.

    Surgery date

I have the patience of a two year old. It's been a looooong 7 months and I'm ready!! My work is really slow right now, so I spend my free time cleaning the house, watching the pregnant giraffe, or reading bariatric message boards. Yesterday, I did a taste test of different bariatric vitamins (my favorite was Wild Cherry Fusion). Wednesday 3/15 is my last appointment with the surgeon for the consent signing, my pre-anesthesia appointment, and final round of pre-op blood tests. I can't wait for April!!!! My date is April 3rd.

    April sleevers!?

My date was changed from March 23rd to April 3rd, so I'm now an April sleever-to-be! I was a tiny bit sad about the date change, but it's fine. My last meeting with the surgeon / consent signing is 3/15 and my anesthesia clearance is scheduled right after across the street. I'm trying very hard to stay on track with my diet. I'm so excited about this new chapter in my life!

    Received my surgery date

March 28th is just around the corner! That is nice that you can have the option of shakes or food. My pre-op diet will be 4 Premier Protein shakes a day for a week. I did a short test run of the liquid diet last week; it wasn't so bad! My original date was March 23rd, but they called yesterday and changed my date to April 3rd because the doctor was busy that day. I wish you luck! We will be on the other side very soon

    Road trip after surgery

My surgery is scheduled for April 3rd, and I will be driving from Erie, PA to New Hampshire on May 12th for my grad school graduation. This is a trip I make quite often since I am from NH. I like avoiding 90 and staying on the toll-free route because there are more places to get out and stretch your legs. My cardiologist wants me to wear compression stockings because my legs and feet swell up like crazy when we drive to Florida. Maine is beautiful. I spent most of my free time in the summer at Wells Beach and Wells harbor. The wild roses along the shore smell like a dream

    March

Just got my date today!! March 23rd. I did not expect to feel so nervous, scared, and excited all at the same time. It's a weird, but good, feeling.
  24. I just received an approval for the sleeve today in the mail from Highmark with an anticipated date of April 1. It was a surprise because I didn't know they had submitted my paperwork! It looks like it only took Highmark bcbs a few days to approve my case. I will be attending my last weigh in on Monday 2/27. I'm praying that they give me a date! I know that they will schedule me to see the anesthesiologist and get a final blood test. Oh, and I have to have my husband come to the consent signing. I'm getting nervous!
