  3. Hi, was sleeved October 2015(13 months ago). Start weight 95kilos (209 pounds) Today I weigh 73kilos(160pounds) Started with bmi 35 To date bmi=25 Best decision I've ever made for myself. I'm the healthiest I've ever been. I feel so much better about myself! Although my weight loss is slow,I'm still determined to reach my target goal (another 15-20 kilos). I've stopped crying when I look at myself in the mirror! I'm 44 yrs old & after I had my kids I gave up on looking after myself & spirallled out of control with my diet, foods & health... This surgery has made me look at my life but more importantly, made me look at myself in a whole different way. I'm starting to like what I see in the mirror... I look at the "old" me in photos & know that I never want to be or look that way ever again!! I've reclaimed my life again. Mentally , it's made me stronger. I've worked hard the past 13 months & I will never regret having the sleeve. There have been very hard moments where I've questioned what I did, but in hind sight, I'm a happier, much healthier person & im so greatful my life's turned around. I wish you all the very best Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Greetings from Sydney, Australia

Sanaa.a keep strong, focused and positive. The first 2 months were the hardest for me. Psychologically I couldn't cope with the fact that I couldn't eat solids, but trust me when I say, it does get better. The shakes in the beginning were the worst for me. I never want to see another shake in my life!!! Just hang in there. When you start to see your shape change & your weight drop you know it's all worth it! This is a journey that we will never forget. Nice to know there's another Sydney sleever on here Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Yay....!!!! More Aussies on here! Jobey, you are looking fantastic!! Unfortunately, my weight slowed right down & I've now stopped dropping. I never get on the scales or take my measurements but my specialist does & I usually see him every 3 months( only because I've complained that many times). My measurements haven't changed in 6 months. We are now looking at having bloods done to check thyroids etc just to put my mind at ease. I'm becoming paranoid with this body image & it's driving me , the doc & my hubby crazy!!! Regardless, I'm not giving up! I've come too far now to go back to my old ways. Sleeve revision

Hi, I've had the sleeve done October 15(13 months ago). In the first 6 months I dropped 23kilos(sorry not sure in pounds). So my weight loss was slow to average. It wasn't a dramatic loss like a lot of others I know . From day 1 I changed my whole outlook on life. A more positive frame of mind, eating my Proteins, not much carbs, sugars etc. I even joined the gym & trained intensely 7 days a week. Then at 6 months my weight stalled. Did not gain, didn't lose. Nothing!!!!!!! I started calling my doctor & he reassured me it was my body turning fat to muscle. So, I kept doing what I was doing but started becoming depressed. Not even my body shape was changing. Clothes were still fitting the same. I have been in my doctors office complaining , crying & jumping up & down that many times that he has finally booked me in for a " fizzy scan ". This will take 3D images of my stomach & check for any tears or stretching. Last week, he finally admitted that even his baffled as to why I've stopped losing anymore weight. I'm not in denial, if I eat the wrong foods or cheat myself then I'm the 1st to admit it to my doctor, but, I've worked so hard to achieve the body that I've always dreamed of & wanted. If there is an issue with my stomach , he's prepared to re trim my stomach. I'm hoping this scan will put my mind at ease, either way. I don't believe my body's only capable of losing so little in 13 months. But, after scan next week I'll know for sure. What does your surgeon say? Are you able to have this scan done to check that you're ok. I wish you well & hope you get the answers your looking for Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Paranoid

It's easy for anyone to say stop being paranoid, but , you're not! I was the same! It's normal to have so many questions, doubts & emotions with having this major surgery. It's life changing, so take each day as it comes & look to the positives & enjoy your journey Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  10. What a great article.!! Makes me feel a little better knowing there are so many factors that may contribute to weight gain. I'm looking forward to my "fizz" scan next week. At least I'll finally know what the problem is with my 6 month weight stall. I have to learn to stop focusing on the negatives & get my mind in a more positive frame of mind! OzRoo, you've done well with your weight loss! Well done. So true, losing weight is hard. I'm just disheartened at the moment. The fact that I've not lost anything at all in past 6 months is mind blowing. The psychologist says that it's normal, my doc told me that initially I'll lose slot, then my body will regulate itself , I'll plateau for couple weeks then I'll start losing again. I'm greatful for losing the amount I have, considering the unsuccessful attempts at losing weight being on diets & shakes over the years. I really shouldn't complain. I've got a friends who've had the sleeve done & weight has just dropped off dramatically. !!! And, they don't exercise, they smoke & drink!!!! Take care all Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi everyone, thanks so much for all your advice. Today I downloaded MyFitnessPal. It's great , so now I can start to really monitor what I consume. I don't smoke or drink . I find myself being able to eat a decent handful size of meat without feeling over full or sick. I can definitely eat a lot more & a lot faster than say 5 months ago & to be honest, that scares me. Doc says it's all normal. Tomorrow's another day. All I can do is take it as it comes. Nice to know there are other Aussies on this forum. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
