I hate that I had this surgery

Could it be the types of food you are eating? Just a thought. I had surgery in Mexico and part of the meds I take is Plusgel. It's like Maalox. I drink 2 spoonfuls if I feel nauseated or full. And that happens, but once I take it, what a relief. My sister had the surgery too and didn't like the way she felt after eating, always sick. But she wasn't taking her Plusgel. Once she started she was much better. God bless you and please find a support group. You need a support team...fast! Sent from my SM-J700T1 using the BariatricPal App

    Paid cash in Mexico

I chose Dr. Cabrera at Mexico Bariatric Center. He was awesome, new Hosp, cost includes to and from airport Transportation, dietician, hotel 3 nights stay and 2 days post surgery shopping excursion. Yep you go shopping downtown Tiajuana, they will help you haggle prices too! Oh also cost includes post surgery Dr. Visit at hotel! Check out their website, they sometimes run monthly specials and buddy discounts. The nurses were awesome as well. While shopping 2 day post surgery I met 3 other Americans who were post op from other hospitals. This is common. Do your research. Each doctor has different charge, mostly due to experience. If you choose Mexico Bariatric Center, you'll meet wonderful staff that have had surgery with pics to prove it. Good luck and God bless. Also their ARE webinars from dietician on you tube. Let me know if you choose this group. I would like you to say I refered you. I get bonus for this. Msg me if you do. ( not trying to be tacky) Sent from my SM-J700T1 using the BariatricPal App
  3. My sister and I went to Mexico and had surgery together. She paid $4100, I paid $5100 ( different drs., different prices). That was for hotel, and total hospital stay, supplies and surgeon. Our flights for both less than $350. Excellent service!!! So many Americans and Canadians are doing it. Didn't have to go through the hoops like you do in U.S. Sent from my SM-J700T1 using the BariatricPal App

    Confused about the pains!

Ok. My experience with pain after surgery is from the drain tube. Kind of hard to explain but was localized. Lasted til they took dtain tube out, and THAT REALLY HURT for about 5 minutes. You'll need to walk, walk, walk. This helps with healing and gassy feeling. A MUST HAVE IS: Gas X STRIPS (lay in tongue and they dissolve). Take to hospital with you. These are my initial pains while still in hospital. I did get infection in 1 incision site HOWEVER that is not as common as pains you have been reading about. Each person has different experiences. My sister and I did this together and we faired well. God bless you. Sent from my SM-J700T1 using the BariatricPal App

    Big Day Today 23/11

Yes, Gas D strips are great, just put one in tongue and it dissolves. Keep walking. For the 1st 2 weeks post op, I didn't take vitamins ECT because I was on liquids BUT once I started taking meds, I started taking apple cider vinegar pills (from GNC). This helps with reflux, Gas ext. Congratulations on this new chapter of your life!

  10. I had surgery in Mexico 10/3/16. I sent in all paperwork, medical and chose my doctor in July, he notified me 8/3 (my bday) that I too had to loose weight prior to accepting me as patient. (He didn't tell me how much to loose but told me he wouldn't consider til Oct.) I spoke to the nutrionist and started the pre op diet, which other patients were starting 2 weeks prior to surgery. It wasn't easy but I stuck to it and lost 49lbs in 2 mths. I bought a Fitbit and walked 1.5-2 miles a day at the YMCA. I started taking 100 billion cfus Probiotics. (doctor required probiotics over 50 billion cfus a day, so I went big-found at GNC) I am thankful I had to lose the weight prior because I was high risk for many complications. My liver was not in good shape, diabetes ect. This is a life changing event for me and will be for you too. You can do this!
