Ketosis and dry mouth??
Fit4HisGlory replied to Fit4HisGlory's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm in the middle of packing up my house so for the past few weeks I haven't had the time or inclination to cook even if I could find the box my pots and pans are in. I just eat 3 Atkins frozen meals per day. I also started intermittent fasting. I eat during 8 hours of the day between 10am and 6pm. The other 16 hours I only drink Water. -
I LOVE the keto diet I'm on bc the weight is melting off the fastest it has been since surgery on 12/5. This past week I lost 12lbs! I'm at 73 1/2lbs down total and I'm never hungry. It's amazing! The only annoying thing is the constant thirst and dry mouth. Plus side is my water intake has increased from an already very high intake. Down side, dry mouth and peeing all day. Does anyone else following this way of eating experience these side effects from being in Ketosis?

You look fantastic! Well done! -
A lot of us do. Are you taking a PPI like Pepcid, etc.? If not, and if the reflux you're having is a regular thing, I'd talk to your doctor about starting one. Protonix is a great one (prescription only) and is cheaper than buying otc ppis. If your reflux is only occasional, then I suggest an as needed antacid like Tums or Rolaids.

ARE YOU FEELING HUNGRY RNY vs VSG
Fit4HisGlory replied to kell911's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my VSG on 12/5/16. I've lost 50# since then but I still get hungry. Both surgeries are just tools to help you say no to unhealthy foods or unhealthy quantities of those foods. You still have to decide every day that you don't want to be fat anymore. As far as which procedure to choose...I would go with what your doctor suggests. It's tough either way but at least there is hope to keep it off. Good luck! I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 -

Kinda personal BM question

Lol! Melted Hershey bars! That's the descriptor I've been looking for to explain how it looks and feels. I'll be glad to get to puréed food and solids so things will harden up a bit. Btw, I've never talked about my poop before this surgery. Pride goes out the window in exchange for understanding. :/ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 -

One week post op plus best chocolate protein shake
Fit4HisGlory replied to Fit4HisGlory's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you get in all your water and protein from the start? I was released from the hospital yesterday and could only drink 17 ounces of water throughout the day. I don't want to get discouraged too early, but... well, aim discouraged. Surgery was Friday. Sent from my HTC Desire 626s using the BariatricPal App I had a really hard time and got upset at first but tiny sips ALL day of the protein shake and each day I was able to handle a little more. The same with water. Literally all day little sips. Then as you can handle more you can have bigger gaps between and get to more normalcy. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App Will I ever live normally again? I just want to take bigger drinks and not struggle to drink 20 ounces of Fluid. Sent from my HTC Desire 626s using the BariatricPal App Of course you will. So will I. We just had MAJOR surgery and it takes time for our body to heal. You'll be getting in all of your water very soon. Our normal will be a new normal, but, that's why we had this surgery in the first place. We didn't like the status quo in our lives. Hang in there. We're in this together and this is a wonderful place to come for wisdom and encouragement. I'm so glad I found it! I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 -
One week post op plus best chocolate protein shake
Fit4HisGlory posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one week post op and feeling great! Days 1 & 2 were hell but I was much better by day 3. I'm getting in all of my Water and Protein but still deal with that grumbling, clenching, rolling, hot contraction like pain from time to time. I've lost 30lbs in the past three weeks, 21 of which were pre op. I wanted to share this Protein shake recipe with you bc to me it's better than a real chocolate shake. I use Bariatric Advantage chocolate (2 scoops), 4-5 pieces of ice, 1 cup of vanilla almond milk, and one capful of DaVinci Gourmet sugar-free caramel syrup. I blend it in my magic bullet for about 30 seconds and voila!! Chocolate perfection!!! I can drink these forever and never get tired of them. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. How long before I can sleep on my side?
Fit4HisGlory replied to Country Girl La's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been sleeping on my right side since day 2 and on my left side since day three. It's probably just different for each person. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 -

I woke up from surgery with horrible pain behind my sternum...probably gas. Between gas pain and nausea with dry heaves, it was not pleasant. Walking helped some with the pain but while out walking, any smell at all made me dry heave. Once I got home to my own bed and got a decent night's sleep, I improved each day. Day three was a turn around from bad to good. Just breathe through the pain and walk. You'll do great!!! Bring a mouth spray with you to moisten your mouth just in case. Even the ice chips made me nauseous. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 Was the pain at least bearable? I'm so glad to hear you're doing well now! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App It was bearable with the Dilaudid and Toradol injections for pain. After the second day I didn't need pain meds or nausea meds.
