That's it. I have to confess something to y'all. I admire Jachut and want to be just like here when I grow up. She is the most level headed, logical, laid back, sensible, carefree bandster I know of and I idolize her. :hail: Jachut

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
PhotoNut replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I sure hope it's possible. I started with 177 pounds to lose, and so far I've lost 52. Sixteen pounds of that was from the pre-op diet, but the rest has happened since Jan 9th this year. Yeah, I think it's possible. *winks* *laughs* I feel like I know so many people here, and I'm getting quite fond of many of them. I started a thread once about being addicted to LBT. That hasn't changed! -
Really excited to have surgery date!
PhotoNut replied to Linhopp's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Nope, no problems. I've only been banded since Jan 9th this year. I'll have to pay for any complications that may arise and I don't have the money for it. My only hope is to get some insurance and end up in the emergency room. *laughs* Actually, we'd have to take out a second mortgage on our home. But I'm just trusting that things will go exactly as the good Lord plans. Afterall, it was only through miracles that I got this band, and those come from Him. -
Heyas Kim! Welcome home! You've been missed. Looks like that fill's working. Are you still blowing bubbles?

Hello there Linhopp! Grats on your banding date! That will be here before ya know it. I'm excited to hear about your journey. Two years of researching.. you ARE thorough, aren't you? -
Wow DeAnn! And here I thought I was the protein queen! LOL Did Dr. Atkins pay you for that? *peers at DeAnn with a grin* Email me your pic so I can crop it a bit for you. Then we can see you better. skmorris2@gmail.com

Hi JoAnne! Welcome to Bandland! Be sure to rest all you can. Although its a fairly minimally invasive surgery, it's still surgery and there's quite a bit of healing that needs to be done which will sap your energy. Be sure to get in your 60 grams of Protein and take your Vitamins and drink, rather.. sip, lots of Water.

By the way, I posted these on another thread for Josette. These are sites where you can buy scales that go up to 400 pounds. They probably have some that go higher, but that's all I was looking for at the time. http://www.scale-it.com/mechanical.htm http://www.allegromedical.com/diagno..._hd351.P211099 http://www.allegromedical.com/diagno..._hd372.P211100 -

ATTENTION CLUB MEMBERS - NEED YOUR INPUT: So I was thinking. I know, I know.. keep your jokes to yourselves. *laughs* Rather than have one huge long thread, how about we start a new one for each month. I can put the Members Page and the Honors page up at the beginning, and we can name them like this: The Gone for Good Club - April I just went through about 15 pages of our posts, trying to decide which ones we could delete and I came up with 50. That's a lot of work for a moderator to do *cough*Penni*cough*. We can just have the threads locked at the end of the month, and I'll put up a link to the next month's thread to direct everyone to the right place. Sound ok with everyone?
-
Ok, I've updated everyone to this point. Check your stats on page one of this thread to be sure I don't have you weighing a ton! *laughs* Holly! That is NO tiny victory girl! I'm so happy for you and very very proud of you! *big hugs* Good news, girl. Last week you were at 162. That's 2 pounds for you this week! Ok, DeAnn - let's hear some of your secrets! No band and you're losing faster than some of us banded folks! I had you at 295 last week, did I typo? I guess it does!!! LOL
-
ROFL! I didn't even see this until just now! *still laughing* Girl, I'm betting you'll lose a TON this week! LOL Poor Morsaille! This is what I had for her last week: Morsaille - S 312/ J 287/ G 180/ C 2887 (-24 lbs total)

Josette, here are a couple of sites that sell good scales. We have a health-o-meter and its within one pound of my doc's scales. http://www.scale-it.com/mechanical.htm http://www.allegromedical.com/diagnostic_products/scales/tanita/digital_scale_model_hd351.P211099 http://www.allegromedical.com/diagnostic_products/scales/tanita/glass_digital_lithium_scale_model_hd372.P211100

Port replaced. Is this normal??
PhotoNut replied to MicheleMonops's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
First of all, welcome to LBT, Ready! 1) From what I know about it, which is what I've learned from people who have had flipped or leaking ports replaced or repositioned, the answer is yes, port replacement does require surgery. 2) That will depend on your surgeon. 3) My port is just under my ribs on my right side. Now, question for you. Isn't that painful??!! Have you spoken to your surgeon about this? I hope so. You don't want to risk infection. That needs to be dealt with right away. Let us know what you find out and how things are going. -
I was filled on an empty stomach. Only guessing about this now, but it seems as though having a full stomach could cause problems in the ways the other ladies have described, or by ending up with a fill that's just too loose once the food has passed through. Could be wrong about that though. Ask your doctor what he suggests - that would be your best bet.
-
Hey Gail, welcome to LBT! I think you'll find very differing stories about the pain levels. Most of which describe some discomfort from incisions in the first few days. The gas used during surgery to inflate the stomach, which makes room for the laproscopic tools and surgery, often causes some lingering problems but is usually gone within a week or two. I had a ventral hernia repair on my stomach at the same time, and that hurt far worse than any of the lapband incisions. I'm a big baby and I did fine. You will too.

Inamed's recommendation for the first fill in a VG (10cc) band is 4cc. Check out this thread to see a chart on how the different amounts of fills restrict the stoma: http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=15216

Thinking and researching the lap band
PhotoNut replied to cindyn's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I got my first (and only) fill at the six week follow-up appointment. My first few days were on Clear Liquids, then I progressed to full liquids for the remainder of the first three weeks. I was then on mushies and slowly progressing to solid foods on week 5. On solids and doing well by the end of week six. All doctors are different though. Your nutritionist and/or doctor should be able to let you know ahead of time what you can expect. -
Penni - I sure hope you feel better soon. Colds aren't the worst thing that can happen to us, but they sure do SUCK! *hugs* Paula - He is adorable, isn't he? I love him so very much! Guess what? I went over 50 pounds!! Yay!!! -52 today :) I will do 30 minutes of cardio every day. (Walked on the dreadmill. No gym. We've given up until next week when everyone's schedules are in better order for this.) I will drink 6 - 16.9oz bottles of Water every day. (Did it!) I will write down every bite I put in my mouth - quantity, calories, Protein. (Yup, keeping up on this.) I will take on one realistic self or home project per day. (Um, I finally went and started my tanning sessions! Does that count? *laughs*) Gym days: Tuesday _NO_ Thursday _HA!_ Saturday _HA!_

It's weigh-in day! I see many of you have already posted and everyone is doing so well! For those of you who are struggling and need a fill - hang in there. You will get past this point. In the mean time, drink more water and step up your exercise. Next week you'll blow right by everyone else! Lianna - I'm celebrating with you girl! Doing the happy dance! Sincere grats on reaching Onederland. That is such exciting news! :clap2: I'll get everyone updated tonight. Here's my big news for the week - Dawg and I both went over 50 pounds!! Woohoo!! We get to join y'all on the Honors Page! C 255 (-52 pounds total, -3 this week)

:clap2: Welcome to the Gone for Good Club, Josette! :clap2: So, glad you jumped in with both feet. Now... hit the ground running! Run from the fear of giving up food, Run from chocolate, and for pete's sake run toward your goal of a healthy life! I will get you added to the Member's page. Do you want your stats put up like the others have? If so, let me know what you want included. So sorry about the loss of your mom, but I have to say that it's awesome to see you doing something so special in her memory. I'm sure she's smiling about it. I sure am! *hugs* By the way, the eating thing is called the Last Supper Syndrome. Everyone gets this feeling of panic, thinking they have to eat everything they can now because they wont ever be able to have it again after banding. That's just not true, so relax and think of your journey as beginning now. Everyday is an opportunity to take one more step in the right direction. And all of those steps put together, get us where we want to be.
