Wow, I was just thinking these very thoughts in the shower. Don't panic, if it happens it happens, do the best you can, and take full advantage of the gift while you have it. Maybe it wont be a forever thing, maybe it will. Whatever the case, make hay while the sun shines baby! Thanks so much LaMadam

Youre a virgin? Give yourself a hand! *nudge, nudge, wink, wink* *laughs* Ok, I'm going to see my surgeon in a short while so I need to resist the temtation to read this thread or all of my incisions will be bleeding when I get there. :Banane23: And Puddin.. good for you, seriously. You should be proud of yourself. DeLarla.. puddin *laughs* made me think of you. *winks*

That's it. I'm locking my door and refusing to open it anymore. I have been careful about eating soft foods and chewing until that bite of food is hardly worth swallowing. I have been under the calorie limit everyday. But I know I am eating too much at a time. I know when I'm not hungry anymore and yet.. I'm allowed to have that so damnit, it WILL fit in there! Bad bad me. Time to wise up. Thanks for the reality reminder, Leatha. *hugs*

OMG Im laughing so hard! Damit, my port hurts now. You all are cruel! I'm not reading this thread again until I'm healed up and ready. AND -- If you all don't stop making me laugh, I'm never going to heal!! *still laughing, flipping you all off that are having so much fun*
-
By the way.. my port is on the right side, just under my ribs.. sometimes uncomfortable from my ribs pressing on it (or maybe its the fat between). But I wonder what makes different docotors prefer different locations? I have seen some put low by the hip area. Might be interesting to hear where everyone's is. *grins*

Hi Michelle! First of all, grats on your weight loss and better health! That's awesome! I was banded three weeks ago and my stomach's just now starting to look like I've just had a kid rather than about to have one! I can still feel the port, sometimes I'm more aware of it after getting in the car or twisting around to do something. I think we are all going to be different in terms of healing times. Well, heck.. in all aspects really! Walking two miles already! I'm so envious! I can't wait to feel good again!

Oh geeze.. this is going to sound so selfish but it's true. I'm sitting here praying that the response is, "She was banded in Mexico". This is starting to freak me out y'all. My surgeon did tell us in the seminar that they have learned to turn the connecter on the band in a certain way before attaching the stomach around the band to prevent erosion. He also said there is only a 1% risk of erosion now. And by sewing the stomach over the band, slippage is practially unheard of. I hope he's right! You know what hits me? Of all the questions I did think to ask, I never once thought to ask.. "And what if it does erode or slip? Do you guarantee your work? Will you fix it? Or will it cost me a fortune to save my life when it goes wrong?" Why oh why didn't I think of those questions before now? Ack!!

Have you been treated differently since losing weight?
PhotoNut replied to hopefull's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Robyn, I had a boss who had an RNY after he left a job he had been on for years and years. While on that job he was very fat, but was well liked by everyone. After he lost the weight, he went back to that job and nobody knew who he was. He said that since he's been thin (and yes, he looks old and sickly and has multiple problems because of the RNY) he has seen from the 'other side of the fence' just how mean people are about fat people. Many times he's had people who have no clue that he used to be fat make comments to him about an overweight person they saw. He's not shy about telling them off either. So yeah, I think we are all in for some surprises as we get thin and are accepted into the 'inner circle' of the 'normal people'. Maybe we can make a difference once we are there. Who knows. Now... about your 71 pounds gone in 6 months... holy cow! Share how youre doing that please? Would love to hear your story. -
Aww.. bless your heart. I too went thru the same pre-op diet you are on and surprised myself that I actually did lose 16 pounds in two weeks. They know what they're doing, so eat what youre supposed to and trust that it will work out fine. I know from experience that the killer of all my attempts to lose weight has been stress from unexpected events or traumas, or just plain being upset. Sounds like youre going thru that very thing. So much is going to change in your life as you get healthy. Your view of yourself and the world around you wont be the same. Perhaps you and your husband could agree to stay together while you go through this and get some weight off of you before you two make any decisions. You will need support and encouragement, and though he might not be able to give that to you at first (due to hurt feelings, defensiveness and anger, etc) you can always come here for that as well as other family members. Ending a marriage is usually something we regret for years to come. Looking back on two of my failed marriages, I see that I walked away from one tough situation only to have to start all over with someone else, leaving behind all of the invested emotions, efforts, time and love. Unless there is abuse, or other extenuating harmful circumstances, it really does pay off to work together through the tough times and come out stronger and together on the other side. Be encouraged by all of us who have been in your shoes (with the lapband steps) and know that you can do this too.. For Yourself. No matter how the rest of your situation turns out, it will be nothing but good for you to proceed along your journey of regaining health and self-confidence. Best of luck to you. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Welcome, welcome, welcome! So many of us have been, or are still in your shoes. Exicted, nervous, wondering if youre doing the right thing while convinced it's going to finally be an answer to prayers. This really is a great group of people. Here you will find lots of caring support and answers to questions we have all had. I look forward to hearing about your journey.. but.. is there something we can call you besides de98338? *grins*

Just curious here (and a bit concerned about my own future) are any of you who are not losing weight on the scales seeing a change in the way your clothes fit? I noticed many of you stating that you are working out four times a week. Muscle, while it takes up less room in your body, weighs more than fat. Is it possible that you are losing fat, but gaining muscle? In the past, I have seen myself gain weight when I started working out, but my clothes began to fall off of me. A 200 pound fat person looks a lot different than a 200 pound lean and muscular person. Just a thought.

Holy buhjeezus! I want that recipe Janet!
-
Yeah, I figured it would be somewhere between $600 - $1,000. Anyone else? Anyone have one at home that they really like? There are so many to choose from. Different motor sizes, different width tracks, different programs.. it's hard to decide and I don't need another place to hang clothes and stack crap! heh

Yep, he's right Peggy. You have your name in your Custom User Title. Just change that to some thing else and you'll be set. -

Possible Clothing Swap for Texas LBTs...
PhotoNut replied to banded_for_life's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I always match. BIG white bra, BIG white underwear. I really need to be thin so I can remember what it's like to be a woman! -
Oops, sorry no. I can see how that read wrong. Not drinking while eating is the hardest thing for me. I'm supposed to stop drinking with meals at six weeks.
-
Somewhere in the forums I read that we shouldn't pick up anything over 10 pounds for the first six weeks. The port is stitched to a thin layer of muscle covering and can easily be pulled away until scar tissue begins to form and attach to the port, making it much more secure. Even then it is possible to pull it a bit. I had hernia surgery with my band surgery. They put a piece of mesh under the muscle. The tissue grows in and around the mesh to secure the muscle. About a week ago I stood up and dang near dropped to the floor when it pulled from the tissue. It was a burning, stinging sensation just like youre describing. So that's probably what's happening. Be sure to take it easy, keep trying to contact your doc and find out if you should be seen. Watch your temp, and for any other signs of infection. As for the PB and heartburn. Are you eating soft foods that are easy to digest? Eating slowly? Chewing your food until it's goo? Be sure to do exactly as your doc tells you. Thinking we can get around the rules is only going to end up hurting ourselves. Best of luck to you!

Hm.. on the ticker, go back to your signature and delete the extra parts that are showing up in your signature then you should be fine. I have to do that as well, not sure why. That code is for PhP bulletin boards, which this is.. so.. *shrugs* My doc said if I stop losing (and Im not drinking milkshakes or eating cookie dough) or am able to eat too much at one time (more than a cup) then its time for a fill. I'll be eating 1,200 calories of low fat, low sugar foods once I'm at the six weeks mark. I'm still on 800 calories a day, eating mushies and soft foods. I see no reason to need a fill yet. If I can't control myself to stay at 800 a day for a couple of weeks, I'm probably looking at long term problems (slow weight loss). So far so good though.
-
Ok, that just hurts thinking about it. I'll be happy to give you a swift kick in the arse but I think I'll pass on the crotch shot. LOL Get up, get moving, and get busy living!
-
Click in the bbCode box (on the last page of making the ticker) then hit Cntrl + a (for select all), then Cntrl + c (for copy) then paste it in your signature here. Youre either getting the wrong one, or not all of it. Anyway, I would rather have my doc tailor my fill schedule to the needs of my body rather than run me thru like one of the sheep in the flock. I get free fills for a year and will see him once a month. He will watch my weight and check my food journals to see how I'm progressing. If I -need- a fill I will have one. I won't be scheduled just because its week four or whatever.

Vines!!! *sits in the corner chewing her nails, frantically looking around for the onslaught of rampaging industrial robots.. realizing she's in the kitchen, near the killer fridge, she runs to the bedroom and screams seeing a cup of buble tea on the bedside table. Jumping under the bed she covers her head and waits for the bus to run through the wall or sklylab to come crashing through the ceiling* *grins* Ok ok.. a bit over humor there. Leener.. stop freaking and get your band so you can be nuts like the rest of us. *big smiles*
