    Hello & Introduction

2queenbee - You've posted on the Idaho thread, which probably wont get a lot of exposure. Not many of us live in Spudland! LOL Go to the Introductions Forum and start a new thread there. You'll get lots of responses and meet a lot more people that way. Lorri - Welcome to LBT and to Bandland! I've been going to the support groups for about three months now and I think it's good to get together and hear what everone else is doing, share ideas and struggles, and just make new friends. It helps to know you're not alone, ya know? The St. Al's support group meets on the second Tuesday of each month, and the Idahobandsters have Soup night on the last Thursday of each month. The St. Al's group is mostly folks who were banded locally by Dr Cahn and Dr Anderson, but the Idahobandsters group has folks who were banded at various different places, including Mexico. It's a more relaxed night for visiting. Last month was my first one and it was a lot of fun. As Linda said, we'll post where the Soup Night is going to be this month, and I hope we see you there. In the meantime, stay plugged in here. There are so many folks who are just full of great suggestions and support. You'll love it here!

    What can I EAT ?

To copy a link, right click on it and select Copy Shortcut. Or you can open the thread, highlight the addy in your web browser address bar, right click and Copy. Then, paste into your post.
  3. Ah yes, the old "not enough calories" pitfall. I'm glad your nutritionist set you straight on that! Start getting in the habit of drinking your Water, too. Have a look at this article. It's a quick and easy read and will help you see why drinking enough water will help you lose weight. http://www.inch-aweigh.com/water.html Roseann - I eat iceburg lettuce type salads (prebagged) and have had no problems. I also eat frozen veggies (peas and carrots, cauliflower, broccoli), boiled a long enough to make them really soft. I also eat canned green Beans. No problems with any of these veggies.

    What can I EAT ?

Here's the link: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=3995 Click on it and it will open a new window with the thread that Morsaille was referring to. Also, dont worry about being able to eat as you did pre-banding. This is normal as you wont have much restriction until you get your first fill. In the meantime, dont worry about anything other than eating the right types of foods for the stage of healing that your tummy is in. Losing weight during the first six weeks is a bonus. Letting the stitches heal and the band get seated in well should be your number one focus right now.

    Help Help Help!

You'll be ok, sweetie. Just call your doctor. I'm sure this will pass, but you need to take good care of yourself and get it under control. *big hugs* Now, go call your doctor. *big smiles* And everyone needs to know all possibilities of complications and the discomforts that go along with this. While it IS worth it, it's only fair to have all the facts before making the decision to be banded.
  7. I'll resize them and email them to you so you can post the smaller versions. Email me at skmorris2@gmail.net. Ah, the period at the end of the email addy messed it up. *chuckles* Here, I'll just put up what I did for ya: weightloss.doc

    Help Help Help!

I would call your doctor as soon as possible. You should be able to get fluids down. If not, you'll get dehydrated - you probably already are. They will most likely bring you in for IV fluids and give you something for the nausea. Don't put this off. All of the wretching can cause problems with your band. Let us know what the Dr does. And don't wait until tomorrow. All Drs have an answering service and can be reached. *hugs*

    Ban Food Ads?

Super! Now if we can get them to stop serving french fries, pizza, etc and telling us that ketchup qualifies as a vegetable serving! Did you know that about one third of the calories in ketchup are from sugar? Oh dear... don't get me started! *laughs*

    Ban Food Ads?

Hmm... well, no. What it actually says is ban ALL food ads. Ban ONLY fast food ads. Ban NO ads. Not sure. At the time I thought it was a fairly good spread of options. Why did you think it was biased?

Back from a week in FL

Welcome back, Wheetsin. I'm glad you had a nice time. Your story is exactly why I'm dragging my feet about getting another fill. I can tell I'm getting hungry more often, eating more than I typically do, and at times I just want to run over to the Dr's office and scream "Fill me! NOW!" I am so afraid of slipping into bad habits. On the other hand, I have not had any bad experiences with PBs. A couple of times I felt the golfball but it was my own fault for drinking a cold liquid with the meal. That cold hits the stomach and everything sinches up tight! Ugh. Anyway, I don't want to live in fear of eating. I don't want to have this become something that's more thought consuming than it already is with me. I don't want to be in pain and I don't want to be PB'ing and putting my band at risk. But on the other hand, I want my band to work as intended and that means using the tool as it was designed to be used. *sighs* I'm just about ready to pull my hair out over this! Errr... sorry, Wheetsin. I just walked all over your thread. *sheepish grin* You touched a nerve.

    Where's your port?

My port is a couple of inches below my ribs on my right side. So far so good. It does buldge out but I can't complain. At 49 years old, I don't have any plans for wearing a bikini so noone's going to see it anyway.

    Whats wrong with this picture?

Sounds to me like you're dealing with a doctor who is enjoying making money on fills when he doesn't really know what the heck he's doing. Find another doctor - QUICK! This guy is wasting your time. Has he ever drawn out the saline that's in the band before adding more? This is standard practice to verify that your band isn't leaking. It's possible that he punctured your tubing and you're not even getting anything to the band itself. Geesh. Find another doctor!

    new

Hi Rainbow, welcome to LBT! I'm sure you can imagine just how many people in your shoes have asked that same question. There are lots of suggestions for Protein drinks, but the one I've heard tastes the best is Nature's Best Zero Carb Isopure drinks. They are whey protein which is the best for you, and they come premixed in bottles. They are clear and are fruit flavored, unlike the chalky powered mixes that leave horrid aftertastes. They are a bit more expensive, but you'll only need them for a few weeks. They contain 40 grams of protein per bottle, so you can drink half in the morning and the other half later in the day. (the body can only absorb so much protein at a time). Now that I'm on regular foods again, I get all of my protein (70-100 grams per day) by eating fish and chicken. Best of luck with your surgery and your lapband journey. Keep us posted on your progress.

    How much is too much?

My doctor encouraged me to be out walking and doing any excercise I felt up to doing, as long as it wasn't something that strained the stomach muscles. Avoid lifting more than 10 pounds, don't do situps or crunches, and you should be just fine. I'm happy that you're feeling so well! Enjoy the warm weather and be active! It's great for your body.

Gone for Good Club - May 2006

 Heya Skye! Thanks for the update, kiddo, and don't worry about the scorecard. I agree, the last thing you need right now is more to worry about. You're still in my prayers. *hugs* Oh, and I'll be keeping an eye out for your lurking friend.

Gone for Good Club - May 2006

NJGirl, I just got mine back. I was banded on Jan 9th. I've read that it's very normal for surgery to mess up your cycle for a while. It's also a fact that hormones are stored in fat cells, and as we lose weight those hormones are released into our bodies resulting in a variety of odd events such as moodiness, pimples, and hmmm... I wonder if that also relates to the hairloss that some experience? Anyway, I'm sure you're fine and will get back on track before long. And after my most recent experience with it... be happy you're getting a break!

:welcomeB: to the Gone for Good Club, Clanton! :clap2: As Funny said, tell us a little bit about yourself so we can get to know you. I'll add you to the Members Page once I have some info on you. Have a look at the first page of this thread. You'll find out what this club does and see what info the others have given me to put after their names on the Members page. Again, welcome to the club.
