Perhaps self-abuser would have been a better choice of words. I certainly didn't mean this as a put-down and I hope Lisa didn't take it that way. I used to think I used food as a comfort or reward, but I'm starting to realize that it was more of a punishment. It becomes a vicious cycle. You eat, then you grow disgusted with your self-preceived failure, so you get mad and just eat out of control. Hating yourself more with every bite, not understanding why on earth you're ruining yourself. That is what I meant by self-hater. I'm a fun loving, outgoing, caring person as well. I care for others far better than I care for myself. I can be excited about life when I'm with others. I can be an entertainer in a crowd. But get me alone with ME and the whispers start in my head and I end up eating out of anger at myself. Well, this WAS my pattern. I may face it again one day but for now, thank God, I can't. My post was meant to show empathy, not to make anyone feel as if I was putting Lisa down. *shrugs* Sorry, if it came off that way.

Hello Yoda! May the Band be with you! hehe Happy you found us and just as Donna said, jump on in. This is a fantastic group of Losers! And your surgery date happens to be on Dawg's and my anniversary of the first time we met. Perfect day for starting a new life!

He is a short little thing, but no, he didn't have to use a stepstool to give the fill. However, he does have his very own platform that he stands on during surgery! *laughs*

Hey Alex - No Pics in Journals?
PhotoNut replied to PhotoNut's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
Heyas Alex. I don't mean to pester you, but I'm still wondering why I can't attach pics in my journal anymore. Any ideas? The paperclip icon is gone. If that's a feature you decided to remove, I'm fine with it. I'm just going nuts trying to figure out why I could do it before and can't anymore. Thanks a bunch. -
I'm not finding an option to download and attach pics in the journals anymore. I've done it before - have pics in my journal still - but it looks like the icon is missing. Has this changed or am I just being a numpty? Thanks

Ok Butch, that's twice you've made me cry. *hugs* Lisa, from one self-hater to another... *big hugs* You're in my prayers.

Need a little help kick-starting my weight loss!
PhotoNut replied to j_war06's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Why no white chicken meat?? How odd. Here are a few suggestions: Low fat cottage cheese and fruit Green salad with fat free dressing, maybe some eggs or cheese in it for Protein Broiled fish with steamed veggies A cup of chili A baked potato (insides only) with veggies or small salad -
Nope, I wouldn't lie. I swear I didn't even feel a slight pinch. My doc told me that they do the in and out thing to pull out any air that might be in the tubing or band before they fill it the first time. I've also heard that they pull the current fill out before adding more to see if the full amount is still there.

Ah sorry, Sue. Only the first portion of my post was to you. The rest was just meant to be thoughts to everyone in general, not for you specifically. Sorry you felt you had to address each point in that long ass post! LOL

*laughs* My doc held that syringe like a dart and acted like he was going to throw it at me from across the room. The look of that thing is so frightening, but like you said in the video, "Is it done?" You can't even feel it! Thanks for sharing the video, and best of luck with your book sales. Smart guy!

I remember losing 8 pounds in one week and I was thrilled. The next week, I only lost 1 pound and I cried! *laughs* As Stocky said, things do level out and return to an average of 1-2 pounds per week. Once you are on solids again. Toss in some exercise and drink lots of Water and its possible to see 3 or more pounds a week on occassion. I'm out about 12 weeks now, and as of last Sunday I've lost 40 pounds (since surgery). That's an average of 3.33 pounds per week. Your average is 3.66 per week (22 divided by 6). I'd say you're doing great!

7 Up, originally named Bib-Label Lithiated Lemon-Lime Soda, was concocted in 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri. It originally contained lithium citrate, a mood-stabilizing drug. Many early soft drinks contained herbal or pharmaceutical ingredients. This was removed in 1950. Contrary to popular belief, the coca leaf extract cocaine was never added to Coca-Cola, per se. Because cocaine is naturally present in untreated coca leaves, small amounts of cocaine were also present in the beverage. Today's Coca-Cola uses "spent" coca leaves, those that have been through a cocaine extraction process, to flavor the beverage. Since this process cannot extract the cocaine alkaloids at a molecular level, the drink still contains trace amounts of the stimulant[5]. The United States DEA oversees the importation of coca for Coca-Cola, and later sale of the extracted cocaine to the drug industry where it is used in the creation of many of the common drugs whose names end in "-aine" (such as Procaine).[6] Lithium and cocaine. There's why we love it so much! *laughs*

Sue, am I misunderstanding what you've said here? If you're saying that RNY patients lose fast and regain, but lap band patients don't lose much, so it's all a wash, then I'd like to offer these two threads in defense of those who ARE indeed losing a LOT. I'm not sure why you'd say bandsters don't lose much. And no, this isn't to start an argument, it's just to clarify. People who have lost over 100 pounds: http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=16050 Scroll down to the Honors page on this thread: http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=16050 The following are my thoughts, spoken aloud as an opinion. It is not intended to be directed at anyone in the form of passive aggressive behavior. If you do not like what I think or say, please don't blast me for my writing style or personality.. simply put me on Ignore. Thanks It seems to me that some folks are being very defensive about their own preferences. There is no need to argue over which prodedure works or doesn't work, nor is it necessary to get upset when someone feels strongly about not chosing something that perhaps we have chosen. Some of you chose to have the sleeve, or bypass, while others have moved on to these procedures after trying the lap band. I have not visited bypass support boards, so I have no idea if they are busy arguing with people about the band or not, but this seems a bit over the top. We are all free to have our opinions. We are all free to say, "The lapband sucks and now I'm going to do what I should have done in the first place" or to say "I would never risk having bypass surgery. I've heard and seen very negative things about it." Just because we have an opinion that might differ to someone elses doesn't constitute an ongoing struggle to prove who's right and who's wrong. When a thread is started that asks for opinions, we should expect to see a wide range of thoughts, beliefs, and convictions and not feel threatened by such. If I started a thread entitled, "Lapbands rule, RNY sucks" or "People who choose the RNY are idiots" then, yeah.. bring on the war. Otherwise, give everyone room to share their thoughts without feeling like they are attacking you or your choices. There are a few here who no longer have the band and choose to stay here and be a part of this community that are gracious enough to remain encouraging rather than pissy about those who still have a lot of hope in the band. It can't be easy to continue giving support, advice, and encouragement to current bandsters when they've had to give up that hope for themselves, and I appreciate their unselfish hearts. I would name them, but then it would appear that those not on my list are being pointed out and that's not my intent. Besides, we all know who they are and we all love and appreciate them so much. They are a fine example to us all.
