Martha Parker-mcneal replied to TheGirlInThePinkScarf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
im 13 years out and rarely feel hungry. I eat at regularly scheduled times so my blood sugar does not drop and I can get in the nutrients I need to stay healthy. I also take all my Vitamins and supplements to assure I get what I need to keep that blood work in the normal category each year. -

when I cant or don't want to eat I often will have a Protein shake and just sip along that way I am at least getting the protein in. also I don't like the taste but some folks do of protein waters. good luck don't let yourself get dehydrated. -
Working and Eating
Martha Parker-mcneal replied to staci.garza13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the tacos also but have them with out chips and no shells power lite cheese. I can also have a grilled chicken thigh ( remove the skin) and green beans at kfc or baked wings ( about 3) at wild wings. chipotle sells side orders of their grilled chicken. I can make great choices at restaurants but it is harder at fast food places. since I travel a lot this is where I have to eat so any other suggestions of things will be welcome. I know chic filet has baked nuggets but I wont go there because of their policy regarding gays thanks -

Working and Eating
Martha Parker-mcneal replied to staci.garza13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you did not mention what stage you are in and what is making you sick however I travel a lot and I keep tuna ( in the foil pks) in the car at all times. doesn't have to be refrigerated. also have a small cooler and have cheese sticks and my protein drink in it. I make some egg muffins and have them but would not trust them for a long time even in the cooler if you live in a warm area. in florida about two hours is all I trust them. there are the protein bars and soups or broth if you have access to a microwave. I often us the ones at 7-11 and so far no one has said not to. good luck to you -

it will soon get to be second nature. this is a whole new lifestyle and it takes some time to undo all the seditary habits and eating behaviors that got us here in the first place. believe me it is more than worth it. -

Post-op 3 weeks
Martha Parker-mcneal replied to brandyshell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think the length of time is different for everyone. it takes time for your body to adjust and you will have stalls throughout your entire journey. the goal is just not panic but revisit your plan are you eating enough protein drinking enough water exercising then just up those slightly again don't panic and do too much. it will kick in again in a week or two and you will start dropping again. no rhyme or reason it will just happen good luck to you -
Unflavored protein
Martha Parker-mcneal replied to snimmon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the unflavored powder all the time in Soups etc. mix it with a little Water and beat it to death so there are no lumps then slowly add the warm liquid to it while stirring the entire time. I usually do it in thirds wait a moment and then add more stirring the whole time. not many lumps that way. -

don't count on it. I am 13 years out and still freeze all the time. I have learned to layer and take my sweater with me at all times. movie theaters and food establishments keep it way too cold. having said that I have moved to sunny florida and only have about 5 or 6 days I have to wear shoes per winter. part of this is trying to keep it light but I do layer all the time and take the sweater with me in my car. good luck to you -

Martha Parker-mcneal replied to ondo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
definitely get that protein in. -
absolutely you had major surgery and it will take several weeks for you to regain your strength. I am not a nurse but would think it would take us a little more even since we can not take in food other than liq for awhile. best of luck it wont be long before you will have a ton more energy because the weight will be gone.

Martha Parker-mcneal replied to Coachthex32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also track everything I have a 22 oz glass and use that at least three times. I have found that my mind can make up things like I drink more than I do and eat less than I really do. ugh. -
