This does not seem like normal loss!
Monesty posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 6 weeks post-op and I've only lost 10 pounds. What am I doing wrong? I haven't had bread pasta or potatoes and I'm watching my portions yet I am not losing like anyone else on here I see. I expected a slow loss what this is starting to make me feel defeated. On top of that , even though I feel my restriction I quickly get hungry again... -

Thank you. I've had some very good suggestions since posting. In just the last couple days I have worked hard to increase my Water intake and oh boy...what a difference! I am so full..all day long and I feel better to. I think it's completely reasonable not to expect huge losses considering where I started. But with that said I am a proactive person therefore I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything to sabotage my loss. After all, that is how I got where I am now. Never again though Again thank you for taking the time to reply. I really do put a lot of thought into what people suggest! -

Can I ask what kind of food did you incorporated into your diet to up your fat intake? I have my "go tos" but would love to have more options? avocado, mayonnaise, olive oil, sometimes heavy cream or butter. I use full fat yogurt, 2% milk cottage cheese and 1% milk. Keep in mind that you started off at a weight that is close to some people's "goal weight" and that you've lost 5% of your total weight. Yes I'm keeping that in mind..however I should have mentioned that I am 4' 11". According to my Dr a healthy weight would range between 98 and 140ish. I'm should also say that I am just fine with losing slow as long as I know I'm not doing anything to sabotage my opportunity. -

I said this on the first page.I appreciate the suggestions. I will be trying them. It is completely understandable that with a lower starting weight I will lose slower. I can take constructive criticism but the comment saying "these post are getting more and more ridiculous" was totally uncalled for. -

Well breakfast is about 160 calories, protien shakes is 160, full day of Snacks are about 200, dinner is about 300. Yes I'm exercising but not as much as I should be. I'm working on that and increasing my water intake. This is why I'm concerned. I do not feel like my sleeve is working. I have had zero problems eating since my surgery. I do feel restriction, but it is short lived. Also if I increase my protien intake then I also increase my calories. I don't know what to do? -

This is good to know. I have a prescription that my Dr gave my for stomach acid but haven't been taking it because I thought I didn't have it. Maybe I'm mistaking this for hunger?? I'm going to try my Prevacid! This is good to know. I have a prescription that my Dr gave my for stomach acid but haven't been taking it because I thought I didn't have it. Hang in there. Everyone's weight lost rate is different. Are you writing everything down in a journal? Are you walking? Don't feel defeated. Maybe some modifications in what you are doing is needed to jump start the metabolism. I have heard this from one of my friends, she had the same issue. She kept at it. Changed up her exercise routine and increased her Water intake.Thank you. I'm trying to keep my head up. I posted on here I hopes to see that there is still light at the end of the tunnel. I just need to know that this slow of a loss has happened to others and they still had success. -

Thank you for all the replies. I do need to up the exercise. I've been getting on my elliptical for about 10 min a day but I can/should do more. Here is what my daily meal plan looks like. 7:30ish-Triple Zero yogurt OR steel cut oatmeal (plain, 120 calories, 3 grms of sugar) with a scoop of P2B in it (I can only eat about half of it). Some days I do two eggs instead. 9:30ish-Premier Protien shake 11:30ish- Tuna packet and apple sauce OR protien of some sort (for example 2 chix wings or some turkey bacon). 3:30ish- 1/2 a cup low fat cottage cheese OR cheese and a few pieces of turkey bacon. Sometimes I may substitute this with a few Harvest Snaps 5 or 6:00- Some sort of protien like fish, chix, or ground turkey and a veggie. Last night I had half of a stuffed green pepper (I substituted rice with cauliflower rice). I sip Water all day but I'll admit I'm only taking in about 26 oz. I'm working on it. Open to any suggestions and again..thank you! -
I realize it has been awhile since this post but this is my story... 3 weeks post and same weight as 1 week post. Hoping to hear it all came together for you?

I've been hearing that I should stay off the scale a lot for now. So, I officially just packed it up and put in down stairs. There is no doubt that getting on it at this point is doing me no favors. I know that I'm following my diet so I just need to remind myself that I'm still in the recovery stage and the results will come. Thank you for the words of encouragement!

I was sleeved on November 18th and so far it has been smooth sailing....possibly to smooth and that's my concern! I haven't had any issues with throwing up, pain, protien, or intake. During my liquid phase (which ended 2 days ago) I could easily take in 4 oz of broth or soups, then within an hour (or less) go back for 2-4 more. I can eat a whole Jell-O, yogurt, or pudding, no problem. I don't ever get a full feeling and have tested it a bit with my broths eating up to 6 oz in a setting to see what my limits are.. but still I get nothing. I don't want to be unsafe or sabotage myself so I don't want to push it any further. I don't really crave food like I did pre-op but my biggest problem was/is that I am a marathon eater. In other words portion control. So hopefully you can understand why im so concerned. I was really hoping for a nice restriction so that it would be difficult for me to overeat like I have in the past. I'm afraid it isn't working! Since starting soft foods I have had pureed bean soup ... I ate 4 oz then 30 min later had 2 more. Nothing... but I stopped anyways. I'm getting discouraged! On top of that, the scales aren't moving. So far I have followed my diet faithfully yet I have only lost 6 pounds since my surgery two weeks ago. My sw was 192 (I'm 4' 11"). I don't understand how I haven't lost more with such a reduction in my calorie intake? Please tell me there is still hope. I'm looking for encouragement! Has anyone else experienced something similar and still had success? I keep seeing how so many have done so well and how there restriction has been such a big help and tool to getting where they are.. but what if I don't have that... it is what I needed?

Me too. It's so frustrating when this is the most effort and the hardest I have ever worked at loosing. I'm giving it 110% so I need to hear it's going to work so I can keep the faith!

Thank you. I'm waiting for my Dr to release me for exercise. Hoping that will give me a boost!

It does help to see that others have overcome stalls. I understand they are to be expected but I haven't even got started so it's hard to associate it as a stall! I want it to begin! Keeping positive though and going to keep fighting!

Kmorri, thanks for the encouragement. Do you think that only losing 6 pounds at this point is unusual? Sent from my SM-G930R4 using the BariatricPal App You read my mind! Thank you Sent from my SM-G930R4 using the BariatricPal App
