looking for a back on track buddy
Rosymsp replied to cjdell4's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I managed to get back on tract because I refused to buy new clothes so I was really uncomfortable wearing summer clothes that were 20lbs too small. I made up my mind I had to do it because I worked too hard to mess it up now and besides, I couldn't breathe in those tight shorts. I planned out back to basics low carb meals for the first 2weeks and got rid of stuff I couldn't eat. Writing down what I ate helps too. I'm doing well so far, because I'm having success and it feels good I need motivation to get back to exercise though. I still haven't made it to the gym though. I wish I could motivate myself to get there. -

Precious17. I could use a buddy too. I'm 1 1/2 yr out from a RNY surgery. I had an accident at about 10 months post op and I had to stop all exercise. I wasn't eating the same because I wasn't cooking for myself. Then I got depressed and started making poor choices. So instead of continuing my weight loss I gained 20 lbs. so then I needed to loose 40 pounds to reach goal. Three weeks ago I finally got control of my food and I've done great loosing 8 pounds. I'm proud of myself but I am having problems with snacking when I'm not hungry and very little exercise. I'd love to support you and I need support around snacking and getting back to an exercise program if you'd like. -

Sorry you are going through this. I had one too and it stinks. It will get better with the meds you are taking and then you'll be good as new. Hang in there.

You are not bad. You are human and as humans we don't always do what's best for ourselves. You've been through a horrible time but maybe now you can make a plan to get back on track. I've been in a period of regain myself and I've finally gotten back on track. My motivation is my young daughter and I don't want to go around naked. My summer clothes are all tight and I refuse to buy more in a bigger size. I started writing everything down and planning my high protein low carb meals which is helping me resist my binge foods. I'm sure you can do it too. Good luck. -
I totally get it. I hit 20 pound regain and felt like a failure but I couldn't get it together to reign myself in. Well, last week something clicked and I started following what I call my carb detox diet. To quell my overwhelming carb cravings I stop all carbs except from low carb veggies. I eat as much protein as I need to curb hunger and the veggies. After a week or two I can resist carbs and then I can cut back further. If carbs are your problem this "detox" works for me. You have a lot on your plate so be gentle on yourself. Making yourself a priority is hard for a lot of us but it sounds like you have what it takes to do it. Good luck.

I feel hungry a lot. When I had the ulcer I felt what seemed like hunger most of the time. It wasn't real hunger but now that the ulcer is healed, I only feel hungry when it is appropriate.

I was also diagnosed with a bad ulcer at about 6 months out. I was following all the rules but I was drinking decaf tea a lot. I had an upper GI due to ongoing pain. That showed I have a hiatal hernia. Then I had an endoscopy where they found the ulcer. I'm getting better now but it has really set me back. I put myself on maintenance even though I want to loose 20 lbs more because I was so restricted on what I can eat. Now I'm wondering if the ulcer will ever be healed completely. I'm glad to hear your surgeon says it is fixable. That gives me hope. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
