You know, I agree. If you take away my right to delete a thread I started, then take away everyone else's right to quote me! Otherwise the solution of just delete my own posts is no solution at all. Strawarts - Your pic is beautiful, girl. Earlier today I was thinking about starting a "What did you look like when" thread. What did you look like the last time you were happy with your appearance. I will be looking through my High School photos to find one I can scan! hehe

The lapband journey started when the Dr said Yes, let's get you started on the pre-tests and pre-op diet. I was at 307 then. My last visit with him was Tuesday and he calculated my weight loss based on 307. I agree with Anillacookie, I did the work and I still am doing the work. It all counts, IMO.

*laughs* Alex, I hope not too! Well, if that's what you all are going to do I can tell you this for sure. People will certainly be thinking twice about how they begin a thread.

I'd better be invited!!

So, if the information which is added to an ongoing thread is extremely valuable and should be saved for future reference, then why not start a new thread in the appropriate forum and ask the moderators to make it sticky? That way it is easily found without having to dig through long threads with a ton of other comments that don't really apply to the important info. Just a thought. And StrawartS, I agree with you as well. I think sometimes we take this stuff way to seriously. I'm sure there are hundreds of threads filled with extremely important information here on LBT. Many people have put a lot of time into sharing on those threads, but most of us don't ever go back that far and read them. So when new folks join LBT and ask similar questions, the same information gets posted again, by the same people or by someone else. This isn't like a work of literary art. It's more like an ongoing discussion. And things come up now and then which could be helpful for others in the future, so they can be made sticky. I think I'm still of the opinion that we should have the right to delete a thread we've started. We don't record every conversation, every chat session we have online, etc. I see no reason to be all upset over the loss of a thread that's probably served it's purpose, hurt someone, or just because someone regrets starting it in the first place.

Donna, youre such a crackup! LOL I always have to eat a lot less than what these types of things recommend. If it works for you, that's awesome. I don't understand how that offers much information, considering the caloric intake for medically supervised zone (lapband patients) is anywhere from 0 to 1492. I have a hell of a time getting in 1,000 calories per day, how in the world would I manage 1492?? (eating reasonable portions of healthy foods) Please don't think I'm poo-poo'ing your Dr or your excitement over the info he provided you. I'm just thinking outloud.

Good grief Trish. You're having a heck of a time with things. *hugs*

Suzie, go back to your original thread about this. People are already responding to this question there. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?p=205708#post205708

Geesh girl. You shouldn't be lifting that stuff yet. You could tear a stitch around your port or band. Now I'm concerned. Are you in pain or is this just a continued discomfort from surgery? Is it getting better since surgery? Or has it worsened since you've been lifting those boxes? My port is just under my ribs on the right side, but Dr's put them in different places. Your stomach is under your ribcage on the left side and the band is probably pretty close to your breastplate.

Grats on your first fill. It kind of feels like a promotion to a higher rank, doesn't it? hehe That's quite an aggressive fill you got. When you come off of liquids, be sure to take it slow as you re-introduces foods back into your diet. If you have any troubles, don't wait around - get a small unfill.

No, sweetie, just her. There is no excuse for what she did, nor is there one for what that dumbshit did to K@t! But Vines is right, two rudes don't make a right. As hard as it is to keep quiet and let someone shine alone in the light of stupidity, it's often the best thing to do. As soon as we open our mouths to retort, we reduce ourselves to the same level. Choosing the higher ground takes much more maturity and self control. I walked into the tanning salon the other night and for the first time since I've been going there, the place was full of beautiful bodies. Sitting by the door was a woman about my age with her teenaged son. She was very thin, overly tanned and very wrinkled. Anyway, when I walked in, she said, "Oh.. my .. god" looking right at me! Her son looked up and rolled his eyes and I'm sure others looked. I just kept my eyes forward, went to the desk and was soon hidden in a room by myself. But good grief, people can be so damn mean!

Yup, you'll get used to it. You're still in the very early stages of healing. Every day gets better. Just take it easy, don't lift anything over 10 pounds and if the dicomfort increases or doesn't go away, see your Dr about it. Grats on getting banded and Welcome to LBT!

I never rely on anything online to be permanent. If I want something to be kept for future reference, I copy it and save it on my own system. But I do see your point, Vines. I hadn't thought about, nor did I realize that some threads containing basic helps, recipes, tips, etc were deleted. That puzzles me. What would be the reasoning behind that?

Dody moved to Tennessee last week to live (temporarily) with her DD and SIL. She is probably busy going thru the pre-tests and getting ready for her surgery. How about the ever delicious Diva Dee? Has anyone seen her around lately?

Wow, I'm so sorry I missed this thread, Jess! Grats on your new job. Sounds ideal! I'm really happy for ya!

Nope, I didn't need anything other than what I was sent home wearing. I had a tape of some sort over steri strips. The tape can come off after a few days when you shower, but the strips stay on (or should) a bit longer. If your's comes off, I'd recommend getting in touch with your surgeon and seeing what he/she recommends as a replacment. May the band be with you, Yoda

I would guess that Kelly deleted her threads because she was hurt. To me, when someone starts a thread they are asking for opinions or answers to their questions. When we post responses we are giving the original poster our input. Once they have the input, they may do with it as they wish. I think that editing and clearing out the original post would only be a partial resolution. There is the Quote option which, if used by someone, would have placed the original post somewhere else in the thread. Some people are very passionate and have tender feelings. Kelly posted the DaVinci thread in response to her own convictions. I stayed out of the thread because I saw many responses that basically chewed her out and told her she was stupid for her opinion. I personally am proud of her for having the courage to act on the leading that she must have felt. It's never easy to stand up in a crowd of potential opposers and speak out about your conviction. I see nothing "chicken" about her choice to delete the thread and the fact that this thread is aiming more criticism at her is rather sad. It was her thread. She should delete it if she wants without criticism. If those of you who contributed to the thread wish to continue the discussion about the topic, leaving comments about the original poster of the topic out of it, then do so. It's that simple. I vote to leave things the way they are. If I start a thread that ends up being a source of embarassment and pain for me, I'd like the option to delete it. And for those of you who believe that if you are going to post something controversial, then don't be a crybaby when you get strong replies - well, just remember.. you can post your opinion without attacking the opinion of others and making them feel like crap. The door of responsiblity swings both ways.

Congrats to Danaclark and Shackdog. Dana was banded yesterday and Shack was banded on Monday! I hope you are both doing well and are ready for the ride of your lives!

Errr... :noidea: I'll be posting the updates in the morning to allow everyone time to check in tonight. Y'all are doing great! I'm so proud! Where is the rest of our club? I know you're out there somewhere folks, speak louder so we can hear ya!

I replied to this topic on the GFG thread already, but I wanted to add that perhaps what these people are saying to us is not "Hey, you look perfect." maybe they are just saying, "My god, you look so much better than you used to!" I can accept that. Perhaps when I weight 130 pounds, I'll be able to accept the compliment, "You look terrific!" and actually believe it. We shall see.

Hello Derbygirl. I loved the determination behind your words. I have no doubt you will find a way and that you will be a tremendous success story! I think the low carb aspect of it comes from focusing on eating our Protein first. Then the carbs are naturally reduced. By eating the protein first, we don't find ourselves getting hungry too soon after a meal. I think it's important to have a well-rounded diet which includes carbs from fruits and veggies but I completely avoid carbs from grains because they are my downfall. As my friend says, If it's white - it aint right! (sugars and processed breads). My favorite foods now are: 1. Gorton's fish fillets. Garlic butter or Lemon Pepper. No breading. (I eat these almost every day! 2 with some veggies. Microwave 7 mins) 2. Starkist Tuna lunch packs. Don't leave home without them! 3. Healthy Choice Meals - small ones. chicken breast or turkey slices with smushed taters. 4. Pop Secret 100 calorie popcorn or kettle corn. The only snack I allow in my house. 5. Chicken or roast beef in the crockpot. 6. Viva low fat cottage cheese and DelMonte Lite peaches. (my typical breakfast) 7. Fiber One Cereal I also take the following daily suppliments: 1 Chewable Centrum Multivitamin 1 Vitamin E 400 units 3 Vitamin C 500 mg each (one with breakfast, lunch, dinner) 2 Calcium 600 mg (one with breakfast, lunch) And the secret of life: WATER! (64oz plus 8oz per every 25 pounds of excess weight) This figures up to about 6 - 16.9oz bottles per day, for me.

Wow, one month to the day of her first post!! I guess all of the crossed fingers, toes, and eyes really helped! Welcome to bandland Angie! I hope youre recovery is as speedy as your approval and surgery! :welcome2:

I just saw this on lmt33167's signature and thought it a timely quote: "You can change the outside, you can change the inside, but deep down where it really counts, you will always be who you truely are" ...Stay true to yourself...

So, yesterday when I was out shopping there was a section of the store that had pictures and mirrors (home decor) sitting along a wall. They were on the floor but leaned back against the wall. I was walking down the row, looking at the pictures and the last one in the row was a rather large mirror that I was thinking would look good over our fireplace. Then suddenly it hit me that the legs, hips, and stomach in the mirror.. were MINE! It literally made me gasp because it was truly the first time I had realized that I don't look the same at all! And oddly, it shook me up pretty bad so I turned away and tried to forget it. I think we are afraid to accept this change. How many times have we disappointed ourselves by regaining the weight and having to give up the "nicer" images we saw of ourselves? Maybe this is a defense mechanism? If we reject the image and the compliments, if we refuse to believe that the size 18s we just bought are almost too big on us (it's true!) then maybe we won't be as disappointed this time. That will be $70 ladies. *holds out her hand with a grin*

Geeze Diane, I'm going through the same thing. My closest friend continually makes comments about how tiny I am when we are together. I just chalk it up to her over enthusiasm and encouragement. I put up the pictures yesterday and people say "wow, I can see the change!" but I cant. I think I'm obsessed with looking at my pictures now! I'm always staring at them, comparing them, searching them for some sign of this huge change that everyone else can see. Logically I know I've gone from a size 26 pants to an 18. That has to be a huge difference, right? But everytime someone makes a positive comment, I find some reason to explain their reasons for making such comments. So, scoot over. I'm climbing on the therapist's couch with you!
